Heuristics are often viewed as inferior to “rational” strategies that exhaustively search and process information. Introducing the theoretical perspective of ecological rationality, we challenge this view and argue that under conditions of uncertainty common to managerial decision making, managers can actually make better decisions using fast-and-frugal heuristics. Within the context of personnel selection, we show that a heuristic called Δ-inference can more accurately predict which of two job applicants would perform better in the future than logistic regression, a prototypical rational strategy. So far, an adequate assessment of these skills across countries has remained challenging. Limitations inherent in the use of self-reports (e.g., lack of self-insight, socially desirable responding, response style bias, reference group bias, etc.) have spurred on the search for methods that could complement or even substitute self-report inventories. DEAD (Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp) box polypeptide 41 (DDX41), a receptor belonging to the DExD family, was recently identified as an intracellular DNA sensor in vertebrates. Here, we investigated the presence of cytosolic DNA sensing, DDX41 in shrimp Penaeus monodon. By searching for gene involved in DNA sensing cascade within the shrimp P. monodon EST database, 3 cDNA fragments exhibited similarity to DDX41 in various species were identified. Sequences assembly resulted in a complete ORF of Penaeus monodon DDX41 (PmDDX41) which has 1868-bp encoding a putative protein of 620 amino acid residues. Objectives: Fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) plays a function in the development of synovitis in osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Neutrophil-derived microvesicles (NDMV) can protect cartilage and possess anti-inflammatory effects on recipient cells. We investigated the expression of inflammatory cytokines produced by TNFα-stimulated FLS which were pre-treated with NDMV. Methods: FLS isolated from the synovium of patients with OA were characterized by flow cytometry. Neutrophils were isolated from healthy volunteer blood and were characterized by cytospin and flow cytometry. Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) is one of the most efficient processes to produce clean fuel. This study involves the synthesis of activated carbon (AC) from heavy fuel oil (HFO) via the carbonization-chemical activation process for utilization as catalyst support. Six kinds of electrodes were prepared from indium tin oxide-coated glass (ITO-coated glass) substrates coated with titanium dioxide nanotube (TNT), poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) to improve conductivity of the substrates and surface area for the phthalocyanine-based materials. Aiming to discover novel bioactive secondary metabolites from genus Garcinia, we performed phytochemical and biological investigations of three Garcinia species collected from Indonesia. A series of chromatographic techniques and spectroscopic data analysis were used to isolate and characterize the Garcinia phytochemicals. The cytotoxicity of the isolated compounds was evaluated against five human cancer cell lines (HeLa S3, Hep G2, HT-29, MCF-7, and KB) using MTT assay. Pyrrolidinyl peptide nucleic acid (acpcPNA) was covalently modified onto the patterned cellulose paper to act as a specific probe for capturing the HCV DNA target according to Watson−Crick base-paring rules. An underlying mathematical model for simulating such small-scale influence is established within the continuum-based framework via the well-known couple stress theory. First, the experimental study of the cellular steel and CECS columns was conducted in the laboratory. For the cellular steel columns subjected to concentric loading, the failure mode of the bare cellular steel columns was local buckling at both web and flanges at the hole section. In this research, we develop a Thai machine reading comprehension (MRC) model on Thai MRC dataset provided by NECTEC. Trading communities provide non-commercial members with an online platform on which to exchange goods. Its success depends on member participation; however, little is known about its drivers. Based on literature we identify five drivers. To capture their impact over time,we test a latent growth curve model with longitudinal data, comparing the effects at an initial point of time with their impact on the growth of member participation over three subsequent periods. The study explored the experiences of four survivors from the 1993 WTC bombing, the effectiveness of seven New York State Military Forces (NYSMF) deployed to Ground Zero (GZ), and perspectives of five Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals on DRP operations going forward from 9/11.

These biomaterials were prepared with modified compositions and microstructures and then were evaluated for bone regeneration.

The open HA microspheres with dense convex surfaces and rough and porous concave surfaces were obtained by sectioning closed hollow HA microspheres. Bone regeneration with the open HA microspheres was greater than with the closed HA microsphere at 12 weeks.
