Mobility is essential to life, human needs, and economic development. Diminishing oil reserves, a growing dependency on oil and global warming will all strongly impact on mobility. However, innovative solutions exist. To keep mobility affordable it is likely that fossil-oil-based mobility will not be substituted by just one technology. Secondand third-generation biofuels and electric vehicles are some of the best ways to be energy and CO2 efficient in a well-to-wheel view. In contrast, fuel cells do not seem to be an alternative. Much recent literature on indigenous identity politics in Latin America has emphasized the emergence of new discourses on ethnic citizenship. However, the ways in which state-sponsored efforts to validate and revitalize the Yucatec Maya language become relevant to rural Yucatecans reflect far more continuity with older local narratives about the relationship between language use and modernity. Situating contemporary engagements with multicultural language policies within a broader history of locally meaningful language practices complicates the general model of indigenous language communities that has informed many recent studies of Latin American identity politics and reframes scholarly debates that have emphasized contrasts between …

One of major problems of road management in developing countries is the lack of decision making tools for preparing road maintenance programmes. This results in poor resource allocation and poor utilisation of existing assets. Pavement management systems (PMS) have been developed around the world in order to assist with the pavement management process in a co-ordinated and systematic manner. This paper is concerned with the impact of urbanization in aquifer well-system located in the Municipal area of Arusha city, Tanzania. A system dynamic (SD) model was built under VENSIM PLE workbench from twenty-five years (1978-2003) physical and non-physical data to simulate their interactions and relations. The purpose of this paper is to present a systemic framework for implementation of TQM program in a manufacturing organisation that produces motor vehicle components in Port Elizabeth - South Africa. The approach used included conceptualisation of the systemic framework and then involvement of the stakeholders in adding scenarios to be considered in the design and implementing the framework in the real field. Myths and assumptions about creativity often lead us to believe that creativity is innate. Researchers find though, that we develop creative skills like any other ability, through opportunity, encouragement and practice. They also believe that most people fail to reach their creative potential, not because of lack of ability, but lack of opportunity. A Longitudinal Comparison Of The Growth Factors Of Slovenian Fast Growing Enterprises, Viljem Pšeničny

Economic and Business Review

The article presents the main features of Slovenia’s fastest growing companies and compares them with “gazelles” in the EU. The longitudinal survey presented connects with three other studies applying the same research method, namely studies employing the same questionnaire on growth factors that affect growing companies through to the criteria by which they were selected as growing businesses for the survey. The author notes that the growth factors which have an impact on Slovenian businesses and gazelles in the EU mostly do not show any significant differences, and that these differences also did not change significantly over a 15-year period. …
