We Sit As Kings is a solo performance piece that explores the exclusion of certain peoples in 1515 London, 2015 Europe, and the potential rise of power of those who choose to exploit the inbred fear of these people. The piece uses texts from Thomas More, partially written by William Shakespeare and transcripts from BBC news. The play was inspired by an accidental discovery of Sir Ian McKellen performing the final monologue.

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of repeated reading on the comprehension level of eight 8th grade students. Incorporating an action research design, data was collected through utilizing a pretest and posttest, timed repeated readings, a reading semi-open ended questionnaire, a Likert-scale questionnaire, observation and the taking of field notes, and weekly assessments. Both qualitative and quantitative data were collected for a total of eight weeks for a period of 20 minutes two times per week, each Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Much of the comparative scholarship on the works of Gabriel García Márquez assumes the position that he was most significantly influenced by the works of William Faulkner and Ernest Hemingway. However, beyond the citation of techniques shared extensively by other Modernists and dependence upon superficial comparisons between texts, the connections between García Márquez and these writers frequently remain tenuous. I suggest that to privilege Faulknerian or Hemingwayan readings of García Márquez is to overlook his position as a postcolonial Latin American novelist; I therefore consider in relationship with García Márquez the Irish writer James Joyce. The purpose of this document is to highlight the fundamental musical features J.A.C. Redford employs to create characterizations within his oratorio The Martyrdom of Saint Polycarp. Analysis of melody, harmony, texture and rhythm demonstrates Redford’s methods of underscoring the principles of good and evil while demonstrating a Christian worldview.

An examination of each character reveals unique music that highlights specific aspects of their individual personalities. Redford employs a variety of techniques to accomplish the diverse personae. The purpose of the present Action Research study was to describe a class of southern, suburban, high school band student-participants’ perceptions of a jazz performance of an arrangement by the researcher that is a Duke Ellington adaptation of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite. Student-participants’ perceptions were gathered using a modified Fennema-Sherman Attitude Scale in the form of a pre-test and a post-test to determine any changes in attitudes towards jazz performance. Almost universally, the saxophone struggled to gain acceptance in the early years following its invention; however, the obstacles faced were much more arduous in some places than others. The saxophone faced many serious impediments to acceptance, especially in the non-democratic 20th-century countries of China and the Soviet Union. Once established, this monument tradition continued to flourish throughout the twentieth century. In a traditional Middle Eastern society, men and women have been confined within society’s gender definitions. Those imposed social constructs condition men differently from women by dictating expected behaviors, establishing a hierarchy of gender positioning and enforcing definitions that limit abilities and potential.

