A Longitudinal Examination Of The Relationship Of Selected Institutional Variables To Community College Foundation Revenue, Van Patterson, Madeline Justice, Joyce A. Scott

Administrative Issues Journal

The primary purpose of this study was to examine the annual revenue received by United States public Community College Foundations from 2008-2009 in relation to selected variables associated in the literature with successful foundation performance. This study also collected longitudinal data by replicating and expanding upon a similar study conducted by Dr. Sharon McEntee Carrier a decade earlier. Linear regression analysis was used to collect descriptive statistics that described the frequencies, central tendencies, and distribution of the data. The researchers used linear regression and analysis of variances (ANOVA) to study the relationship between revenue gained in connection with private giving …

Care For The Socially Disadvantaged: The Role Of Race And Gender On The Physician-Patient Relationship And Patient Outcomes In A Safety Net Primary Care Clinic., Daniel Baughn

Theses and Dissertations

Compared to the general population, socially disadvantaged patients have higher rates of chronic illness and require more complex medical care. They also endorse higher levels of psychological distress and tend to engage in behavioral risk factors such as poor diet, physical inactivity, and smoking. These issues are particularly concerning given that this population tends to adhere less to medical recommendations, has limited access to health resources, and receives poorer treatment from providers. In an effort to address this disparity, The Affordable Care Act will expand health care access to an additional 23 million uninsured and 17 million underinsured Americans. However, …

Tibet Is One Of The Centers Of Domestication Of Cultivated Barley, Fei Dai, Eviatar Nevo, Dezhi Wu, Jordi Comadran, Meixue Zhou, Long Qiu, Zhonghua Chen, Avigdor Beiles, Guoxiong Chen, Guoping Zhang

Publications

The Near East Fertile Crescent is well recognized as a primary center of barley origin, diversity, and domestication. A large number of wild barleys have been collected from the Tibetan Plateau, which is characterized by an extreme environment. We used genome-wide diversity array technology markers to analyze the genotypic division between wild barley from the Near East and Tibet. Our results confirmed the existence of Tibetan wild barley and suggested that the split between the wild barleys in the Near East and those in Tibet occurred around 2.76 million years ago (Mya). To test the concept of polyphyletic domestication of …

William Vincent Wallace Bicentenary Festival Programme, National Concert Hall, 15 October 2012, Una Hunt Dr

Concert Programmes

Today’s festivities, celebrating the bicentenary year of William Vincent Wallace at Ireland’s National Concert Hall, represent the realization of a personal dream. For several years I have admired Wallace’s music and performed it whenever the opportunity presented itself and it has always struck me as strange that it is not better known and appreciated. Like many other Irish composers, Wallace has languished without acknowledgement – Irish audiences have certainly had few opportunities to hear his music in recent years. With the bicentenary celebrations taking place to honour the composer, I feel certain that Wallace’s time has now returned with festivities …
