The purpose of this study was to explore the traditional BSN student’s experience in choosing an initial area of practice and influences on this choice. Understanding of this experience is important for educators and healthcare agencies so they may utilize this information to improve the initial area of practice experience. This qualitative phenomenological study was based on van Manen’s hermeneutic phenomenological approach. Data were collected through participant interviews that were analyzed for themes related to participant experiences of choosing an initial area of practice. During the midst of the most desperate struggle America has ever known, the nation’s taxsystem underwent drastic change. To facilitate this change, the United States needed men ofintegrity, ability, and leadership – and accountants rallied to the cause. Through no act of compulsion, other than patriotic zeal, the accounting profession responded by lobbying for tax simplification, and time extensions, while laboring tirelessly to educate preparers, the taxpaying public, and congressional authorities.

In recent years, the introduction and investigation of prediction markets and their uses has become very popular in the economics and finance literature. One place where the use of sports prediction markets, more commonly thought of as betting markets, is quite helpful is in exploring the validity of the uncertainty of outcome hypothesis. The uncertainty of outcome hypothesis states that fans prefer to watch games where the expected outcome of the game is close. We test this hypothesis for Big East college basketball, using betting market prices, and find support for this hypothesis in this market. In addition, expected scoring, …

The purpose of this paper is to discuss whether or not U.S. Banks will have to consolidate to survive and succeed in the 21st Century. In the past decade, the financial services industry has experienced one of three periods of great turmoil since the Great Depression. This upheaval has led to dramatic shifts in the competitive and regulatory environments in which financial service providers operate. The result of these changes is that many more small and mid-sized banks will find it necessary, or even attractive, to merge with competitors, either voluntarily or involuntarily, during the course of the next decade.

Student Perceptions Of Credibility And Enhancing The Integrity Of Online Business Courses: A Case Study, Michael P. Watters, Paul J. Robertson, Renae K. Clark

Students enrolled in business courses were asked to complete a survey questionnaire pertaining to cheating in online business courses. Students were asked about their perceptions of cheating in online business courses as well as their opinions regarding the credibility of online coursesand the effectiveness of different control techniques that may be used to prevent cheating. Eighty-one percent of respondents indicated that they had knowledge of or had observed cheating occurring in an online business course, 50 percent indicated they believe that there is more cheating in online courses (compared with traditional courses) and 34 percent indicated that online courses are …

This paper presents a comprehensive reference analysis of the knowledge management discipline in which 15,342 references were reviewed from 356 articles published in selected Information Systems (IS) journals. Authors, articles, books, and book chapters are presented based on their impact on IS KM (Knowledge Management) research, as well as an overall contribution ranking. From this data a comprehensive guide of journal articles, books, and chapters is created that IS KM researchers will find useful. This guide lays a foundation for future IS KM researchers.

This study describes the research papers published in the International Journal of Project Management (IJPM) and the Project Management Journal (PMJ) over a ten-year period. The contribution is a picture of the level of rigor and research maturity in project managemen tresearch during this period since each paper is categorized using research design framework. In addition, we determine the authors and institutions that have been the most frequent contributorsin order to provide a foundation for the discussion of communication with the field and related disciplines. Finally, previous studies on industry application areas have been updated for this ten year period.

This thesis discusses linear dichroism, and in particular the matrix method behind the spectroscopic technique. Linear dichroism uses the difference in the absorption of light that is parallel to the orientation axis and the absorption of light that is perpendicular to the orientation axis. From this process, the structure and function of molecules can be studied. The matrix method diagonalizes a Hamiltonian matrix with a unitary matrix. This Hamiltonian matrix is constructed from the transition energies, which are the diagonal elements, and coupling energies, which are off-diagonal elements.

Based on a study conducted by Devendra Singh in 1993, it is believed that males prefer females with a lower waist-to-hip ratio of 0.7, as compared to higher ones. This may be due to the evolutionary advantage of these females being more fertile and able to reproduce. However, social media has been suggesting that thinner females are more attractive. One way society measures thinness is by a characteristic known as the 'thigh-gap' that many females strive to obtain. Concerns over food production and processing, along with increasing outbreaks of foodborne illnesses and antibiotic resistant infections have led many consumers to seek alternative food sources in the organic and local food markets. This study compared conventional, USDA certified organic, and local farmer's market milk types to determine whether there is any noticeable benefit to purchasing organic or locally harvested milk in terms of their bacterial populations and level of antibiotic resistance. Samples from various milk types were plated on Tryptic Soy Agar and Milk Agar plates to enumerate bacteria, and the cultivated bacteria tested for resistance to the antibiotics …

A majority of the information came from staff members in the Ole Miss Athletics Department and the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation, including information from my own experiences working with both organizations.
