The time taken from the removal of a laptop or other device from a bag by a user to the establishment of connection to a wireless network can be significant, e.g., ten seconds or more. This disclosure describes techniques to reduce this delay to nearly zero. Per the techniques, upon detection of motion by on-board motion sensors of a device, the device wakes from a sleep state and automatically scans for and connects to a WiFi network.

Introducing Perennials Into Grasslands In South West Australia Increases Gross Margins For Dual Purpose Merino Enterprises, Paul Sanford
Introducing Perennials Into Grasslands In South West Australia Increases Gross Margins For Dual Purpose Merino Enterprises, Paul Sanford
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
Dual purpose Merino enterprises on the south coast of Western Australia (WA) typically utilise agricultural grasslands that comprise entirely of annual plant species. These grasslands face a range of challenges including a variable Mediterranean climate coupled with mostly infertile fragile sandy soils. As a consequence livestock producers have to manage potentially high supple-mentary feeding costs particularly in summer and autumn while running sufficient livestock to remain profitable. Sowing summer-active perennial species into these grasslands has been shown through short-term livestock trials to allow an increase in stocking rates and reduce the amount of supplement fed. The objective of this investigation …

Developing A Diet Authentication System From The Composition Of Meat In Ruminants, F. J. Monahan, A. P. Moloney, O. Schmidt
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
As consumer interest in the link between diet and human health and in the ethics of food production increases assurances about the background origin of food are sought. In the case of animal-derived foods, such as meat, the animal’s diet is an intrinsic component of the food’s production and of its subsequent nutritional quality. Thus, there is a need to develop ways of validating the authenticity of the animal diet. Among the approaches to authenticate the background diet of ruminants is the measurement of components in meat (muscle and adipose tissue) and other tissues that are directly influenced by the …

Definition Of Extended Structural Defects In Epitaxial Films Of Znteg‘Gaas Grown By Mbe, Muratbay B. Sharibaev, Kanatbay A. Ismailov, Ibrohim N. Karimov, Murodjon Z. Nosirov
Scientific Bulletin. Physical and Mathematical Research
The last three decades of the development of solid state physics are characterized by the fact that the main objects of research are increasingly not massive crystals, but thin films, multilayer thin-film systems, conducting filaments and crystallites of small size. Epitaxial films are grown on a substrate of a single crystal of the same or another material. In the first case, the epitaxial layer with the correct technology becomes a natural extension of the substrate. Epitaxial film can be doped with various impurities. To introduce an alloying admixture into the epitaxial film, three methods are used. According to the first …
The Legal Rules Of Employees’ Remuneration And Their Implementation In Polish Enterprises, Krzysztof Walczak
The Legal Rules Of Employees’ Remuneration And Their Implementation In Polish Enterprises, Krzysztof Walczak
European Management Studies
The purpose of this paper is to present my theory of remuneration rules seen from the perspective of labor law and compare such an approach with the theory of management, and then verify these views against the practice of companies. In my research, which was performed in the years 2009–2017, I focused on enterprises that are directly affected by the global labor market and must cope with its challenges through the optimalization, on the one hand, and by incentivizing rewards for employees, on the other hand. When it comes to the examined group, I chose 450 autonomous sources of labor …
Impact Of The Quality Of Supervisors’ Relationships With Subordinates On Employability And Job Satisfaction Of Public Organizations’ Workers, Izabela Marzec
Impact Of The Quality Of Supervisors’ Relationships With Subordinates On Employability And Job Satisfaction Of Public Organizations’ Workers, Izabela Marzec
European Management Studies
Changes in the area of employment in public organizations make the enhancement of their workers’ employability acquire special importance. In this context, attention should be paid to the role of supervisors in this process. The theory of Leader-Member Exchange (LMX), which indicates that the quality of supervisors’ relationships with subordinates may become an important tool for workers’ employability enhancement, provides an important input on this issue (Schyns, Torka, & Gössling, 2007; Van der Heijden et al., 2009). This paper tries to answer the questions: how do employees of public organizations evaluate their job satisfaction as well as what are the …

Antecedents Of Workplace Deviance: Role Of Job Insecurity, Work Stress, And Ethical Work Climate, Shuaib Ahmed Soomro, Yasir Mansoor Kundi, Muhammad Kamran
European Management Studies
This study examines why and how job insecurity affects employees’ deviant behaviour at work. To develop our hypotheses, we build on the conservation of resources theory. Our hypotheses suggested that job insecurity would be positively related to work stress and workplace deviance. Moreover, an ethical work climate was hypothesised to moderate the relationship between work stress and workplace deviance. Using data from 174 employees working in Multi-National Corporations (MNCs) located in Pakistan, the findings indicated that job insecurity has consequences for work stress and two facets of workplace deviance. Further, we found that an ethical work climate prevents employees from …

Mers-Cov Infection In South Korea And Strategies For Possible Future Outbreak: Narrative Review, Chulwoo Park
Faculty Publications
Although there were some positive viewpoints from international press and academia that the Republic of Korea (hereafter South Korea) successfully controlled the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) outbreak in 2015, the domestic point of view towards the MERS response in South Korea was critical. As people in the world’s 11th largest economy, South Koreans criticized the failure of hospitals’ initial response to the MERS index case and the lack of a proper control strategy for secondary and tertiary cases. To contain the MERS outbreak, South Korea implemented mainly three MERS control and intervention strategies: quarantine and isolation system, temporary closure …

Non-Invasive Hyperglycemia Detection Using Ecg And Deep Learning, Renato Silveira Cordeiro
Master's Theses
Hyperglycemia is characterized by an elevated level of glucose in the blood. It is normally asymptomatic, except for an extremely high level, and thus a person can live in that state for years before the negative - sometimes irreversible - health impacts appear. Unexpected hyperglycemia can also be an indication of diabetes, a chronic disease that, when not treated, can lead to serious consequences, including limb amputations and even death. Therefore, identifying hyperglycemic state is important. The most common and direct way to measure a person’s glucose level is by directly assessing it from a blood sample by pricking a …
