Fusing Module Particles Detection, Hp Inc Nov 2018

Fusing Module Particles Detection, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

Currently, powder recyclability is very important to calculate total cost of ownership (TCO) and

3D printing efficiency.

Below is explained a way to detect and identify particles surrounding the external or internal

surface from fusing module glasses. These particles may interfere in the energy propagation and

irradiance to the bed.

This system can detect and decide if the number of particles present on the glass will affect print

quality and advise the user to clean it or replace it if needed due to degradation.

Caring Science Education: Measuring Nurses Caring Behaviors, Linda Ackerman

DNP Qualifying Manuscripts

Abstract

In preparation for this DNP project and, in reviewing research and evidence-based practices it was found that there are limited research study articles available specifically focusing on caring science educational programs utilized as an intervention to inform and impact the nurses caring behaviors while caring for patients within a heath care environment. There are multiple survey tools directed at the patient which assess the caring behaviors based on the patient’s perception however, there are limited tools that examine the nurse’s perception of their caring behaviors and their personal professional practice as it relates to caring science or relationship-based care …

Extrusion-Based Direct Write Of Functional Materials From Electronics To Magnetics, Alan Shen Nov 2018

Extrusion-Based Direct Write Of Functional Materials From Electronics To Magnetics, Alan Shen

Doctoral Dissertations

New micro- and nanoscale fabrication methods are of vital importance to drive scientific and technological advances in electronics, materials science, physics and biology areas. Direct ink writing (DW) describes a group of mask-less and contactless additive manufacturing (AM), or 3D printing, processes that involve dispensing inks, typically particle suspensions, through a deposition nozzle to create 2D or 3D material patterns with desired architecture and composition on a computer-controlled movable stage. Much of the functional material printing and electronics area remains underdeveloped for this new technology. There is a need to understand and establish the advantages and shortcomings of extrusion-based DW …

Looking Past The Images: Art And Film As Propaganda Apparatuses, Alexander Schumm Nov 2018

Looking Past The Images: Art And Film As Propaganda Apparatuses, Alexander Schumm

Theses

This paper aims to show that art and film can operate as propaganda in subtle and unintentional ways. Jacques Ellul called such propaganda “sociological propaganda.” Recent work in philosophy has relied on the notion of intention in defining how propaganda works to affect the beliefs and attitudes of its recipients. This paper argues that intention is not a necessary condition for messages to be propagandistic and works to decouple propaganda from intention. Because our current models rely on intention in defining propaganda, recent work in philosophy cannot account for sociological propaganda. Ellul’s gestures toward defining propaganda explicitly feature intention as …

Understanding Educators’ Perceptions Of Mindfulness On Students’ Academic Skills, Behavior, And Overall Well-Being, Sara E. Gottfried Nov 2018

Understanding Educators’ Perceptions Of Mindfulness On Students’ Academic Skills, Behavior, And Overall Well-Being, Sara E. Gottfried

Honors Program Theses and Projects

Research indicates that academic performance and social and emotional well-being are fundamentally interrelated (Schonert-Reichl, Oberle, Lawlor, Abbott, Thomson, Oberlander, & Diamond, 2015). Given that 13-20% of children in the United States experience social and emotional challenges, schools are required to attend to the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students (Maynard, Solis, Miller, & Brendel, 2017). However, students are often unequipped with the skills to effectively cope with stress and resort to behaviors that cause emotional, mental, and physical suffering, all of which thwart the learning process (Schonert-Reichl et al., 2015). Schools warrant interventions that support the whole student, given …

Help! An Insight Into Long Distance Romantic Relationship Advice Sought Online, Brendan John Murphy Nov 2018

Help! An Insight Into Long Distance Romantic Relationship Advice Sought Online, Brendan John Murphy

Master of Arts in Media and Communication Plan II Graduate Projects

The purpose of this study was to examine the long-distance romantic relationship (LDRR) advice sought online and see how it relates to previous literature. Reddit posts from the r/LongDistance subreddit were narrowed using an advanced search to find the most popular (upvoted) advice from users. Qualitative, contextual analysis research was used to search for reoccurring themes throughout the advice sought. Results revealed that feelings of uncertainty and anxiety were very common within LDRR, and advice was sought about how to maintain relationships whilst living apart.

Waking Up Every Day In A Body That Is Not Yours: A Qualitative Research Inquiry Into The Intersection Between Eating Disorders And Pregnancy, Elizabeth A. Claydon, Danielle M. Davidov, Keith J. Zullig, Christa L. Lilly, Lesley Cottrell, Stephanie C. Zerwas Nov 2018

Zerwas

Clinical and Translational Science Institute

Background

Women with eating disorders are more likely to negatively react to finding out they are pregnant, although this difference in attitudes between women with eating disorders and controls disappears at 18-weeks’ gestation. Those with anorexia also are twice as likely to have an unplanned pregnancy and those with bulimia have a 30-fold increased chance compared with healthy controls. Therefore, due to these considerations, pregnancy and the transition to motherhood can be an extremely challenging time for these women both psychologically and physically. The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study was to understand the intersection between eating disorders and pregnancy …

Keep Your Distance: People Sit Farther Away From A Man With Schizophrenia Versus Diabetes, Ryan Thibodeau, Heather M. Principino

Psychology Faculty/Staff Publications

Although concrete behavior—such as avoidance, discrimination, rejection—is foundational to most definitions of stigma, knowledge of psychiatric stigma has been constructed mostly on the basis of measurement of self-reported attitudes, beliefs, and feelings. To help fill this gap, the current study examined avoidance behavior in psychiatric stigma. That is, we predicted that people would seek more physical distance from a man with a psychiatric problem than a man with a medical problem. One hundred fourteen undergraduates expected to meet a man with either Type II diabetes or schizophrenia. After completing several measures of self-reported stigma, participants eventually moved to an adjacent …

Segregation Academies Then And School Choice Configurations Today In Deep South States, Marilyn Grady, Sharon C. Hoffman Nov 2018

Segregation Academies Then And School Choice Configurations Today In Deep South States, Marilyn Grady, Sharon C. Hoffman

Contemporary Issues in Educational Leadership

In the following article, we present a brief historical review of segregation academies and their impact on students and public schools. Based on the review, we provide a portrait of the vestiges of segregation academies that appear to be currently re-emerging in different educational configurations throughout the U.S. and particularly in Deep South states.

The purpose of a historical study is to provide a descriptive overview of specific social problems confined within a predetermined timeframe (Danto, 2008). This historical review’s purpose was to address the following inquiry: What were the characteristics of Deep South segregation academies designed to circumvent Brown …
