The research reported in this paper studies the phenomenon of technostress, that is, stress experienced by end users of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), and examines its influence on their job satisfaction, commitment to the organization, and intention to stay. Drawing from the Transaction-Based Model of stress and prior research on the effects of ICTs on end users, we first conceptually build a nomological net for technostress to understand the influence of technostress on three variables relating to end users of ICTs: job satisfaction, and organizational and continuance commitment. Time series studies of environmental exposures often involve comparing daily changes in a toxicant measured at a point in space with daily changes in an aggregate measure of health. Spatial misalignment of the exposure and response variables can bias the estimation of health risk and the magnitude of this bias depends on the spatial variation of the exposure of interest. In air pollution epidemiology, there is an increasing focus on estimating the health effects of the chemical components of particulate matter. Homework has varying degrees of effectiveness; therefore, it is important for teachers to know what elements aid in making homework assignments more effective to learners. There are outside factors that contribute to homework’s effectiveness as well as types of homework assignments that will increase students’ success. Two of the factors contributing to homework’s level of benefits are student motivation and parental involvement. There are three types of homework assignments that increase the positive aspects of student motivation and parental involvement include interspersal assignments, interactive homework assignments, and project-based assignments. The ongoing credit crisis has thrown the spotlight onsovereign wealth funds (SWFs). “The size and activities of SWFs in recent years have led to heightened attention on, and suspicion about them,” commented Locknie Hsu, Singapore Management University professor who specialises in international trade and dispute settlement law. Hsu recently authored a commentary on the new set of voluntary principles, known as the ‘Santiago Principles’ or GAPP (Generally Accepted Principles and Practices), adopted and released in October 2008 to govern such funds.

Singapore’s building and construction industry accounts for about 4% of gross domestic product. Barbie Keiser, Information Resource Management Consultant, conducted a one day workshop titled “Substance beyond style: Marketing library and information services in the 21st century” in Singapore on 15 October. The workshop was organized by the Library Association of Singapore and the Singapore Management University. It was held at the Reading Room, Li Ka Shing Library, Singapore Management University. Ms. Keiser noted that she did her first marketing workshop in Singapore in 1989 and was pleased to be back twenty years later.

Public Long-Term Care Insurance And The Housing And Living Arrangements Of The Elderly: Evidence From Medicare Home Health Benefits, Gary V. Engelhardt, Nadia Greenhalgh-Stanley

We provide empirical evidence on the extent to which long-term care insurance affects the housing and living arrangements of the elderly by examining plausibly exogenous changes in the supply of long-term care insurance through the Medicare program that occurred in the late 1990s. Prior to 1997, Medicare reimbursed home health care agencies on a retrospective-cost basis. Then, starting in October, 1997, as a result of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 (BBA97), Medicare switched to a system of prospective payments for home health care, which induced state-by-calendar-year variation in the supply of this type of public long-term care insurance. Based on an experience in an MBA Human Resource Management classroom, this paper traces the process of my reflection on an icebreaker discussion of ‘‘best’’ and ‘‘worst’’ student jobs. I indicate how I developed second thoughts about the way in which I handled the discussion, concerned that making light of messy jobs might encourage the class of future managers to do the same.
