A Markerless Augmented Reality System Using One-Shot Structured Light, Bingyao Huang Dec 2015

A Markerless Augmented Reality System Using One-Shot Structured Light, Bingyao Huang

Theses and Dissertations

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that superimposes computer-generated 3D and/or 2D information on the user’s view of a surrounding environment in real-time, enhancing the user’s perception of the real world. Regardless of the field for which the application is applied, or its primary purpose in the scene, many AR pipelines share what might be thinned down to two specific goals, the first being range-finding the environment (whether this be in knowing a depth, precise 3D coordinates, or a camera pose estimation), and the second being registration and tracking of the 3D environment, such that an environment moving with respect …

Hypertension Patient Compliance, Taylor Myers Dec 2015

Hypertension Patient Compliance, Taylor Myers

University Honors College

Hypertension is a prevalent condition in the United States that often has many comorbidities. It is usually asymptomatic, so patients are less likely to comply with treatment if they feel healthy. This is a growing concern due to the complications that can arise from hypertension. Hypertension can be associated with a lower quality of life in patients that have symptoms. However, in patients that do not show symptoms they may feel that they have a higher quality of life by not changing their preexisting habits. The reasons for patient noncompliance will be studied as well as interventions to increase compliance, …

Calibration Of Numerical Model For Shoreline Change Prediction Using Satellite Imagery Data, Sigit Sutikno, Keisuke Murakami, Dwi Puspo Handoyo, Manyuk Fauzi

Makara Journal of Technology

This paper presents a method for calibration of numerical model for shoreline change prediction using satellite imagery data in muddy beach. Tanjung Motong beach, a muddy beach that is suffered high abrasion in Rangsang Island, Riau province, Indonesia was picked as study area. The primary numerical modeling tool used in this research was GENESIS (GENEralized Model for Simulating Shoreline change), which has been successfully applied in many case studies of shoreline change phenomena on a sandy beach. The model was calibrated using two extracted coastlines satellite imagery data, such as Landsat-5 TM and Landsat-8 OLI/TIRS. The extracted coastline data were analyzed …

See A Different World: Interactive Storytelling For Children To Raise Awareness Of Color Blindness, Dan Yu

Theses

Children play with interactive applications to gain knowledge in their daily life. There are different kinds of interactive applications that help educate children through visual storytelling. In reviewing the current apps available, few of them were written or designed for children with disabilities, especially children with color blindness. Through research, it was discovered that children lack an awareness of color blindness. This thesis aims to design an effective, interactive visual storytelling application to raise awareness of color blindness for elementary school aged children. The project helps children gain knowledge about color blindness through reading and playing activities within the app. …

Effect Of Strontium In Soldering Resistance, Pengyu Zhu

Purdue Polytechnic Masters Theses

ABSTRACT

Pengyu Zhu. M.S., Purdue University, December 2015. Effect of Strontium in Soldering Resistance. Major Professor: Qingyou Han.

Extrusive effect has been taken in the area of die soldering study because such phenomenon is responsible to die failures. Die failure causes huge amount of maintenance cost and machines shutting down. Knowing the mechanism of die soldering and soldering resistance saves not only money but also reduces machine downtime. Industry has found that strontium, instead of iron conventionally, has significant effect in enhancing soldering resistance of H13 steel. Previous studies on strontium effect proposed the ideas that strontium changed the surface …
