Background:Epidemiological work suggests that youth with histories of trauma or bipolar disorder have lower quality of life (QoL) than generally healthy youth without a history of bipolar disorder or trauma.

Aim: To evaluate whether trauma and bipolar disorder have a negative effect in youth seeking services for emotional and behavioral difficulties.

Method & Sample: Participants were 596 youths and caregiver dyads from an urban community mental health center and an academic medical center in Cleveland, OH. Diagnoses were based on semi-structured interviews of the parent and youth. The KINDL-R measured Total, Emotional, Self-esteem, Family, Friend, School, and Physical QoL. …

Bullying and aggressive behaviors have adverse effects on many children. Violent behavior among children occurs most commonly in the school setting and may lead to negative emotional outcomes later in life (Kub & Feldman, 2015). According to a study conducted by Baroncelli et al. (2014), boys who have been found to be high in aggression have a difficult time perceiving relevant social cues such as fear and anger. However, boys were prone to frequently identify happiness and fear in faces when a different emotion was expressed. For girls, Baroncelli and colleagues did not find any significant relationships. Clostridium difficile infections (CDI) are the leading nosocomial infections worldwide. Humans are asymptomatic carriers of C. difficile spores in the intestinal tract. The process known as germination occurs when otherwise harmless C. difficile spores are converted to toxin-producing cells upon recognition of bile salts in humans. This distinctive transition ultimately leads to the onset of disease and recurrent CDI. Germination profiles will be characterized in response to peptidoglycan (PG) fragments isolated from various bacterial species. These specific peptidoglycan fragments contain different amino acid residues that may induce different germination responses. In 2000, RincÓn et al. reported an extensive study of the bulk material of CuInTe₂ along with its comparison to its ordered defect compounds [3]. Using perspectives typical of English and theatrical fields of study, this capstone project interprets Molina from Manuel Puig’s 1976 novel Kiss of the Spider Woman as a heterosexual transgender woman and then investigates why such an interpretation does not exist in performance adaptations. Although Molina has been called a transgender woman in recent criticism, there is a conflation of gender and sexuality that has been uninvestigated in this text. It has not been addressed how Molina constructs her identity or how this interpretation might be employed in performance, which this essay seeks to confront. The first half of the project …

Organ donation shortages are a problem in Nevada. A shift in policy towards an opt-out system could more than double the number of registered organ donors in Nevada. A Libertarian Paternalistic strategy would allow potential donors to express their preference for organ donations more accurately. Currently Nevada abides by an opt-in policy where people are only organ donors if they explicitly request to become donors. Under an opt-out policy, people would be presumed organ donors unless they requested not to be donors. To examine the effects of royal jelly (RJ) on testicular damage in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats. Materials and methods: Eighteen adult Wistar albino rats were used, 6 in each of the 3 treatment groups: Group A: control, Group B: STZ-induced diabetes (untreated), Group C: STZ-induced diabetes plus RJ (400 mg/kg daily for 4 weeks). Diabetes was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of STZ (60 mg/kg). Resulting persecution, as well as DDT water contamination, led to a major decline of the species throughout its range. Research shows that the main components of cormorant diets vary significantly among forage, invasive, or economically important fish species. Adolescents experience multiple transitions during early adolescence and are likely to experience stressors, which increases their risk for poor mental health outcomes. Research has established positive associations between stressful events and psychological symptoms in early adolescence. It is important to consider factors that may strengthen or weaken the impact of these stressors. Extant literature suggests that a pessimistic attributional style (PAS) can increase vulnerability to depression in the presence of stressful events; yet less research has confirmed these links with anxiety. Fungal spores as a prominent type of primary biological aerosol particles (PBAP) have been incorporated into the COSMO-ART (Consortium for Small-scale Modelling- Aerosols and Reactive Trace gases) regional atmospheric model. Two literature-based emission rates for fungal spores derived from fungal spore colony counts and chemical tracer measurements were used as a parameterization baseline for this study. A third, new emission parameterization for fluorescent biological aerosol particles (FBAP) was adapted to field measurements from four locations across Europe. Tallgrass prairie has been converted to agriculture over the past century, making it one of the most threatened ecosystems globally. Agriculture conversion of prairie has severely fragmented the landscape and many grassland birds are now in decline and threatened with regional extirpation. Restoration projects have sought to increase the quality and size of prairie fragments by converting cultivated land back to prairie through revegetation and management with prescribed fire, hypothetically increasing breeding habitat for grassland birds. Coxiella burnetii is an obligate intracellular bacterial pathogen that undergoes a biphasic developmental cycle, alternating between a small cell variant (SCV) and a large cell variant (LCV). Despite the remarkable niche and life cycle of C. burnetii, little is known about its modes of regulation and the roles that non-coding RNAs play in its growth and development. There are several isoxazoles in general medical practice and their metabolic fate and disposition is well known, and thus, this heterocyclic ring is often considered among the privileged scaffolds or templates for drug design and discovery. Many examples can be found of 3-aryl-isoxazoles which in theory have a chiral axis, yet actual experimental examples of direct determinations of isoxazole rotational barriers are few and far between. Partially migratory populations in which some individuals move to allopatric ranges during one season while others remain on their shared range, offer a unique opportunity to understand which factors shape the realized niche of individuals with plastic movement behaviors. For ungulates, forage and its spatiotemporal variability, risk (predation, humans) and density have been suggested to be the main determinants for the probability, distance and timing of migration. Roe deer (Capreolus caproelus), a small browsing ungulate with a high ecological plasticity and a wide distribution, present an ideal model species to test hypotheses on migration plasticity.

This study focused on the ways in which past student involvement shaped women’s future career aspirations and helped them navigate their present career situations to achieve success. The study extended Astin’s Student Involvement Theory by considering how student involvement impacted career outcomes.
