Psychological Skills Training Manual For A Youth Baseball Team, Brian J. Guerriero Jan 2015

Psychological Skills Training Manual For A Youth Baseball Team, Brian J. Guerriero

Master of Education in Applied Human Development Graduate Projects

Research has supported the benefits of psychological skills training (PST) programs such as improving the cognitive processes of athletes, which in turn can improve their performance and enhance its consistency (e.g., Blakeslee & Goff, 2007; Frey et al., 2003; Thellwell, Greenlees, & Weston, 2006). A PST program can help athletes to set more effective goals, manage stress more efficiently, build self-confidence, and improve concentration (Horn, 2008; Weinberg & Gould, 2011). In this project, I developed a psychological skills training manual aimed at youth baseball players. Achievement goal theory provides the framework for this PST program. Creating a task-oriented motivational climate …

Mapping Of The Honey Value Chain And Analysis Of Changes In Gender Roles And Factors Influencing Women Empowerment Among Beekeepers In Kitui County, Kenya, Peter Dennis M. Mburu

All Master’s Theses

Beekeeping is an important activity that helps rural communities to raise additional income to improve their livelihoods. Often, among rural beekeeping households, it has been widely adopted as an income diversification strategy. In addition, it is a sustainable form of agriculture beneficial to the environment. An intervention conducted by the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), introduced modern hives such as the Langstroth and the stingless beehive through the Commercial Insect Programme (CIP) of the institute. Trainings given to the community were for the development of a value chain and hence the formation of farmer groups that aided …

Intentional Synergy: The New Librarian As Co-Learner, Christopher Lawton Jan 2015

Intentional Synergy: The New Librarian As Co-Learner, Christopher Lawton

Libraries Faculty & Staff Publications

Questions abound regarding the changing fate of libraries, and librarians, too, must reconsider their role. New Librarians increasingly find themselves serving not just as human information retrieval systems, but as “safari guides,” leading the curious through an information ecosystem growing explosively. Gone are the days of inscrutable librarians definitively announcing that they had provided all available information on a topic. Today, New Librarians need to cultivate a toolkit of skills and roles surrounding learning and inquiry, parsing new ideas quickly, challenging assumptions, and guiding their communities through the information ecosystem. As a partner, not a service provider, New Librarians shine.

A Qualitative Analysis Of Moral Leadership Crises In Kenyan Evangelical Churches As It Relates To Developing Authentic Leaders, Peter N. Mulinge

All Electronic Theses and Dissertations

This project addressed the moral leadership crises among the evangelical churches of Kenya. Evangelicalism is the fastest growing religious movement in Kenya, a country that already has Africa’s largest percentage of evangelicals overall. This makes it imperative to promote authentic leadership in Kenyan churches. But the concept of leadership development there is overlooked, and as a result churches suffer from a lack of authentic leaders. In this vacuum, Kenyan churches are heavily influenced by traditional African leadership models that can be authoritarian, hereditary, and overwhelmingly corrupt. The latest Corruption Perception Index of 2013, launched by the global agency of Transparency …
