A Comparative Anatomic Study Of Leaves Of The Genus Stachys L. In Iraq, Zainab A.A. Al-Zubaedy, Ali H.E. Al-Musawi, Ali H.A Al-Mousawi

This study examined the anatomic characteristics of the leaves from 22 taxa of Stachys L. representing seven sections in northern Iraq. It found no variation in the stomatal system but noted significant taxonomic variations in other anatomical features. Differences in mesophyll tissue were observed, with S. kurdica var. brevidens showing bifacial mesophyll, while S. kurdica var. kurdica displayed unifacial mesophyll. Vascular bundle numbers varied, with S. benthamiana, S. lanigera, and S. kotscyi having 3 bundles in the middle vein, while S. ballotiformis, S. megalodonta, and S. kurdica had only 1. Additionally, S. lavandulifolia exhibited a unique V-shaped cross-section. These anatomical …

The current study has beenconduced to evaluate the effect of extracted crude terpens at the concentrations of 6,8% of seeds of Eucalyptuscamaldulensison the 4th larval instar oftheCallosobruchusmaculates and the percentage of the cowpea seed germination.The Results showed that the terpens extract of the concentration of 8% increases the mortality rate of the fourth larval instar and it reach to 63.3%, and then decrease of to 26.6,20% at concentration of 6%and forcontrol treatment respectively The percentage of adult emergence reduces to 0% at the concentration of 8% compared with control treatment in which it reach to 66.6%. Extraction Of Iraqi Jasminumsambac (L.)Oil And Study It's Effect As Antioxidant Agents, Zainab O. Salman, Bushra M. J. Alwash

This study focused on the extraction and evaluation of volatile oils from flowers, leaves, and stems of *Jasminum sambac* cultivated in Iraq using steam distillation. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was used to identify active compounds in the oils, and antioxidant activity was tested using the DPPH method. The results showed that the flower oil had the highest yield (5%) with 30 compounds, dominated by Benzyl acetate (59.37%). The leaf oil had a 1.5% yield with 43 compounds, where Benzyl acetate was also the highest (34.07%). Flower oil showed stronger antioxidant activity (96.10%) compared to leaf oil (82.30%) and ascorbic acid …

This study investigated the effect of Clenbuterol on liver, kidney function, and lipid profile in adult male rabbits. Forty rabbits were divided into four groups, with the first group receiving distilled water (control) and the others receiving Clenbuterol at doses of 2, 4, and 6 μg/kg for 30 days. Blood samples were collected at 14 and 30 days for biochemical analysis. Results showed a non-significant increase in AST and ALT enzyme activities in the lower doses (2 and 4 μg/kg) but a significant increase in the 6 μg/kg group compared to the control. Toxoplasma gondii has a worldwide distribution and it is one of the most prevalent infectious agents in Iraq. The study was conducted on 200 serum samples of unmarried female university of students age ranged between 18 to 26 years to detect Toxoplasma gondii antibodies. The aim of this study was to detect T. gondii antibodies among unmarried female students in Iraqi universities using different serological tests. Seventy six (38%) serum samples out of 200 subjects were positive for toxoplasma antibodies by Latex agglutination test (LAT). There is a scarcity of data regarding algal flora of Tigris River in the territory of Baghdad. The present study deals with Tigris River in Al-Dora site in Baghdad province from November 2014 to June 2015 in order to shed light on its epiphytic Algae on (Phragmites australis) and epipelic algae. An amount of 183 and 154 species of epiphytic and epipelic algae are identified respectfully. The Bacillariophyceae (diatoms) are the dominant algal group followed by Cyanophyceae and Chlorophyceae. This study evaluated the antifungal activity of a combination of essential oils extracted from Peppermint (Mentha piperita), Thyme (Thymus vulgaris), and Common Sage (Salvia officinalis L.) against water molds. Active compounds identified via HPLC included Camphor, Menthol, Thujone, and Thymol. The study measured the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC), Minimum Fungicidal Concentration (MFC), and LD50 after 48 and 96 hours of treatment on common carp fingerlings. Results showed significant differences in MIC and MFC compared to Malachite green, with lower effective concentrations for the essential oil mixture. The LD50 after 48, 96 hours was 34.51 ppm, with no significant differences in …

New series of metal ions complexes have been prepared from the new ligand 1,5-Dimethyl-4-(5-oxohexan-2-ylideneamino)-2-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-3 (2H)-one derived from 2,5-hexandione and 4-aminophenazone. Then, its V(IV), Ni(II), Cu(II), Pd(II), Re(V) and Pt(IV) complexes were prepared. The compounds have been characterized by FT-IR, UV-Vis, mass and 1H and 13C-NMR spectra, TGA curve, magnetic moment, elemental microanalyses (C.H.N.O.), chloride containing, Atomic absorption and molar conductance. HyperChem-8 program has been used to predict structural geometries of compounds in gas phase, the heat of formation, (binding, total and electronic energy) and dipole moment at 298 K.

