Electron-Impact Vibrational Excitation Of Vibrationally Excited H2 Molecules Involving The Resonant 2(Sigma)G+ Rydberg-Excited Electronic State, R Celiberto, R. K. Janev, V Laporta, J Tennyson, J. M. Wadehra Dec 2013

Electron-Impact Vibrational Excitation Of Vibrationally Excited H2 Molecules Involving The Resonant 2(Sigma)G+ Rydberg-Excited Electronic State, R Celiberto, R. K. Janev, V Laporta, J Tennyson, J. M. Wadehra

Physics and Astronomy Faculty Research Publications

Electron-impact theoretical cross sections and rate coefficients for vibrational excitation of vibrationally excited H2 molecules, occurring through the H−2 resonant species in the 2Σ+g Rydberg-excited electronic state, are presented. The cross sections are calculated as functions of the incident electron energy by adopting the local-complex-potential model for resonant collisions and by using ab initio calculated molecular potentials and resonance widths. The calculations have been extended to all possible vibrational transitions linking all 15 vibrational levels of the electronic ground state of the H2 molecule. The corresponding rate coefficients are also obtained as a function of the electron temperature by assuming …

Think Your Business Is Ready For Internationalization?, Michael Lee, Michael Wright

Accountancy Faculty Publications and Presentations

Many small and medium-size enterprises that reach a relative saturation point in their domestic market look toward the global stage as a way to grow into a multinational corporation. This is known as internationalization, the process of increasing business involvement in international operations. Internationalization requires considerable resources and coordination, and it is fraught with business risks.

The Effect Of Protein Timing On Muscle Strength And Hypertrophy: A Meta-Analysis, Brad Jon Schoenfeld, Alan Albert Aragon, James W. Krieger Dec 2013

The Effect Of Protein Timing On Muscle Strength And Hypertrophy: A Meta-Analysis, Brad Jon Schoenfeld, Alan Albert Aragon, James W. Krieger

Publications and Research

Protein timing is a popular dietary strategy designed to optimize the adaptive response to exercise. The strategy involves consuming protein in and around a training session in an effort to facilitate muscular repair and remodeling, and thereby enhance post-exercise strength- and hypertrophy-related adaptations. Despite the apparent biological plausibility of the strategy, however, the effectiveness of protein timing in chronic training studies has been decidedly mixed. The purpose of this paper therefore was to conduct a multi-level meta-regression of randomized controlled trials to determine whether protein timing is a viable strategy for enhancing post-exercise muscular adaptations. The strength analysis comprised 478 …

Veritas Observations Of The Microquasar Cygnus X-3, P. T. Reynolds, Et Al

Physical Sciences Publications

We report results from TeV gamma-ray observations of the microquasar Cygnus X-3. The observations were made with the Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System (VERITAS) over a time period from 2007 June 11 to 2011 November 28. VERITAS is most sensitive to gamma rays at energies between 85 GeV and 30 TeV. The effective exposure time amounts to a total of about 44 hr, with the observations covering six distinct radio/X-ray states of the object. No significant TeV gamma-ray emission was detected in any of the states, nor with all observations combined. The lack of a positive signal, especially …

The Undergrad's Dilemma: N-Person Games And Information Asymmetry In Undergraduate Course Selection, Michael A. Verlezza Dec 2013

The Undergrad's Dilemma: N-Person Games And Information Asymmetry In Undergraduate Course Selection, Michael A. Verlezza

Honors Program Theses and Projects

In 2012, the White House released its College Scorecards for institutions of higher education. In their overview, the White House states that Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA, has a six-year graduation rate of just 51.7 percent. By approaching the question of low graduation rates as a consequence of economic inefficiency, my research led me to treat undergraduate course selection as a Nash n-person game. From there, my investigation led to an analysis of information asymmetry as I attempted to identify the various internal and external information sources driving course selection. Specific attention was given to Bridgewater State’s internal system, …