Based on postmodernist philosopher, feminist and social theorist, Simone de Beauvoir and postmodernist American philosopher and gender theorist Judith Butler, gender is not an inborn role, but rather created through stylized repetition of acts informed by society, named performative acts. For de Beauvoir and Butler, gender can never be a stable identity (Butler 1988).

Edgar Allen Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne are arguably two of the most highly read and heavily debated nineteenth-century antebellum authors in America. Their writings fascinate readers, while their character depictions, particularly their characterizations of fictional women, prompt intense academic debate. This thesis examines the previously less-studied historical developments surrounding Poe and Hawthorne in the antebellum era that shaped their approach to writing fiction. This article discusses a hitherto unknown letter, written by Sor in Saint Petersburg in April 1827. It provides new insight into the publishing and personal relationship between Sor and his Paris publisher, Antoine Meissonnier, to whom the letter was addressed. We learn about three airs with variations Sor was busy composing at the time; he was particularly pleased with the variations Meissonnier later published as op. 30. The letter also mentions some unknown Sor works, including a book of drafts at Málaga, and it reveals that Meissonnier had published, without Sor’s knowledge, music that he had received from sources other …

Oscar Sonneck’s century-old definition of “Hail Columbia” as a non-partisan song needs revision. The song’s words and music, its promotion and reception in the Philadelphia newspapers, and the paratextual practices of representation associated with its early printed editions combine to situate “Hail Columbia” as part of an informal cultural program whereby Federalists leveraged the events of the Quasi-War and XYZ Affair to rouse support for Adams and discredit French-sympathizing Republicans. This study examines the political influence of charged standup comedy as a form of protest in resistance movements against white supremacy. It examines the experiences of seven marginalized comics who confront oppression through this non-traditional and humor based form of protest. Over the course of two months I conducted and filmed eight in-depth, semi-formal interviews with seven comics of color; six women and one trans-non-binary person, as well as an academic who specializes in studying the production of “charged humor.” I attended more than 30 standup shows and filmed several performances. The practicum is internationally recognised as a valuable component of teacher education. It