In this research the measurement of Uranium concentration for thirty five soil samples,distributed on (7) regions from south –east Baghdad are taken for five depth for each Locution at (0-3cm, 10cm,20cm,30cm,40cm) by using fission tracks registration in (CR-39) detector obtained by the bombardment of ( U)with thermal neutrons from (Am241-Be) neutron sourcethat has flux of (5 ×103n cm-2s-1).Theresults obtained shows the maximum concentration of Uranium at the AL-Twithawas(0.881±0.086) ppm andminimum concentration at the Salman pak (0.441±0.036) ppm .

A series of new 2-quinolone derivatives linked to benzene sulphonyl moieties were performed by many steps: the first step involved preparation of different coumarins (A1,A2) by condensation of different substituted phenols with ethyl acetoacetate. The compound A1 was treated with nitric acid to afford two isomers of nitrocoumarin derivatives (A3) and (A4). The prepared compounds (A2, A3) were treated with hydrazine hydrate to synthesize different 2-quinolone compounds (A5,A6) while the coumarin treated with different amines gave compounds (A7,A8). PVC membrane sensor for the selective determination of Mefenamic acid (MFA) was constructed. The sensor is based on ion association of MFA with Dodecaphospho molybdic acid (PMA) and Dodeca–Tungstophosphoric acid(PTA) as ion pairs. Nitro benzene (NB) and di-butyl phthalate (DBPH) were used as plasticizing agents in PVC matrix membranes. The ligand 4-(2-aminmo-5-nitro-phenylazo)-1,5-dimethyl-2-phenyl-1,2-dihydro-pyrazol-3-one derived from 4-aminoantipyrine and 4-nitroaniline was synthesized. The synthesized ligand was characterized by 1HNMR, FT-IR, UV-Vis spectra and (C.H.N) analysis. Complexes of (YIII and LaIII ) with the ligand were prepared in aqueous ethanol with a 1:2 M:L ratio and at optimum pH. The prepared complexes were characterized by using flame atomic absorption, FT-IR, UV-Vis spectra,(C.H.N) analysis and conductivity measurement. Plane cubics curves may be classified up to isomorphism or projective equivalence. In this paper, the inequivalent elliptic cubic curves which are non-singular plane cubic curves have been classified projectively over the finite field of order nineteen, and determined if they are complete or incomplete as arcs of degree three. Also, the maximum size of a complete elliptic curve that can be constructed from each incomplete elliptic curve are given.

In this paper we investigated some new properties of ��-Armendariz rings and studied the relationships between ��-Armendariz rings and central Armendariz rings, nil-Armendariz rings, semicommutative rings, skew Armendariz rings, ��-compatible rings and others. We proved that if �� is a central Armendariz, then �� is a ��-Armendariz ring. Also, we explained how skew Armendariz rings can be ��-Armendariz, for that we proved that if �� is a skew Armendariz ��-compatible ring, then �� is ��-Armendariz. Examples are given to illustrate the relations between concepts.

According to the CDC, autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability (2008). In the US, the prevalence is estimated at 1 in 68 births. Academic libraries need to be aware of this growing population so that we can educate library staff and be prepared to help people who learn and communicate differently. College students with disabilities face inequity when using the academic library, including the physical space, the library website, programming or lack thereof, restrictive loan periods, and resources that aren’t available in formats that they need. Physicians range in age from their early twenties to their nineties. These same physicians care for people many times, from before their birth until their end of life experiences. Physicians must provide the best possible care to these patients. In order to do this, physicians need information. This poster presentation explores the information needs of physicians as well as the information seeking behavior these physicians follow.

This poster presents the findings from my Community Resource Audit in LIS 601, which focused on teen library users. During my research, I found that teens usually seek information on the following topics: Health, Career Information, Homework Help, Reading Material, News, and General Curiosity. Along with addressing these needs, my presentation will also discuss barriers to teen access, including reasons why they might choose not to seek information. Finally, I will present my "Teen Resource Guide," which was designed to help teens conduct research on each of the aforementioned topics.

Poverty is on the rise within the United States. Public Libraries located in large cities and rural communities may be seeing an increase in usage from children who identify as low-income or poor. Using national statistics from the United States and local statistics from Lawrenceburg, Indiana , I will explain how poverty is on the rise within the United States. I will then outline how to discover local poverty statistics and how those statistics can be used to directly engage the low-income and poor population within a library district.

This poster highlights the Community Resource Audit I created on teenagers’ information seeking behaviors. By conducting a literature review as well as distributing a survey to teens, I found that while they want to be informed, they often do not seek out many different types of informational resources. To respond, I created an online guide that presents reliable open resources to help students with class projects and additional outlets to help them stay informed on current events.
