The Cvs Prescription For Superior Customer Value- A Case Study, Art T. Weinstein, Y. Rodriguez, K. Sims, R. Vergara
HCBE Faculty Presentations
CVS Health is one of the most valued and appreciated companies in the world. CVS and Walgreens dominate the retail drugstore landscape in the United States. This case study is built on a customer value analysis for CVS using the Customer Value Assessment Tool (CVAT). The CVAT is a means to understand and critique the four major value proposition areas -- service, quality, image and price. The company’s strong customer service philosophy as well as its retail and pharmacy marketing strategies are reviewed. A key challenge for CVS is to differentiate itself from its main rival, Walgreens, as well as …

Taekwondo Training Reduces Blood Catecholamine Levels And Arterial Stiffness In Postmenopausal Women With Stage-2 Hypertension: Randomized Clinical Trial, Sang-Ho Lee, Steven D. Scott, Elizabeth J. Pekas, Seungyong Lee, Seok Hoon Lee, Song-Young Park
Health and Kinesiology Faculty Publications
Objective: Menopause is associated with a progressive impairment of vascular function and muscular strength in women. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to determine if Taekwondo training could improve blood catecholamine levels, arterial stiffness, blood pressure (BP) and skeletal muscle strength in postmenopausal women with stage-2 hypertension.
Methods: 20 postmenopausal women (70 ± 4 years old) with stage-2 hypertension were randomly assigned to a 1) Taekwondo training (TT; n = 10) or 2) Control (CON; n = 10) group. Taekwondo training was performed for 60 minutes/day, 3 days/week for 12-weeks.
Results: There were significant (P …

Importance: Although 13% to 20% of American adolescents experience a depressive episode annually, no scalable primary care model for adolescent depression prevention is currently available.
Objective: To study whether competent adulthood transition with cognitive behavioral humanistic and interpersonal training (CATCH-IT) lowers the hazard for depression in at-risk adolescents identified in primary care, as compared with a general health education (HE) attention control.
Design, Setting, and Participants: This multicenter, randomized clinical trial, a phase 3 single-blind study, compares CATCH-IT with HE. Participants were enrolled from 2012 to 2016 and assessed at 2, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months postrandomization in …

Importance: Navigating health insurance and health care choices requires considerable health insurance literacy. Although recommended preventive services are exempt from out-of-pocket costs under the Affordable Care Act, many people may remain unaware of this provision and its effect on their required payment. Little is known about the association between individuals' health insurance literacy and their use of preventive or nonpreventive health care services.
Objective: To assess the association between health insurance literacy and self-reported avoidance of health care services owing to cost.
Design, Setting, and Participants: In this survey study, a US national, geographically diverse, nonprobability sample of 506 US …

Students with disabilities commonly face barriers when accessing water and using sanitation and hygiene facilities at school. International frameworks have prompted governments to enact local policies that enshrine these rights, guarantee equitable access to education and mandate inclusive infrastructure. This research was designed to explore whether Malawi has translated good policies into practice. Data were gathered in Rumphi district, Malawi, through structured field observations in ten schools and interviews with students with a disability (n = 23), teachers (n = 11) and government stakeholders (n = 2). No school had facilities that fully meet the needs of students with disabilities, …

A Collaborative Electronic Behavior Assessment System (Eba): Validation And Evaluation Of Feasibility, Carlos E. Silvestre
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This study validated and evaluated the feasibility of a web-based electronic behavior assessment system, ‘eBA’, designed to facilitate collaboration between caregivers and service providers (behavior analysts) in conducting indirect functional behavior assessment (FBA). In Phase 1, the content and the web architecture of the eBA were validated and refined through a formative evaluation by five behavior analysts. In Phase 2, the eBA system was pilot tested with 10 service providers and 10 caregivers using a post-test only control group design to examine the efficiency and quality of the system and identify the levels of satisfaction with the system by the …
Evaluating Video Feedback As An Antecedent Or Consequent Event For Improving Performance Of Dance Skills, Kelsey Myers
Evaluating Video Feedback As An Antecedent Or Consequent Event For Improving Performance Of Dance Skills, Kelsey Myers
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This study used video feedback to compare the effectiveness of antecedent and consequent feedback. Video feedback was used to increase the performance of dance skills of young dancers. A multiple baseline across subjects with an embedded multi-element comparison was used for three female dancers between the ages of 10 and 11 years old. Antecedent video feedback was given immediately before the performance of a target behavior, and consequent video feedback was given immediately after a performance of a different dance skill. The results show that video feedback increased all targeted skills for subjects, however, there were no differentiated results when …

Engaging Nurses In Evidence: Developing An Ebp Workshop, Abigail Smith
Upstate New York Science Librarians Conference
Upstate’s Department of Nursing adopted the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence -Based Practice (JHNEBP) Model as part of their journey toward Magnet recognition. To receive Magnet certification hospitals must have the infrastructure and resources to support the advancement of evidence-based practice (EBP) in all clinical settings. Nurses are expected to be able to speak the concept of EBP and cite examples of how they use evidence in their practice to achieve optimal patient outcomes. In an effort to increase knowledge about EBP and the JHNEBP model, an interdisciplinary team of nurses and a health sciences librarian investigated the best way to …

Recruitment, Survival, And Parasitism Of Monarch Butterflies (Danaus Plexippus) In Milkweed Gardens And Conservation Areas, Emily A. Geest, L. Lareesa Wolfenbarger, John P. Mccarty
Biology Faculty Publications
Monarch butterflies (Danaus plexippus) are suffering from declining populations and conservationists have encouraged planting milkweed gardens in urban and suburban landscapes to help offset habitat loss across the breeding range. The effectiveness of gardens as a conservation strategy depends on their ability to attract ovipositing adults and the survival of monarch larvae in these gardens. Larvae are susceptible to a variety of predators as well as to parasitism by a tachinid fly (Lespesia archippivora) and a protozoan parasite (Ophryocystis elektroscirrha) which cause lethal or sublethal effects, yet the severity of these risks in gardens …

Purpose
The development of NIRF cathepsin activity probes offered the ability to visualize tumor associated tumor reaction and act as a surrogate marker to delineate the dysplastic lesions. One major type is a NIRF substrate of cathepsins (SBP), which is involved in catalytic way to produce high levels of fluorescence emission. The other major type (ABP) reacts with active cathepsins in stoichiometric manner since they bind covalently with their active center. Little is known about the sensitivity and the specificity of the NIRF probes to detect autochthonous developed dysplastic lesions. Dual laser NIRF endoscope provides a good tool to determine …

Is Students’ Energy Literacy Related To Their University’S Position In A Sustainability Ranking?, D. R.E. Cotton, J. Winter, W. Miller, L. Dalla Valle
School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics
University rankings are increasingly important internationally, and in the UK include a sustainability ‘Green League’. However, there is little evidence about experiences of studying in ‘sustainable universities’. We report an empirical study at five universities in varied positions in the Green League, exploring students’ energy literacy, environmental attitudes and perceptions of their institution’s energy-saving efforts. Although the link to energy literacy is not clear, findings suggest that there are significant differences between students’ environmental attitudes at universities placed at different points in the league. In addition, students at higher ranked universities are more positive about their university’s energy-saving efforts, suggesting …
