Wireless communication systems have evolved substantially over the last two decades. The explosive growth of the wireless communications market is expected to continue in the future, as the demand for all types of wireless services is increasing. Beside providing higher data rates, next generation wireless networks (NGWN) are expected to have advanced capabilities such as interoperability, efficient spectrum utilization along with a wide variety of applications over different domains (e.g., public safety and military, aeronautical networks, femtocells, and so on) to the mobile users while serving as many users as possible.

Health Policy and Management Faculty Publications

Adequate safeguards against health care fraud are essential to the proper functioning of any health care system. This analysis examines health care fraud in the U.S., and its findings underscore the importance to national health reform of comprehensive anti-fraud protections covering both public and private health insurance industry. This analysis, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, examines health care fraud in a national policy context.

Legislative Testimony & Comments

An expert on family law issues affecting gay and lesbian couples, parents and their children, the author provides testimony in support of deleting a provision from pending legislation that would eliminate the legal status of domestic partnerships in Washington, DC. Legal status of domestic partnerships recognizes committed familial relationships other than marriage and is important to family stability and to allocate rights and responsibilities of gay and lesbian couples.

Community Needs Assessment Of Native Americans And One Year Follow-Up Evaluation, Chung-Fan Ni, Felicia Wilkins-Turner, Valerie Ellien, Corinne Harrington, Diane E. Liebert

NERA Conference Proceedings 2009

Using participatory action research, Native American research technicians conducted screening interviews to identify tribal members with disabilities and community needs. Participants received a Resource Guide manual at the conclusion of the community needs assessment, and were encouraged to contact appropriate health care agencies for services. The results of needs assessment include the incidence of disability, major types of disabilities, limitations and needs, employment status, and consumer concerns and barriers for Native Americans with disabilities. Also one year follow-up evaluation is discussed regarding the improvement on knowledge about resources for people with disabilities
