The Relationship Of Social, Personal, And Academic Growth Between Theatre And Non-Theatre Arts Students : A Comparative Study, Kristy Burchard

Capstone Projects and Master's Theses

This paper discusses the results of a systematic research design to determine academic, personal and social developmental differences between two adolescent groups, one group that had taken part in at least four theatre arts workshops and a demographically comparable group that had not attended theses workshops. I utilized Ex Post Facto research, which is a retrospective research study that allowed me to seek a possible and plausible relationship between these two groups. Both groups answered a 30-question survey. The measured outcome fell into one of three categories: Academic development, personal and social development. The questions posed were related to making …

Milk And Other Intoxicating Choices: Official State Symbol Adoption, Ryan A. Valentin

Law Faculty Scholarly Articles

Although the practice of adopting official state symbols is widespread, little has been written on what legislators, when tasked with choosing a state symbol, should take into consideration. An examination of select official state symbols of the Commonwealth of Kentucky will contribute to an understanding of what official state symbols are, the purpose they serve, the qualities they should reflect, and how the value of symbols adopted may be improved through the application of standard best practices.

The Marauder’S Son: An Exploration Of The Classical Story Ballet And Children’S Literature, Emily H. Kleeman Jan 2014

The Marauder’S Son: An Exploration Of The Classical Story Ballet And Children’S Literature, Emily H. Kleeman

Pitzer Senior Theses

The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling was, for many Millennials, a defining literary and media experience. The popularity of the series has spawned many fan-made parodies. Meanwhile, in recent years, the classical Petipa story ballet style has begun to give way to more modern structures of choreography. The Marauder’s Son, the culmination of a yearlong choreographic endeavor, is a story ballet that strives to introduce new audiences to classical dance through the use of the first book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The full production is available for viewing in the …

Journal of the Association for Communication Administration

Assessment looms large across our campuses as an instrument of evaluation, accountability, and development. Communication departments are called on to establish assessment programs for their graduate and undergraduate curriculum programs. Additionally, departments that offer courses in the general education programs are often the first departments approached for assessment of those courses as part of general education assessment. This case study describes the successes and challenges of a communication department’s experience in establishing and maintaining a general education assessment program of their Basic Oral Communication course. Preliminary data and analysis is included in reporting the outcome of these efforts.
