Synthesis And Characterization Of Highly Porous Borazine-Linked Polymers Via Dehydrogenation/Dehydrocoupling Of Borane-Amine Adducts And Their Applications To Gas Storage, Karl Jackson Dec 2011

Synthesis And Characterization Of Highly Porous Borazine-Linked Polymers Via Dehydrogenation/Dehydrocoupling Of Borane-Amine Adducts And Their Applications To Gas Storage, Karl Jackson

Theses and Dissertations

A new class of porous polymers has been designed and successfully synthesized by thermal dehydrogenation of several polytopic arylamine-borane adducts and has been designated Borazine-Linked Polymers (BLPs). The polymers reported are constructed of linear, triangular, and tetrahedral amine building units to form 2D and 3D frameworks. The boron sites of the pores are aligned with hydrogen atoms contrasted with the recently reported halogenated BLPs which consist of pore channels aligned with bromine or chlorine atoms. One of the reported BLPs, BLP-2(H), was proven to be crystalline by PXRD, matching the experimental pattern to theoretical patterns calculated from modeled structures. BLPs …

Firesetting In Children, Donna V. Mehregany, Md

Jefferson Journal of Psychiatry

This article reviews the literature regarding the history, etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of firesetting. A critique of the literature reveals the need to generate a clearer definition of firesetting as well as more stringent criteria for diagnosing firesetting. The standard treatments for firesetting are reviewed. Linkage of childhood firesetting to future adolescent and adult crimes is also examined. Finally, avenues for future research are discussed.

Quality Selection For Dynamic Adaptive Streaming Over Http With Scalable Video Coding, Travis L. Andelin Dec 2011

Quality Selection For Dynamic Adaptive Streaming Over Http With Scalable Video Coding, Travis L. Andelin

Theses and Dissertations

Video streaming on the Internet is increasingly using Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH), in which the video is converted into various quality levels and divided into two-second segments. A client can then adjust its video quality over time by choosing to download the appropriate quality level for a given segment using standard HTTP. Scalable Video Coding (SVC) is a promising enhancement to the DASH protocol. With SVC, segments are divided into subset bitstream blocks. At playback, blocks received for a given segment are combined to additively increase the current quality. Unlike traditional DASH, which downloads segments serially, this encoding …

Materials And Methods For Reducing Inflammation By Inhibition Of The Atrial Natriuretic Peptide Receptor, Shyam S. Mohapatra, Weidong Xu, Xiaoyuan Kong, Xiaoqin Wang

USF Patents

This invention pertains to inhibitors of atrial natriuretic peptide receptor A (NPRA) function, such as small interfering RNA (siRNA), useful for reducing the inflammation associated with many human diseases, such as asthma, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection, and cancers (such as melanoma, lung cancer, and/or ovarian cancer) by interfering with NPRA gene expression or otherwise reducing NPRA function within a subject; and methods for treating a subject suffering from, or at risk of developing, an inflammatory disease, respiratory allergy (such as allergic rhinitis and asthma), viral infection, and/or cancer by administering such NPRA inhibitors to the subject.
