The Lighting Programmer As Creative Collaborator, Kelli Zezulka

Behind the Scenes: Journal of Theatre Production Practice

The lighting programmer as a discrete profession is a relatively recent development in UK theatre production and one whose job description and responsibilities vary widely. Being an excellent programmer is not merely a case of manual dexterity and syntactical knowhow; it encompasses a range of interpersonal skills and empathetic awareness. Using two examples from recent fieldwork, and through an analysis of the language-in-use of lighting programmers, this article positions the theatre lighting programmer as an important member of both the creative and production teams and argues for greater awareness and promotion of their influence on theatre-making.

Blind Algorithm Development For Peak To Average Power Ratio Reduction In Ofdm Systems Under Frequency Selective Channels, Kwame S. Ibwe Dec 2019

Blind Algorithm Development For Peak To Average Power Ratio Reduction In Ofdm Systems Under Frequency Selective Channels, Kwame S. Ibwe

Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)

One major drawback of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system is peak to average power ratio (PAPR). This effect causes high power amplifier (HPA) to introduce intermodulation and out of band radiation as the signal goes through, thus degrades the performance of OFDM systems. This paper proposes blind algorithms which takes advantage of signal transformation technique and signal distortion technique. Simulation results show that at complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) level of 10-3, the proposed algorithm achieved 3.2 dB PAPR improvement compared to discrete Fourier transform with interleaved frequency division multiple access (DFT-IFDMA) based algorithm. The bit error rate (BER) …

Humanitarianism, Sovereignty, And Asean Mode Of Governance: Another Perspective From The Global South, Nandang Sutrisno

Asia-Pacific Social Science Review

As the world has become increasingly more connected, the nature of humanitarian problems has also become transnational. To confront them, as a consequence, international cooperation is inevitably needed. In particular, the ongoing Rohingya crisis is the latest example that showcases the state-centered model of ASEAN (or the Southeast Asian) model of regional cooperation that has failed in the area of humanitarian management. Furthermore, it suggests that ASEAN has abandoned the very purpose of its existence as it was conceived in its founding document, the Bangkok Declaration. Against this background, this paper argues that the region’s failure cannot be separated from …

The application of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Fiduciary Duty in Law No. 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies creates a conflict of interest. The problem that arises is the placement of CSR in the company's income statement that will reduce the company's dividend distribution. This violates the principle of "fiduciary duty". Directors of Limited Liability Company must maximize shareholder prosperity. So far, CSR is considered a social activity. To avoid conflicts of interest, CSR must be classified into a promotional account in the financial statements, especially the Balance Sheet. The method used to assess CSR refers to the …

Employing an exposition through the academic literature, this article studies the narrative that began the idea of contractual choice of law up to the end of the 19th century as an intricate idea in private …

Understanding The Role Of Consciousness In Maruyama’S Political Philosophy, Pamela Ann J. Boongaling

Asia-Pacific Social Science Review

In this paper, I will argue that Masao Maruyama’s concept, basso ostinato, is best understood in conjunction with the evolution of the term consciousness in Japanese intellectual thought. Doing so allows us (1) to provide a more charitable interpretation of Maruyama’s basso ostinato and (2) to supply a more methodological account of Maruyama’s political philosophy. Such an interpretation of Maruyama’s views also enables us (3) to demonstrate the continuous significance and applicability of his framework and methodology as I use his basso ostinato to show why Japan’s “education-based nation” policy cannot sustain its post-war form of ultranationalism due to the …
