Religion, Race, & The Fourth Estate: Xenophobia In The Media Ten Years After 9/11, Roslyn Satchel Augustine, Jonathan C. Augustine
Religion, Race, & The Fourth Estate: Xenophobia In The Media Ten Years After 9/11, Roslyn Satchel Augustine, Jonathan C. Augustine
Tennessee Journal of Race, Gender, & Social Justice
September 11, 2011 marked the tenth anniversary of the most horrific attacks in the United States. In the decade after the September 11, 2001 attacks (9/11), matters of race and religion maintained an awkwardly prominent role in American culture, with the media arguably fueling perceptions. This interdisciplinary Article’s thesis is that media elites, most of which are large corporations, threaten American democracy with xenophobic influence in an age of unmediated communication. Thus, the frequent imagery of “us” versus “them” has exasperated religious tensions between Judeo-Christian faith groups and religious minorities.
In the wake of the United States Supreme Court’s decision …
Emergency Department Nurses' Suggestions For Improving End-Of-Life Care, Robert D. Wood
Emergency Department Nurses' Suggestions For Improving End-Of-Life Care, Robert D. Wood
Theses and Dissertations
Introduction: Death is not an uncommon outcome for patients who seek immediate care in an emergency department. Although death is common in the emergency department there is little literature regarding end-of-life care in the emergency department. The purpose of this research study is to determine what changes emergency nurses would suggest to improve end-of-life care for dying patients and their families in emergency departments.
Background: A national, geographically dispersed, random sample of 1000 emergency nurses were sent a questionnaire entitled, "Emergency Nurses' Perceptions of End-of-Life Care." Inclusion criteria included nurses who were members of the Emergency Nurses Association, could read …

Library Strategies For Meeting The Learning Needs Of Fine Arts Students In The 21st Century: The Experience Of New Asia College Ch'ien Mu Library Of The Chinese University Of Hong Kong, Leo F.H. Ma
Proceedings of the IATUL Conferences
Being the only university to adopt a college system in Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong has at present nine constituent colleges, one of which is New Asia College. Compared to the other colleges, New Asia College has strong emphasis on the arts and humanities in general and on the traditional Chinese culture in particular. The Ch’ien Mu Library of New Asia College houses an extensive collection of fine arts to support the academic curriculum of the Department of Fine Arts located in the same campus of the College. In terms of the library collections, facilities and services, …

Still Disconnected: Current Failures Of Statutory Approaches To Bullying Prevention In Schools , Daniel B. Weddle
Missouri Law Review
This Article will offer a brief critique of current bullying legislation and suggest changes to the legislation designed to achieve the good intentions that usually motivate such legislative efforts. It will also briefly address some of the less well-meaning legislative efforts and suggest that legislators duped by their uncharitable colleagues into passing counter-productive bullying legislation take the necessary steps to reverse the damage. Because of the brevity of this Article, I will focus primarily upon weaknesses that legislatures should address and will not discuss the strengths that can be found in a few legislative efforts to deal with bullying in …
