Moody Blues: The Social Web, Tagging, And Nontextual Discovery Tools For Music, Susannah Cleveland, Gwen Evans

University Libraries Faculty Publications

A common thread in discussions about the Next Generation Catalog is that it should incorporate features beyond the mere textual, one-way presentation of data. At the same time, traditional textual description of music materials often prohibits effective use of the catalog by specialists and nonspecialists alike. Librarians at Bowling Green State University have developed the HueTunes project to explore already established connections between music, color, and emotion, and incorporate those connections into a nontextual discovery tool that could enhance interdisciplinary as well as specialist use of the catalog.

Considering The Reach Of Phelps, Thomas G. Field Jr.

The University of New Hampshire Law Review

[Excerpt] “As the Supreme Court recently confirmed in Quanta Computer, Inc. v. LG Electronics, Inc., patent and copyright owners have limited rights following voluntary transfers of protected goods. Moreover, as discussed at length by the Second Circuit in Platt & Munk Co. v. Republic Graphics, Inc., patent owners‟ rights have long been similarly affected by involuntary transfers. Platt & Munk finds the lack of equivalent copyright rulings remarkable, but does not allow lack of direct precedent to stand in the way of finding that involuntary transferees of copyright-protected goods have the same rights as voluntary transferees.

Social-Emotional Resilience In Middle School Girls, Stephanie Evans Powers

All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations

During middle school, many girls experience changes toward a more negative affect and decreases in confidence, optimism, and curiosity (Kline & Short, 1991; Pipher, 1994). The aim of this dissertation is to provide a contextually grounded and multidimensional understanding of social-emotional resiliency in middle school girls as constructed and defined by the students, their teachers, their social reference groups and the researcher (Ungar, 2004). To address the subjective nature of resiliency, qualitative methodology was chosen as the most appropriate approach. Five girls from a middle school in a small, Midwestern town participated in the study. Five teachers who nominated students …

The significance of the cases reported in this article represents the perpetual tension between the prosecution and defense of people accused of crimes. This tension, which creates the necessary balance between the State's interests and the accused's, makes for interesting debate by the Georgia Supreme Court justices and for important decisions that guide those attorneys who practice criminal law.

Real Property, Linda S. Finley Dec 2008

Real Property, Linda S. Finley

Mercer Law Review

The survey period proved to be an active one for cases and legislation involving real property. Particularly, the Georgia General Assembly, in apparent reaction to the housing and foreclosure crisis faced by the entire country, enacted consumer-friendly changes to the long-standing foreclosure statute. The courts were also active in review of real property issues, and as the number of cases involving real property issues continues to increase, it becomes more difficult to determine which cases should be contained in this Survey. Nevertheless, this Article discusses caselaw and legislative developments in Georgia real property law from June 1, 2007 through May …

Catch That Pepsi Spirit: Photo Update

China Beat Blog: Archive 2008-2012

When Micki McCoy and Kelly Hammond sent China Beat the interview they conducted about Hammond’s participation in an international Pepsi commercial shoot in Xinjiang, we had a tough time tracking down images or videos. Though we still haven’t seen the commercial in full (let us know if you find it online), Hammond did recently send this photo of a “Mexican Uyghur” taken during filming. If that doesn’t make any sense to you, take a look at the original interview‘s discussion of the issues of nationalism, ethnicity, and commercialism that the Pepsi shoot raised for Hammond. chapters. While conceptualizing the book, current CPS models were re-conceptualized as

well, resulting in a proposed new approach to CPS which describes each process stage as

a competency, to be called the Creative Problem Solving: Competencies Model. The

competencies are briefly described, in anticipation of future research. The model’s …
