The Impact Of Attendance On Seventh Grade Math Achievement Scores In Three Northwest Georgia Middle Schools, Patrick Kent Mccrary
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of attendance on achievement in three northwest Georgia middle schools. The seventh grade students were divided into two groups. One group was considered non-truant, missing fifteen or less days of school, according to the county attendance protocol, and the other group was considered truant, missing 16 or more days, according to the county attendance protocol. The purpose was to determine if there was a statistically significant disparity between the non-truant and truant students on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Test scores measured by a t-test. The null hypothesis was that there would …

Selecting Glp-1 Agonists In The Management Of Type 2 Diabetes: Differential Pharmacology And Therapeutic Benefits Of Liraglutide And Exenatide., J Pinkney, T Fox, L Ranganath
Peninsula Medical School
Failure of secretion of the incretin hormone glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) plays a prominent role in type 2 diabetes, and restoration of GLP-1 action is an important therapeutic objective. Although the short duration of action of GLP-1 renders it unsuited to therapeutic use, 2 long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonists, exenatide and liraglutide, represent a significant advance in treatment. In controlled trials, both produce short-term glucose-lowering effects, with the reduction in hemoglobin A(1c) of up to 1.3%. These responses are often superior to those observed with additional oral agents. However, unlike sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, or insulin, all of which lead to significant weight gain, …
Physical And Legal Aspects Of River Rehabilitation; Middle Rio Grande, New Mexico, April Fitzner
Physical And Legal Aspects Of River Rehabilitation; Middle Rio Grande, New Mexico, April Fitzner
Water Resources Professional Project Reports
The current ecosystem of the middle Rio Grande is being looked at by scientists and environmentalists as a river that needs healing. Declining populations of native flora and fauna have forced public agencies to evaluate the ecosystem, which has led to opportunities to rehabilitate portions of the river in an attempt to create a healthier ecosystem. Through time, ecological changes have occurred along the river corridor due to social presence, structural changes on the river, climate and river morphology. A historical review is necessary to understand the riverine rehabilitation efforts that are being proposed today. The environmental degradation brought on …
Environmental Disturbance Of Oligotrophic Bacteria And Effects On Water Quality In Deep Karstic Pools, Andrea Hunter
Environmental Disturbance Of Oligotrophic Bacteria And Effects On Water Quality In Deep Karstic Pools, Andrea Hunter
Water Resources Professional Project Reports
Active intervention of humans in pristine water resource environments has caused both surface and ground waters to degrade in quality and natural purification capacity (Geldreich 1996). Groundwater is often considered to be less impacted than that of surface water due to the absence of climate changes and storm water migrations (Geldreich 1996). Shallow karstic limestone areas (less than 30 m deep) have a greater change of surface contamination since surface water runoff can rapidly percolate through areas lacking a protective bedrock layer.

Clean hydrogen production is highly desirable for future energy needs, making the understanding of molecular-level phenomena underlying photocatalytic hydrogen production both fundamentally and practically important. Water splitting on pure TiO2 is inefficient, however, adding sacrificial methanol could significantly enhance the photocatalyzed H2 production. Therefore, understanding the photochemistry of methanol on TiO2 at the molecular level could provide important insights to its photocatalytic activity. Here, we report the first clear evidence of photocatalyzed splitting of methanol on TiO2 derived from time-dependent two-photon photoemission (TD-2PPE) results in combination with scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). STM tip induced molecular manipulation …
