As the rate of obesity has increased in the United States to include approximately 40% of the adult population, there has been a corresponding rise in the number of patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The OSA population is at risk for adverse perioperative respiratory depression. Continuous pulse oximetry monitoring is indicated for these patients upon discharge from the recovery room into other treatment settings and when cared for by telemetry or by trained hospital staff in the patient's room. A popular theme among patriots is to celebrate America’s special virtues, which distinguish it radically from European models. Ganesh Sitaraman tells us that political constitutions have generally been designed to prevent socially destabilizing class warfare between the rich, who seek greater domination, and the poor, who would like to redistribute the former’s wealth. America’s Constitution is distinctive because it was consciously designed for a society in which the middle class is large enough to preserve social stability. That is why Sitaraman calls it a “middle-class constitution.”

The first traces of modernism in Iranian society can be found in the second decade of twentieth century which was deeply embedded with religious concepts. With regard to Persian literature, short story was developed as a new genre and a sign of modernism of that period by prominent Iranian writers such as Sadeq Hedayat (1903-1951), Mohammad Ali Jamalzadeh (1892-1997) and Sadegh Chubak (1916-1998). This study focused on the relationships among language learners' communication-related variables including willingness to start a communication (WTC), self-perceived communication competence (SPCC), communication apprehension (CA) and different subcomponents of emotional intelligence (EI). To this end a battery of questionnaires (WTC=20 items, Personal Report of Communication Apprehension (PRCA=24), SelfPerceived Communication Competence (SPCC =12), Emotional quotient inventory (EQI=133)) were distributed among 340 randomly selected Iranian EFL learners in Yasuj, Iran. Correlation and regression analyses showed that EFL student' EI dimensions were correlated with their WTC, SPCC, and CA. Diapause Disruption In Cirina Butyrospermi Vuillet (Lepidoptera, Attacidae), The Shea Caterpillar, In Burkina Faso, H. B. Bama, R. A. Dabire, D. Ouattara, S. Niassy, M. N. Ba, D. Dakouo

The shea caterpillar Cirina butyrospermi is an important insect, highly valued as a human food item in Burkina Faso. However, its appearance is seasonal due to its univoltine cycle. This study therefore investigated the possibilities of breaking the nymphal diapause by changing the environmental factors and through the hormonal treatment of prepupae and pupae using bovine insulin and 20-hydroxyecdysone. Changes in humidity and temperature did not result in emergence, suggesting a mandatory nature of the diapause in C. butyrospermi. Injection of 20-hydroxyecdysone between 20 and 40 ng on 20 C. butyrospermi pupae resulted in 15.24 and 47.5% emergence, respectively. The …

Background: Animal trypanosomosis is a major cause of economic loss in livestock production in Africa. A suggested control measure is to use breeds with traits of trypanotolerance. The study examines the effect of natural Trypanosoma vivax challenge on haematological parameters in two trypanotolerant cattle [N’Dama and West African Shorthorn (WASH)] herds. Methods: Trypanosoma vivax-specific primers were used to diagnose T. vivax infection in an N’Dama herd at Cape Coast in southern Ghana and a WASH herd at Chegbani in northern Ghana from May to July 2011 in a cross-sectional study.
