A Case Study Of Four Female Electrician Technicians In A Male-Dominated Occupation, Maniphone S. Dickerson

The purpose of this study was to understand the reasons the four female participants decided to pursue electrician technician training, their perspectives of the apprenticeship program, their perceptions of successful employment in a male-dominated occupation, and differences in treatment based on their gender. The exploratory questions that guided the study were: what led the females to make the decision for applying to the electrician technician apprenticeship; what was the nature of the education and training experiences of the participants in the electrician technician apprenticeship program, what were the participants’ perceptions of being successful in advancement within the workforce as a …

Conflicts between people and wild animals in cities are undoubtedly as old as urban living itself. In the United States it is only of late, however, that many of the species now found in cities have come to live there. The increasing kind and number of human-wildlife conflicts in urbanizing environments makes it a priority that effective and humane means of conflict resolution be found. The urban public wants conflicts with wildlife resolved humanely, but needs to know what the alternative management approaches are, and what ethical standards should guide their use. On October 29 & 30, 2014 SURA hosted an interdisciplinary workshop on the subject, Understanding and Modeling Risk and Resilience in Complex Coastal Systems, as a prelude to a new SURA-led community science initiative integrating social and natural science. The goals were to identify the most critical issues in assessing future risks, vulnerabilities and resilience of complex coastal systems.

The Republic of Kosovo has issued several legal acts which are in place to prevent and combat the phenomenon of money laundering. These acts determine the issue of state response and other institutional mechanisms which have competence in the field of law enforcement to strike this criminal phenomenon. Until now, prevention of money laundering is regulated by: UNMIK Regulation, Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code, the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Prevention of Terrorist Financing and the Law on Extended Powers for Confiscation of Assets Acquired by Criminal Offence.
