The Fit For And Interest In A Proposed Doctoral Program In Business Administration By Retirement-Eligible Military Commanders, Anthony B. Williams Dec 2008

The Fit For And Interest In A Proposed Doctoral Program In Business Administration By Retirement-Eligible Military Commanders, Anthony B. Williams

Theses and Dissertations

From 1954 to 2003, a rapid expansion of colleges and universities offering doctoral degrees in Business Administration has occurred. This considerable growth, coupled with increasing business school faculty member retirements, have led to a national shortage of academically-qualified faculty members. This study was conducted to determine if retirement-eligible Air Force commanders would be a good fit for and interested in a proposed doctoral program in Business Administration. This proposed Doctor of Business Administration concept program was designed to enable these commanders to accept a faculty position in a school of business while completing their doctoral degree. This is accomplished through …

Napoleon In Deutschland, Jimmy Schiemann Dec 2008

Napoleon In Deutschland, Jimmy Schiemann

The Kennesaw Tower Undergraduate Foreign Language Research Journal

My paper is a detailed look at the effects of the Napoleonic Invasion of Germany and how the ideas of democracy and liberty from the French Revolution were ‘exported’ to Germany through Napoleon. In ‘Napoleon in Deutschland’ I pursued to connect the historic events during the Napoleonic Occupation in Germany and the present of German Unity. Additionally, I explored how the ideals of the French Revolution such as Democracy and Liberty were ironically brought to Germany by Napoleon and his Army. Lastly, since most of the time when Napoleon is mentioned he is associated with dictatorship and oppression, I tried …

The Kennesaw Tower Undergraduate Foreign Language Research Journal

The following essay was written in response to the events that transpired in August 2008 between the Georgian and Russian governments. After a long history of tension between the two governments concerning the two separatist provinces, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, open conflict erupted causing great pressure on international leaders to find a solution. President Nicholas Sarkozy is under particular scrutiny due to France’s possession of the European Union presidency. In the aftermath of the conflict this essay examines three main concerns in continuing to work with the two governments: energy, economy, and power politics. The dependency of Georgia and Russia …

Das Leben Johann Wolfgang Von Goethes Und Die Figur Des Todes In “Totentanz” Und “Erlkönig”: Ein Biographischer Ansatz, Timothy Walker Dec 2008

Das Leben Johann Wolfgang Von Goethes Und Die Figur Des Todes In “Totentanz” Und “Erlkönig”: Ein Biographischer Ansatz, Timothy Walker

The Kennesaw Tower Undergraduate Foreign Language Research Journal

In this paper, I examine two poems by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: “Totentanz” and “Erlkönig.” Specifically, I want to understand the figure of death, as it appears in these two poems. I also want to reconcile the poetic texts to the life of Goethe. It is evident the lives of writers are wrapped up in their work; therefore, I want to understand Goethe’s perspective on death as he portrays the figure of death in his poems. In Goethe’s poem “Totentanz,” he portrays death as a skeletal figure that has risen from the dead. Goethe, however, did not only have fear …

Cortisol Response Of Non-Suicidal Self-Injurers Versus Non-Self-Injurers Exposed To A Social Rejection Laboratory Stressor, Patrick L. Kerr Dec 2008

Cortisol Response Of Non-Suicidal Self-Injurers Versus Non-Self-Injurers Exposed To A Social Rejection Laboratory Stressor, Patrick L. Kerr

Theses and Dissertations

Non-suicidal self-injury (NSI) represents a growing area of concern in a variety of clinical settings, yet remains a poorly understood phenomenon. An influx of research on the functions of NSI over the past decade has suggested a biopsychosocial emotional regulation model of this behavior. This model proposes that self-injurers engage in NSI to reduce negative emotions, and presupposes that self-injurers are characterized by emotional dysregulation. The present study evaluated the biological component of this model by assessing hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenocortical axis (HPAA) functioning in a group of self-injurers(n=26) and non-injuring healthy controls (n=28). HPAA functioning was assessed via measuring salivary cortisol levels …

Constructing And Classifying Neighborhood Anti-Sperner Graphs, John P. Mcsorley

Articles and Preprints

For a simple graph G let NG(u) be the (open) neighborhood of vertex u ∈ V (G). Then G is neighborhood anti-Sperner (NAS) if for every u there is a v ∈ V(G)\{u} with NG(u) ⊆NG(v). And a graph H is neighborhood distinct (ND) if every neighborhood is distinct, i.e., if NH(u) ≠ NH(v) when u ≠ v, for all u and v ∈ V(H).