is an opportunity for pre-service teachers to develop teaching skills in authentic ways and pursue professional inquiry into practice. While extensive research has been conducted into the practicum generally, little research focuses on the practicum experience for pre-service drama teachers. This article, investigates the preparation of drama teachers for the profession with a particular focus on the practicum component of pre-service education. โรงภาพยนตร์สกาล่าสร้างขึ้นในยุครุ่งเรืองทางเศรษฐกิจและทางสถาปัตยกรรมสมัยใหม่ของไทยในช่วงปีพ.ศ.2505-2515 ตั้งอยู่บนพื้นที่ศูนย์การค้าสยามสแควร์ ด้วยองค์ประกอบทางสถาปัตยกรรมสมัยใหม่ที่ชัดเจนทางกายภาพและโครงสร้างฝ้าโค้งที่โดดเด่นของโถงโรงภาพยนตร์ ทำให้กลายเป็นจึงเป็นพื้นที่ที่เป็นภาพจำ แต่ด้วยความนิยมที่ลดลง ประกอบกับพื้นที่ตั้งที่มีแนวโน้มจะเกิดการพัฒนาในอนาคต จึงเกิดประเด็นวิพากษ์เกี่ยวกับการอนุรักษ์โรงภาพยนตร์แห่งนี้ไว้ วิทยานิพนธ์เล่มนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อรวบรวมข้อมูลที่เกี่ยวข้องเฉพาะในส่วนของโถงโรงภาพยนตร์สกาล่าและนำเสนอทางเลือกในการอนุรักษ์โถงโรงภาพยนตร์ในมุมมองเชิงความเป็นไปได้ทางการก่อสร้าง เพื่อรองรับการพัฒนาที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้น ผ่านระเบียบวิธีการศึกษาโดยเริ่มต้นจากการศึกษาจากแบบสถาปัตยกรรม บทความ ภาพถ่าย การสัมภาษณ์และการสำรวจพื้นที่จริงเพื่อนำไปวิเคราะห์รูปแบบสถาปัตยกรรม และจัดกลุ่มองค์ประกอบที่สำคัญ จากการศึกษาในเบื้องต้นนั้นถูกใช้เป็นแนวทางในการสร้างทางเลือกของการอนุรักษ์ร่วมกับทฤษฎี และหลักการการอนุรักษ์ ภายใต้เกณฑ์การเปลี่ยนแปลงของพื้นที่ ความมั่นคงทางโครงสร้าง และความสำคัญขององค์ประกอบได้เป็นทางเลือกในการอนุรักษ์ 5 ระดับ ได้แก่การอนุรักษ์องค์ประกอบทั้งหมดไปจนถึงการรื้อย้ายองค์ประกอบทั้งหมดไปอนุรักษ์บนพื้นที่อื่น นอกจากนั้นเมื่อนำทางเลือกการอนุรักษ์มาแจกแจงจะพบความแตกต่างและซับซ้อนภายใต้ความสัมพันธ์ของการเพิ่มจำนวนองค์ประกอบที่เก็บรักษาไว้บนพื้นที่ โดยประเมินได้เป็นระดับความยาก-ง่ายในการทำงาน จากที่ได้กล่าวมาจะเห็นได้ว่าการรื้อถอนเป็นอีกหนึ่งขึ้นตอนที่มีบทบาทกับการอนุรักษ์ในวิทยานิพนธ์เล่มนี้อีกประเด็นหนึ่ง อีกทั้งยังนำเสนอการจำลองแนวทางการรื้อถอนในงานอนุรักษ์ตั้งแต่การเตรียมพื้นที่ในการอนุรักษ์ไปจนถึงการรื้อย้ายองค์ประกอบทั้งหมดออกจากพื้นที่โดยใช้องค์ความรู้จากการศึกษาเกี่ยวกับการรื้อถอน และคำแนะนำจากวิศวกรประกอบด้วย ผลลัพธ์จากการศึกษาในครั้งนี้ถือเป็นการเริ่มต้นในการสร้างฐานข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับโรงภาพยนตร์สกาล่า และทำให้เห็นภาพรวมของทางเลือกการของการอนุรักษ์ ผ่านการประเมินคุณค่าและความสำคัญในการอนุรักษ์ และเกิดเป็นข้อสังเกต ข้อควรระวัง ซึ่งสามารถนำไปประกอบการตัดสินใจเลือกแนวทางการอนุรักษ์และปรับปรุงพื้นที่โรงภาพยนตร์สกาล่าได้อย่างเหมาะสม อีกทั้งยังเป็นการสนับสนุนการสร้างแนวทางการอนุรักษ์ของสถาปัตยกรรมโครงสร้างคอนกรีตเสริมเหล็ก รูปแบบสมัยใหม่ในประเทศไทยให้เกิดแนวทางการอนุรักษ์ที่มีมาตรฐาน

วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่อง "การสร้างสรรค์นาฏยศิลป์สะท้อนความกดดันที่นำไปสู่การเป็นฆาตกรหญิง" เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงสร้างสรรค์ โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อแสวงหารูปแบบและแนวความคิดหลังจากการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานทางนาฏยศิลป์ที่ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจมาจากเรื่องราวชีวิตของผู้ต้องขังหญิง 3 คนผู้ได้รับความกดดันจากครอบครัวที่นำไปสู่การเป็นฆาตกร โดยผู้วิจัยนำแนวความคิดเกี่ยวกับนาฏยศิลป์และการละครมาใช้เป็นหลักในการทำผลงานสร้างสรรค์ทางนาฏยศิลป์ชิ้นนี้ มีการรวบรวมข้อมูลโดย การสำรวจข้อมูลเชิงเอกสาร การสัมภาษณ์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญ และได้ดำเนินการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเพื่อการทดลองสร้างสรรค์ผลงานนาฏยศิลป์ เพื่อนำเสนอผลงานนี้สู่สาธารณชน จากนั้นจึงสรุปผลการวิจัย ผลการวิจัยพบว่า รูปแบบของการแสดงที่สามารถจำแนกตามองค์ประกอบของการแสดงได้ 8 ประการ ได้แก่ 1) บทการแสดง เป็นบทที่ได้มาจากชีวิตจริงของผู้หญิง 3 คนนำมาเรียบเรียงใหม่โดยเรียงลำดับจากเรื่องราวที่ได้รับความกดดันน้อยที่สุดไปถึงมากที่สุด 2) นักแสดง มีคุณสมบัติทางด้านการแสดงออกทางอารมณ์ และด้านการเคลื่อนไหวเพื่อการแสดง 3) ลีลา ใช้ลีลาท่าทางที่เป็นการเคลื่อนไหวในชีวิตประจำวันซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของนาฏยศิลป์หลังสมัยใหม่ และมีลีลาการเคลื่อนไหวที่สื่อถึงการเล่าเรื่อง 4) เครื่องแต่งกาย ใช้การแต่งกายที่มาจากบุคลิกของตัวละครในเรื่องนั้น ๆ 5) ดนตรีและเสียงประกอบการแสดง มาจากร่างกายนักแสดงประกอบกับเสียงของเครื่องดนตรีคลาริเน็ต และใช้ดนตรีเสียงสังเคราะห์จากโปรแกรมคอมพิวเตอร์ 6) อุปกรณ์ประกอบการแสดงเป็นสิ่งของที่ใช้เป็นกิจวัตรประจำวันในครัวเรือน 7) การออกแบบพื้นที่ ใช้พื้นที่ที่มีขอบเขตจำกัดให้มีความรู้สึกไม่เป็นอิสระเหมือนโดนกักขังไว้ 8) การออกแบบแสง ให้ความรู้สึกที่แสดงถึงความรุนแรง นอกจากนั้นแล้วยังได้แนวความคิดหลังจากการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานแล้วทั้งสิ้น 8 ประเด็น ดังนี้ 1) แนวคิดเกี่ยวกับนาฏยศิลป์และการละคร 2) แนวคิดทฤษฎีละครไมม์ 3) แนวคิดนาฏยศิลป์หลังสมัยใหม่ 4) แนวคิดองค์ประกอบทางด้านทัศนศิลป์ 5) แนวคิดเกี่ยวกับความรุนแรงต่อผู้หญิง 6) แนวคิดเกี่ยวกับทฤษฎีการสื่อสาร 7) แนวคิดเกี่ยวกับการให้เกียรติคู่ครอง 8) แนวคิดเกี่ยวกับพฤติกรรมการนอกใจ ผลการวิจัยเกี่ยวกับงานสร้างสรรค์ที่ได้ทั้งหมดนี้มีคุณค่าทางการวิจัยที่คนรุ่นหลังสามารถนำไปศึกษาต่อยอดได้อีกมากมาย และผลการวิจัยนี้มีความสอดคล้องกับวัตถุประสงค์ในการวิจัยทุกประการ

วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่อง "การสร้างสรรค์นาฏยศิลป์ ชุด เดอะวิทรูเวียนแมน" มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อค้นหารูปแบบและแนวคิดในการดำเนินการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานนาฏยศิลป์ที่ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจากภาพเดอะวิทรูเวียนแมนโดย เลโอนาร์โด ดาวินชี (Leonardo Da Vinci) ในประเด็นด้านสัดส่วนและรูปร่างหรือรูปทรงเรขาคณิตที่เกิดจากสรีระร่างกายของมนุษย์มาใช้เป็นแนวคิดหลักในการดำเนินงาน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ การสำรวจข้อมูลเชิงเอกสาร สัมภาษณ์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญ สื่อสารสนเทศ ข้อมูลภาคสนาม การสังเกตการณ์งานสร้างสรรค์ทางด้านนาฏยศิลป์ การสัมมนา และประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวของผู้วิจัย โดยนำข้อมูลที่ได้จากการศึกษาวิเคราะห์ สังเคราะห์ สร้างสรรค์ผลงานนาฏยศิลป์ และสรุปผล ตามลำดับ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานนาฏยศิลป์สามารถจำแนกตามองค์ประกอบของการแสดงได้ 8 ประการ ได้แก่ 1) บทการแสดง สร้างสรรค์ขึ้นใหม่จากประเด็นด้านสัดส่วนและรูปร่างหรือรูปทรงเรขาคณิตของภาพเดอะวิทรูเวียนแมน 