Gender Differences Associated With Memory Recall, Lee Morgan Gunn

This study investigated whether a gender difference existed in the context of romantic relationships. Participants rated positively valanced words and negatively valanced words, that were related to a romantic relationship, on how relevant they were to realistic romantic relationships. Participants were then given a free recall task to recall any words that they rated earlier. The study found that a gender difference did exist in the context of negatively valanced words. Women were more successful in recall of negatively valanced words than men. These findings indicate that women encode emotional information differently than men encode emotional information and recall that …

Objective: To examine patients' opinions of clinical pharmacy services, especially Medication Therapy Management (MTM), following the administration of influenza immunization. Methods: The McLean Institute for Public Service and Community Engagement at the University of Mississippi funded a service-learning project for student pharmacists to administer influenza immunizations to medically underserved patients. The project was conducted at a clinic for uninsured patients in Southaven, Mississippi but was open to the public. Patients (n=52) received an influenza immunization followed by a personal medication record during the observation period. The Effects Of Exercise-Induced Muscle Damage On Aerobic Capacity Tested Through Repeated Vo2max Tests, Luke Burnett

High-intensity resistance training alongside aerobic training has been seen to improve aerobic performance due to the gains strength that accompany said resistance training. However, it has been documented that the exercise-induced muscle damage (EIMD) that results from the resistance training can impair aerobic performance in the days following. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to assess the time-course of recovery from EIMD for up to seven days following muscle-damaging protocol. An Analysis Of The Media's Coverage Of The Columbine High School And Sandy Hook Elementary School Shootings, Mara Joffe

The primary purpose of the current research was to determine what ethical challenges have evolved for journalists covering breaking news stories, focusing on the differences in print coverage between the 1999 Columbine school shooting and the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting. A total of 435 news stories originating from the Denver Post, the Hartford Courant and the Chicago Tribune were used in the analysis, categorized by type, main point, length and tone of each article. This study aims to determine the possible economic success or failure of Croatia in the European Union based on three economic indicators: foreign direct investment (FDI), unemployment, and infrastructure. This project attempts to tackle one of the inevitable aspects of life: transformations. The study of these transformations are written through the life and literature of C.S. Lewis, following events of his life and how those reflect in his nonfiction works. Through the thesis, I explore different areas of transformation through Lewis: coming to life (or belief), love, pain, grief—all culminating in joy. Cellular senescence is a slow, biological process of aging that involves the accumulation of various changes to the internal environment of a cell, most notably the buildup of acidic B-galactosidase. These changes, both structural and molecular in nature, disable metabolism of many cellular processes and eventually induce apoptosis. As cells divide, the ends of chromosomes, telomeres, slowly shorten. Once telomere shortening reaches critical levels, those chromosomes may no longer replicate properly, leading to cellular process complication and apoptosis. Telomerase is a reverse transcriptase that adds nucleotides to telomeres, elongating them and successfully delaying endothelial cell senescence. Endothelial cells serve an …

Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine what expanded roles have been identified for pharmacists by the states in disaster relief efforts, what regulations currently exist for pharmacists in disaster relief efforts in each state, and whether or not disaster relief and public health training should be added to the pharmacy school curriculum. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive design was used to survey fifty-three boards of pharmacy via email and Qualtrics Survey Software. It features updated capital requirements and new ways to measure bank risk; however, the validity of these new standards was called into question during the financial crisis that began in 2008. Israeli Arab political parties are observed to determine if these ethnic political parties are successful in Israel. A brief explanation of four Israeli Arab political parties, Hadash, Arab Democratic Party, Balad, and United Arab List, is given as well as a brief description of Israeli history and the Israeli political system. Modeling Nitroglycerin-Induced Migraine In Rats, Stephanie Staszko

The present research sought to determine whether nitroglycerin (NTG) produced changes in clinically relevant endophenotypes of migraine. Rats were given a single injection of NTG or vehicle with the following dependent measures recorded: Rat Grimace Scale, hot and cold tail flick latency, Rotor-Rod performance, and photophobia and movement in traditional and modified light/dark boxes. NTG increased rat grimace scores but did not produce thermal allodynia nor photophobia. Further, NTG produced paradoxical increases in Rotor-Rod performance and movement. These results demonstrate that a single injection of NTG does not produce behaviors that parallel clinical symptoms of migraine.
