Performance Analysis Of Live-Virtual-Constructive And Distributed Virtual Simulations: Defining Requirements In Terms Of Temporal Consistency, Douglas D. Hodson
Performance Analysis Of Live-Virtual-Constructive And Distributed Virtual Simulations: Defining Requirements In Terms Of Temporal Consistency, Douglas D. Hodson
Theses and Dissertations
This research extends the knowledge of live-virtual-constructive (LVC) and distributed virtual simulations (DVS) through a detailed analysis and characterization of their underlying computing architecture. LVCs are characterized as a set of asynchronous simulation applications each serving as both producers and consumers of shared state data. In terms of data aging characteristics, LVCs are found to be first-order linear systems. System performance is quantified via two opposing factors; the consistency of the distributed state space, and the response time or interaction quality of the autonomous simulation applications. A framework is developed that defines temporal data consistency requirements such that the objectives …

Heat And Current Propagation In Buffered Superconducting And Hyper-Conducting Wire, Jesse L. Lynn
Theses and Dissertations
This research models and analyzes the distribution of heat and current in a buffered superconducting or hyper-conducting wire that shows potential for use in different capacities in multiple Air Force systems including the Active Denial System. The thesis includes a brief background of the reaction-diffusion system of partial differential equations provided by AFRL/RZPG and development of the numerical scheme. It then explores solutions to the model. These solutions indicate some of the various heat-related failures that may be observed in such a wire. The nature of the solutions observed depends on the characteristics of the wire, operating temperature and efficiency …
Tailored Systems Architecture For Design Of Space Science And Technology Missions Using Dodaf V2.0, Nicholas J. Merski
Tailored Systems Architecture For Design Of Space Science And Technology Missions Using Dodaf V2.0, Nicholas J. Merski
Theses and Dissertations
The use of systems architecture, following a set of integrated descriptions from an architecture framework, has been well codified in Department of Defense acquisition and systems engineering. However, in the Space Science and Technology (S&T) community, this guidance and practice is not commonly adopted. This paper outlines an approach to leverage the changes made in DoD Architecture Framework 2.0 (DoDAF2.0), and the renewed emphasis on data and support to acquisition decision analysis. After decomposing the Space S&T design lifecycle into phases, design milestones and activities using process models, a set of DoDAF prescribed and Fit-for-Purpose views are constructed into a …
Electromagnetic Field Control And Optimization Using Metamaterials, Jeffrey S. Mcguirk
Electromagnetic Field Control And Optimization Using Metamaterials, Jeffrey S. Mcguirk
Theses and Dissertations
Transformation optics has shown the ability to cloak an object from incident electromagnetic radiation is possible. However, the material parameters are inhomogeneous, anisotropic, and, in some instances, singular at various locations. In order for a cloak to be practically realized, simplified parameter sets are required. However, the simplified parameters result in a degradation in the cloaking function. Constitutive parameters for simplified two-dimensional cylindrical cloaks have been developed with two material property constraints. It was initially believed satisfying these two constraints would result in the simplified cylindrical cloaks having the same wave equation as an ideal cloak. Because of this error, …
The Effects Of First-Generation Status And Race/Ethnicity On Students' Adjustment To College, Cornelia T. Splichal
The Effects Of First-Generation Status And Race/Ethnicity On Students' Adjustment To College, Cornelia T. Splichal
Open Access Dissertations
Little is known about the college adjustment of first-generation students, particularly those from various racial/ethnic groups. This study sought to describe the college adjustment of first-generation students from three different racial/ethnic backgrounds (White/non-Hispanic, Black and Hispanic) and to determine whether generational status and race/ethnicity jointly or separately affect college adjustment as measured by responses to the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (SACQ). A sample of 418 students (208 first-generation, 210 non-first-generation; 140 White, 138 Black, and 140 Hispanic) was drawn from a population of 4,718 degree-seeking, self-identified undergraduates at a research university in the Southeast. A 2 X 3 factorial …

Education is the foundation of civil society and a key condition for economic development. In Poland, there are no strong stimulators promoting high quality educational services. The basic education sector in its majority belongs to the public finance sector. Competition on the educational services market is only emerging. School rankings of different levels constitute the evidence. The imitation of competitiveness, which could stimulate education quality enhancement, could be achieved through a systematic evaluation of effectiveness. Cited in the article are worldwide examples of the application of the DEA method for efficiency analysis of education sector entities. The article presents the …
A New Method For Job Evaluation, Wiktor Adamus
A New Method For Job Evaluation, Wiktor Adamus
European Management Studies
The paper aims to develop a new method to measure and assess qualitative parameters of a job in a simple, transparent, universal and timeless way. When evaluating a given feature, factor, object or subject, we weigh various quality and quantity criteria relative to the accepted pattern or value in a given organization, society or culture. When building a system of job evaluation in the organization, seven synthetic criteria were considered: knowledge, experience, wisdom, psychological and physical effort, intellectual effort, responsibility and cooperation. Each synthetic criterion was assigned a handful of analytical criteria, which in turn were assigned a verbal, adjective …

Detailed Stratigraphy And Geochemistry Of Lower Mount Rogers Formation Metavolcanic Units Exposed On Elk Garden Ridge, Va, Meghan Marie Lindsey
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The lower Mount Rogers Formation (LMRF) is described by Rankin (1993) as a sequence of intercalated metabasalts and volcanogenic sediments with minor metarhyolite. We have chosen to examine the sequence of the LMRF units exposed along Elk Garden Ridge, a high shoulder between the summits of Whitetop Mountain and Mount Rogers in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area in SW Virginia. This sequence represents an uplifted block of LMRF units enclosed by exposures of Whitetop and Wilburn metarhyolites.
In the field, progressive lithologic changes can be observed walking up-section along Elk Garden ridge that are indicative of changes in lava …