2) นักแสดงมีคุณสมบัติด้านสัดส่วนของสรีระร่างกายในรูปแบบที่เหมือนและต่างกันมีความสามารถทางด้านนาฏยศิลป์ 3) ลีลา นำเสนอผ่านรูปแบบนาฏยศิลป์หลังสมัยใหม่ 4) เครื่องแต่งกายแสดงถึงสรีระร่างกายของนักแสดงอย่างชัดเจน 5) ดนตรีและเสียงประกอบการแสดง ใช้เสียงจากนักแสดง สิ่งแวดล้อม และดนตรีสังเคราะห์ในการสร้างบรรยากาศการแสดง 6) อุปกรณ์ประกอบการแสดง ใช้เทปกระดาษกาวสองหน้าในการสื่อสารด้านการเปรียบเทียบสรีระ สร้างสรรค์รูปเรขาคณิต และใช้เครื่องฉายภาพขนาดเล็กเข้ามาส่งเสริมการแสดง 7) พื้นที่การแสดง จัดวางตำแหน่งผู้ชมเหนือพื้นที่การแสดง โดยจัดแสดงในพื้นที่ลักษณะอื่นที่ไม่ใช่โรงละคร 8) แสง ออกแบบให้เกิดความชัดเจนในการสื่อความหมายของการแสดง นอกจากนี้ในด้านแนวคิดการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานนาฏยศิลป์ได้ให้ความสำคัญใน 8 ประเด็น ได้แก่ 1) ภาพเดอะวิทรูเวียนแมน 2) สัดส่วนและรูปร่างหรือรูปทรงเรขาคณิต 3) ความเรียบง่ายตามแนวคิดนาฏยศิลป์หลังสมัยใหม่ 4) องค์ประกอบทางทัศนศิลป์ 5) ออกแบบพื้นที่การแสดงโดยวางตำแหน่งผู้ชมอยู่ในระดับที่สูงกว่านักแสดง 6) ทฤษฎีนาฏยศิลป์ร่วมสมัย 7) อุปกรณ์ประกอบการแสดง และ 8) การแสดงที่เป็นศิลปะเพื่อศิลปะ ดังนั้นผลการวิจัยทั้งหมดนี้จึงมีความสอดคล้องและตรงตามวัตถุประสงค์ทุกประการ ผู้วิจัยได้จัดการแสดงผลงานสร้างสรรค์เพื่อเผยแพร่ มีผู้เข้าชมผลงานทั้งสิ้น 158 คน เป็นนักศึกษาทางด้านนาฏยศิลป์ ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิทางด้านนาฏยศิลป์ อาจารย์สอนนาฏยศิลป์ ศิลปะการแสดงทั้งในระดับโรงเรียนมัธยม และมหาวิทยาลัย รวมถึงผู้สนใจทั่วไป ผลจากการทำประชาพิจารณ์และแบบสอบถามสรุปได้ว่า การนำแนวคิดด้านสัดส่วนและรูปร่างหรือรูปทรงเรขาคณิตในภาพเดอะวิทรูเวียนแมนมาใช้ในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานนาฏยศิลป์เป็นสิ่งที่มีความน่าสนใจเป็นอย่างมาก โดยเฉพาะการใช้ท่าทางในชีวิตประจำวันเข้ามาใช้ในการแสดง มีการเน้นย้ำ ที่ส่งผลให้ผู้ชมสามารถรับรู้เรื่องราวการแสดงได้อย่างชัดเจน และผู้เข้าร่วมชมการแสดงยอมรับถึงรูปแบบการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานนาฏยศิลป์ชิ้นนี้ อันก่อให้เกิดองค์ความรู้ที่ควรเผยแพร่และคุณค่าต่อการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานทางด้านนาฏยศิลป์

บทประพันธ์หลวิชัย คาวี เดอะ มิวสิคัล เป็นบทประพันธ์ที่ถูกสร้างสรรค์ขึ้นจากการศึกษาและตีความนิทานพื้นบ้านเรื่องหลวิชัย คาวี โดยนำเสนอในรูปแบบของละครเพลงซึ่งใช้อารมณ์และความรู้สึกของตัวละครรวมถึงบรรยากาศของฉากแต่ละฉากในการกำหนดกรอบและแนวทางในการประพันธ์และเรียบเรียงดนตรี ความรักหลากหลายรูปแบบ เช่น พี่กับน้อง ชายกับหญิง สัตว์กับสัตว์ รวมถึงความขัดแย้ง ของตัวละครต่างๆ ที่ปรากฏอยู่ในนิทานพื้นบ้านเรื่องนี้เป็นองค์ประกอบสำคัญที่ทำให้บทเพลงมีความหลากหลายทางอารมณ์ ตัวละครหลักในบทประพันธ์นี้จะมีทำนองหลักเป็นของตนเองเพื่อแสดงความเป็นเอกลักษณ์และช่วยให้ผู้ฟังสามารถติดตามเรื่องราวและการนำเสนอของตัวละครแต่ละตัวได้อย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยทำนองหลักแต่ละทำนองจะถูกพัฒนาด้วยวิธีต่าง ๆ เช่น การขยายส่วนจังหวะ การย่อส่วนจังหวะ เพื่อให้เหมาะสมกับเหตุการณ์ต่าง ๆ บทประพันธ์นี้ประกอบด้วยบทเพลงบรรเลงและบทเพลงร้องรวมทั้งสิ้น 14 บทเพลง ความยาวประมาณ 50 นาที ผู้วิจัยมีความตั้งใจที่จะนำเสนอนิทานพื้นบ้านของไทยเรื่องนี้โดยใช้ดนตรีตะวันตกซึ่งเปรียบดั่งภาษาสากลเป็นเครื่องมือในการถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวให้กับผู้ฟังทุกชนชาติและเพื่อส่งเสริมวรรณคดีของไทยให้เข้าสู่การยอมรับในระดับนานาชาติ
