A Co-Optimal Coverage Path Planning Method For Aerial Scanning Of Complex Structures, Zhexiong Shang, Justin Bradley, Zhigang Shen Nov 2019

A Co-Optimal Coverage Path Planning Method For Aerial Scanning Of Complex Structures, Zhexiong Shang, Justin Bradley, Zhigang Shen

Department of Construction Engineering and Management: Faculty Publications

The utilization of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in survey and inspection of civil infrastructure has been growing rapidly. However, computationally efficient solvers that find optimal flight paths while ensuring high-quality data acquisition of the complete 3D structure remains a difficult problem. Existing solvers typically prioritize efficient flight paths, or coverage, or reducing computational complexity of the algorithm – but these objectives are not co-optimized holistically. In this work we introduce a co-optimal coverage path planning (CCPP) method that simultaneously co-optimizes the UAV path, the quality of the captured images, and reducing computational complexity of the solver all while adhering to …

The sample lesson plan begins with fundamental knowledge on the functionality of search engines with emphasis on algorithms. With this instruction, students can understand not only search engines, but also their manipulation potential, which leads to ramifications. …

Child Outcomes Of Having A Parent With An Aud, Faith A. Shank, Kirsten Petrarca, Carolyn Barry Nov 2019

Child Outcomes Of Having A Parent With An Aud, Faith A. Shank, Kirsten Petrarca, Carolyn Barry

Modern Psychological Studies

Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) affects not only the diagnosed individuals, but also those around them. This review explores how an AUD can affect parenting styles and, in turn, children’s development in four main areas of development (physical health, academic abilities, social development, and mental health). Generally, parents with an AUD negatively impact the child’s development (weight issues, poor academic skills, and aggressiveness). Existing limitations of the literature and future research directions are discussed, such as the use of cross-sectional studies and need for more clinical and longitudinal studies. Also, research on this topic extensively covers the situations of children within …

Algebraic Frames And Ultrafilters, Papiya Bhattacharjee Nov 2019

Algebraic Frames And Ultrafilters, Papiya Bhattacharjee

Mathematics Colloquium Series

A frame, also known as pointfree topology, is a complete lattice that satisfies a strong distributive property, known as the 'frame law.' Originally, the study of frames began as studying topological spaces without points, hence the name pointfree topology. Due to this connection, different topological concepts can be generalized to frames, for example, compactness. In the first part of the talk, I will explain the basic notions of frames and their connection with topology. It turns out that we can find frame structure in other categories than topological spaces. For example, given a commutative ring R with identity, the lattice …

Holistic Approach To Academic Support At Illinois Mathematics And Science Academy, Amy Keck, Diane Hinterlong

Publications & Research

Academic support is critical to the success of students, and gifted students are no exception. The support they need is as unique as the students themselves. The difficulty of the material challenges some students, some struggle with time management, others struggle with breaking tasks into smaller chunks and other executive functions. The challenges become even more significant in a residential environment where students need to adjust to living and learning independently while also developing new social groups. Parents may also need assistance in helping students transition into this new, more independent role. Presenters will share application-based ideas from real-time programs, …

An Efficient Algorithm For Mining Frequent Itemsets In Large Databases, B. Praveen Kumar, D. Paulraj Nov 2019

An Efficient Algorithm For Mining Frequent Itemsets In Large Databases, B. Praveen Kumar, D. Paulraj

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Flexible Bitmap Index and Cluster based Bit Vector (FBICBV), focus on identifying the eligible candidates from unfiltered huge volume of temporal data in order to find out frequent patterns among them. One of the best and efficient solutions is to use the mechanism of bitmap indexing and clustering. First, using bitmap index, the rich data are filtered out from the unfiltered raw dataset to be analyzed effectively. Thus, the eligible candidate data are identified through this process. Second, the frequent patterns are identified using cluster based bit vector appropriate for effective decision making. Hence, scanning of raw data is completely …

Adaptive Learning And Game Theory Based Cognitive Radio Networks, P. Arivazhagi, P. Karthigaikumar Nov 2019

Adaptive Learning And Game Theory Based Cognitive Radio Networks, P. Arivazhagi, P. Karthigaikumar

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we propose the optimized adaptive spectrum sensing method employing Game Theory Model for Cognitive Radio Networks. In the game theory model, the secondary user (SU) decide the sensing technique applicable relative to the utility function. Prior to this, SU estimates the SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) of each channel and thus forms the utility function in terms instead of energy and throughput. Then the sensing method is adaptively determined on the basis of the SNR value. At low SNR values, the one-order cyclostationary detection technique is applied whereas at high SNR values, the energy detector is used. The decision …

Key Exchange Techniques Based On Secured Energy Efficiency In Mobile Cloud Computing, B. Karthikeyan, T. Sasikala, S. Baghavathi Priya

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we propose a novel offloading algorithm to enhance the security in the Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) by combining Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), Secured Hashing Algorithm (SHA)-256 and Diffie-Hellman key exchange techniques. In the proposed system, the application in the mobile device is divided to offloadable and non-offloadable portions, usually threads. The offloadable thread is now suspended and wrapped in the mobile device. In order to secure the transmission, the wrapped thread is added with the hash value generated from SHA-256 algorithm and the secret key will be exchanged with the help of Diffie- Hellman algorithm. To improve …

Research Of System Conditions For Formation Of Failure On Mathematical Models By The Results Of The Research Of Reinforced Concrete Bridges, E.T. Yaxshiev, F.Z. Zokirov, A.B. Karimova

Journal of Tashkent Institute of Railway Engineers

Based on the data of field surveys, the results of assessing the state of reinforced concrete span structures of bridges and characteristic defects that occur in the structure during operation are presented. An analysis of the results of inspections and periodic inspections responsible for the operation of artificial structures shows that a significant part of reinforced concrete spans has various types of defects and damage to load-bearing structures. Studies show that defects have a significant impact on the operational properties of reinforced concrete spans, leading both to a limitation of the speed regime of train movements and to the emergence …

Investigated The Strength Of Rolling Stock As A Fuzzy Function, M.L. Waail, R.V. Rahimov Nov 2019

Investigated The Strength Of Rolling Stock As A Fuzzy Function, M.L. Waail, R.V. Rahimov

Journal of Tashkent Institute of Railway Engineers

In this paper we use Fuzzy Set Theory to solve one of the essential problems in Railway Engineering: estimate the strength of rolling stock. As known, the strength of, any, rolling stock depends upon several factors that cannot determine them accurately. Therefore, we can consider them as fuzzy factors. The strength of any rolling stock can be changed depending on its operating conditions and the intensive of operation, that can consider as fuzzy factors too. A new proposal method developed depending on Fuzzy Set Theory to estimate the strength of mobile equipment or to compare between several rolling stocks for …

Mathematical Models Of Differential Magnetic Circuits Of Converters With Movable Screens And Distributed Parameters, S.F. Amirov, O.T. Boltayev Nov 2019

Mathematical Models Of Differential Magnetic Circuits Of Converters With Movable Screens And Distributed Parameters, S.F. Amirov, O.T. Boltayev

Journal of Tashkent Institute of Railway Engineers

In the article the mathematical models of differential magnetic transducers with movable electromagnetic screens and with distributed parameters, taking into account the magnetic flux scattering, are developed. To develop a mathematical model of the transducer, the distribution expression of magnetic fluxes before the moving and after the moving parts are obtained using the method of magnetic circuit dismemberment, and the resulting magnetic flux is determined by the overlay method. The developed mathematical models showed that the discrepancy between experimental and theoretical results does not exceed 8-11%.
