Background: Understanding the complex biological mechanisms of cancer patient survival using genomic and clinical data is vital, not only to develop new treatments for patients, but also to improve survival prediction. However, highly nonlinear and high-dimension, low-sample size (HDLSS) data cause computational challenges to applying conventional survival analysis. Results: We propose a novel biologically interpretable pathway-based sparse deep neural network, named Cox-PASNet, which integrates high-dimensional gene expression data and clinical data on a simple neural network architecture for survival analysis. The cullin-RING ligases (CRLs) form the major family of E3 ubiquitin ligases. The prototypic CRLs in yeast, called SCF enzymes, employ a single E2 enzyme, Cdc34, to build poly-ubiquitin chains required for degradation. In contrast, six different human E2 and E3 enzyme activities, including Cdc34 orthologs UBE2R1 and UBE2R2, appear to mediate SCF-catalyzed substrate polyubiquitylation in vitro. The combinatorial interplay of these enzymes raises questions about genetic buffering of SCFs in human cells and challenges the dogma that E3s alone determine substrate specificity. Objective This study tests the hypothesis that certain MRI-based regional brain volumes will show reductions over time in a cohort exposed to repetitive head impacts (RHI). Methods Participants were drawn from the Professional Fighters Brain Health Study, a longitudinal observational study of professional fighters and controls. Participants underwent annual 3T brain MRI, computerized cognitive testing, and blood sampling for determination of neurofilament light (NfL) and tau levels. Yearly change in regional brain volume was calculated for several predetermined cortical and subcortical brain volumes and the relationship with NfL and tau levels determined. For most people, playing video games is a normal recreational activity, with little disruption to gamers’ emotional, social, or physical health and well-being. However, for a small percentage of gamers, video gaming can become pathological (Fam, 2018). Substantial research has examined pathological gaming in teens and young adults (Cheng, Cheung, & Wang, 2018; Choo, Gentile, Sim, Khoo, & Liau, 2010), yet pathological gaming in adults (c.f.Holgren, 2017), especially in the context of parenthood, has been relatively ignored. The effect of harvesting and predation on a Holling type II stage-structured predator-prey system with assumption that harvesting and predation happen only to mature preys was investigated. Stability of interior point was analysed using Routh Hurwith Criterion. Numerical simulations were carried out. The results show that harvesting and predation have strong negative impacts on population dynamics of stage structured predator-prey system.

The study investigated the proficiency in human relation skill among the Information professionals working in the Government Engineering Colleges in Kerala. The study based on a questionnaire survey of Information professionals employed in the Government Engineering Colleges. The analysis revealed that the Information Professionals in the Government Engineering Colleges moderately good level in the human relation skill. All the professionals expressed positive attitudes towards keeping a good relationship with their clientele.

BACKGROUND: Mindfulness practice and exercise are ways by which older adults can improve and maintain their physical, emotional and cognitive health.

METHODS: This single-site qualitative study gathered insights of older adults' perceptions about initiating and maintaining mindfulness and exercise practices. We carried out focus groups with 41 adults aged 65-85 who had recently initiated Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), structured exercise, or their combination as part of participation in a clinical trial. We used a semi-structured interview to ask them open-ended questions regarding the benefits, barriers and facilitators of participating in mindfulness and/or exercise interventions. This work presents the temperature-dependent forward conduction and reverse blocking characteristics of a high-voltage vertical Ga₂O₃ power rectifier from 300 K to 600 K. Vertical β-Ga₂O₃ Schottky barrier diodes (SBDs) were fabricated with a bevel-field-plated edge termination, where a beveled sidewall was implemented in both the mesa and the field plate oxide. The Schottky barrier height was found to increase from 1.2 eV to 1.3 eV as the temperature increases from 300 K to 600 K, indicating the existence of barrier height inhomogeneity. An international research project led by the University of Plymouth is working to update a centuries-old construction technique for a new generation of energy efficient homes. Whilst it used to be common to build houses with subsoil mixed with straw from local fields, traditional “cob” buildings (or “bauge”, in French) now fall foul of strict thermal requirements. The focus is on behavioral-based performance through four dimensions: self-efficacy, communication skills, problem-solving skills and the employees productivity. The sample consists of (44) employees from different departments distributed randomly into two groups. To remedy this, pertinent methods informed by theoretical perspectives of atypical development that ameliorate stress and augment coping in children with disabilities are warranted.
