An Analysis Of Teacher And Student Interactions In Desegregated School Environments, Veronica Diane Roberts

This exploratory study examined whether teacher/ student interaction is affected by the integration and the ethnicity of both teachers and students in selected schools. Ten teachers, six White and four Black, from three selected school campuses volunteered to participate in the study. Each of the selected schools enrolled between six to nine hundred students with average student populations that were comprised of 60 percent White students and 40 percent Black students. Selected classrooms had a demographic composite that was representative of the total school enrollment. Using the Flanders Interaction Analysis System, verbal interaction was classified into ten major categories. The …

Thermal Conduction In Molecular Materials Using Coarse Grain Dynamics: Role Of Mass Diffusion And Quantum Corrections For Molecular Dynamics Simulations, Ya Zhou, Alejandro Strachan
PRISM: NNSA Center for Prediction of Reliability, Integrity and Survivability of Microsystems
We use a mesodynamical method, denoted dynamics with implicit degrees of freedom DID, to characterize thermal transport in a model molecular crystal below and above its melting temperature. DID represents groups of atoms molecules in this case using mesoparticles and the thermal role of the intramolecular degrees of freedom DoFs are described implicitly using their specific heat. We focus on the role of these intramolecular DoFs on thermal transport. We find that thermal conductivity is independent of intramolecular specific heat for solid samples and a linear relationship between the two quantities in liquid samples with the coefficient of proportionality being …

A measurement of the cross section for the inclusive production of isolated photons by the CDF experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider is presented. The measurement covers the pseudorapidity region |ηγ|<1.0 and the transverse energy range ETγ>30GeV and is based on 2.5fb-1 of integrated luminosity. The sample is almost a factor of 7 larger than those used for recent published results and extends the ETγ coverage by 100 GeV. The result agrees with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations within uncertainties over the range 50

Background: Although rheumatoid arthritis has been shown to have moderately strong genetic component, both linked loci identified in linkage analyses and susceptibility variants from association studies are short of adequately accounting for a comprehensive catalogue of the molecular factors underlying this complex disease. The objective of this study was to use supplementary phenotype based on cumulative hazard of rheumatoid arthritis to identify linkage evidence for new and additional rheumatoid arthritis loci in a genome-wide linkage analysis of 342 affected sibling pair families from the United Kingdom.Methods: Using proportional hazards model, we estimated cumulative hazard of rheumatoid arthritis and then used …

Metallic nitride fullerenes (MNFs) and oxometallic fullerenes (OMFs) react quickly with an array of Lewis acids. Empty-cage fullerenes are largely unreactive under conditions used in this study. The reactivity order is Sc4O2@Ih-C80 > Sc3N@C78 > Sc3N@C68 > Sc3N@D5h-C80 > Sc3N@Ih-C80. Manipulations of Lewis acids, molar ratios, and kinetic differences within the family of OMF and MNF metallofullerenes are demonstrated in a selective precipitation scheme, which can be used either alone for purifying Sc3N@Ih …
