This thesis provides the results of a comprehensive analysis of the metal artifact assemblage from Magunkaquog, a mid-17th- to early-18th-century “Praying Indian” community located in present-day Ashland, Massachusetts. Magunkaquog was the seventh of fourteen “Praying Indian” settlements Puritan missionary John Eliot helped in gathering between the years of 1651-1674 as part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony’s attempts to convert local Native American populations to Christianity. Service-Learning: A Powerful Pedagogy For Promoting Academic Success Among Students Of Color, Michelle C. Sterk Barrett, Isabelle Jenkins

This article discusses a mixed-methods study that investigated the service-learning experiences of students of color at College of the Holy Cross to better understand how service-learning may be an effective pedagogical tool for reducing cultural dissonance and addressing related achievement gaps. Quantitative data were collected from over 1,500 students who had enrolled in 59 different service-learning classes. In addition, interviews were conducted with 13 students of color who had participated in service-learning. Findings indicated that students’ service-learning experiences paralleled study participants’ descriptions of how they learned most effectively. Furthermore, the findings suggest that service-learning may resonate for students of color …

It is well known that graphene demonstrates spatial dispersion properties [1]-[3], i.e., its conductivity is nonlocal and a function of spectral wave number (momentum operator) q. In this work, to fully account for effects of spatial dispersion on transmission of high-speed signals along graphene nanoribbon (GNR) interconnects, a discontinuous Galerkin time-domain (DGTD) algorithm is proposed. The atomically thick GNR is modeled using a nonlocal transparent surface impedance boundary condition (SIBC) [4] incorporated into the DGTD scheme. This is proven to be the case through workplace mistreatment, professional growth opportunities, and struggles encountered through recruitment. Through this paper, I evaluate the tear down of female educators as men become the prioritized employee. Background: Eccrine poroma (EP) is an adnexal benign tumor arising from the eccrine duct epithelium. The appearance of EP can mimic benign and malignant skin tumors, thus often making the diagnosis delayed or inaccurate.

Case Illustration: We report two cases of EP, with clinical and dermoscopic features mimicking Bowen’s disease, verruca vulgaris, pyogenic granuloma, skin metastases of breast cancer, and amelanotic melanoma. Both patients were surgically excised and biopsied. Histopathology examination of both cases revealed eccrine poroma.

Background: Insulin resistance and high carbohydrate diets are currently considered to be influential in acne aetiology. Insulin is a hormone that does not only regulate the concentration of blood glucose but also affects the production of sebum and through the Insulin Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) receptor stimulates androgen synthesis which will increase the proliferation of keratinocytes duct and the production of sebum in acne of the pilosebaceous.

Does Inflation Affect Sensitivity Of Investment To Stock Prices? Evidence From Emerging Markets, Neveen Ahmed

Faculty Journal Articles

This paper uses data from 37 emerging markets and shows that investment of firms headquartered in countries with higher inflation is significantly less sensitive to their stock prices than that of firms headquartered in countries with lower inflation. We argue that stock prices are less informative in countries with high inflation. As a result, managers are less likely to use stock prices in their investment decisions, thereby lowering sensitivity of investment to stock prices in countries with higher inflation.

This paper introduces a holistic and case-analysis teaching model by integrating case studies into cybersecurity courses. The proposed model starts by analyzing real-world cyber breaches. Students look into the details of these attacks and learn how these attacks took place from the beginning to the end. During the process of case analysis, a list of security topics reflecting different aspects of these breaches is introduced. Through guided in-class discussion and hands-on lab assignments, student learning in lecture will be reinforced. Overall, the entire cybersecurity course is driven by case studies. Heretofore in Indonesia, cases of gross violation of human rights have faced an indefinite stagnation of justice. Although the Indonesian government has ratified international human rights conventions and enacted its own system of human rights law, such laws have proven unable to fulfill the restoration of justice toward these victims in two particular aspects: convictions against the perpetrators and reparations for the victims. Brazilian author-painter Clarice Lispector's work, especially her prose in her last published novella The Hour of the Star, is rich with deliberate color use; her abstracted prose style, including abstraction of punctuation, deliberate mention of specific colors during her narrative, and fragmented sentence structure all create an rich word-painting of the main character Macabea. This word painting creates an opportunity for Lispector to color her work with sharply pointed satire, convey political and social agendas of awareness, and ultimately places Macabea in an image-rich and meaning-driven view to the reader.
