‘Tell Your Own Story’: Manhood, Masculinity And Racial Socialization Among Black Fathers And Their Sons, Quaylan Allen
‘Tell Your Own Story’: Manhood, Masculinity And Racial Socialization Among Black Fathers And Their Sons, Quaylan Allen
Education Faculty Articles and Research
This study examines how black fathers and sons in the U.S. conceptualize manhood and masculinity and the racial socializing practices of black men. Drawing upon data from an ethnography on Black male schooling, this paper uses the interviews with fathers and sons to explore how race and gender intersect in how Black males make meaning of their gendered performances. Common notions of manhood are articulated including independence, responsibility and providership. However, race and gender intersect in particular ways for black men. The fathers engaged in particular racial socializing practices preparing their sons for encounters with racism. Both fathers and sons …

A Method For Achieving Analytic Formulas For Three Body Integrals Consisting Of Powers And Exponentials In All Three Interparticle Hyllerass Coordinates, Chris M. Keating
A Method For Achieving Analytic Formulas For Three Body Integrals Consisting Of Powers And Exponentials In All Three Interparticle Hyllerass Coordinates, Chris M. Keating
Dissertations and Theses
After an introduction to the variational principle of three body systems via the Helium atom, we present general analytical formulas for the radial parts of integrals that occur when three body systems are described using wave functions that consist of powers and exponentials in all three interparticle Hylleraas coordinates [Hylleraas1929]. This work is an extension of integrals given by Harris, Frolov and Smith, Jr. [Harris2004]. Specifically included are radial integrals encountered in calculations involving the dipole moment matrix element in Hylleraas coordinates that contain a function f(kr1) (such as a spherical Bessel function) in addition to …

Quick Discrimination Of Storage Periods For Muscat Grape Based On Electronic Nose, Chen Chen, Lu Xiaoxiang, Zhang Peng, Chen Shaohui, Li Jiangkuo
Food and Machinery
The aim was to establish a rapid discrimination method of Muscat grape during storage based on the electronic nose technology. Samples of different storage time stored in 10, 0 ℃ were detected using PEN3 electronic nose system, operating loadings contribution rate analysis of sensors, principal component analysis, linear discriminant analysis to distinguish the storage period, establishing of the discriminant model, and then compared the prediction power of Mahalanobis distance, Euclidean distance, correlation, discriminant function analysis method by unknown samples. At the same time, the rate of good fruit, soluble solids content, total acid content, VC content, hardness index were …

Outcome Of Endonasal Endoscopic Dacryocystorhinostomy In Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction, Ali A.Abdalwahid, Ragheed T. Miteab, Hussein J. Mohsin
Iraqi Postgraduate Medical Journal
ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: Dacryocystorhinostomy (dcr) is the standard trcatmert for nasolacrimal duct Obstruction .based on opening the lacrimal sac, which is connected to the nose, by removing the bone and the mucosa between these two structures at the level of the middle meatus. OBJECTIVE: To highlight the procedure of endonasal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This was a prospective study conducted at Ghazy Al- hariri teaching hospital for surgical specialties during the period from 22nd of February 2011to the 4th of March 2013. A total of 22 patients were referred from the ophthalmologist for endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy after had been diagnosed as …

ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: Keratoconus is a progressive non inflammatory bilateral (usually asymmetric) ectatic corneal disease characterized by paraxial stromal thinning ,weakening that lead to corneal surface distortion ,vision loss primarily from irregular astigmatism and myopia and secondly from corneal scar. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate visual and refractive outcomes after intracorneal continuous ring (ICCR) implantation combined with intrapocket corneal collagen cross linking in patient with keratoconus. Setting: Eye Specialty Private Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq. METHODS: This study assessed the results of implantation of Myoring ICCR combined with CXL in 40 eyes with KC. Outcome measures include UDVA,CDVA(spectacle correction),refraction, complications and side effects. Postoperative follow- …

Iraqi Postgraduate Medical Journal
ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system affecting nearly 2 million people worldwide. Multiple sclerosis typically begins in early adulthood and has a variable prognosis. OBJECTIVE: To determine the factors that affects the prognosis in Iraqi patients with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This study includes fifty patients with relapsing remitting MS and was conducted from March 2007 to July 2008 in Baghdad Teaching Hospital MS clinic. A study protocol sheet was done and filled from the patient’s database in the MS clinic. The prognostic indicator of residual disability depends on …
