Finding Common Ground: Community Garden As Connector Between Culture, Nature, And The Individual, Valerie Dawn Warner Aug 2007

Finding Common Ground: Community Garden As Connector Between Culture, Nature, And The Individual, Valerie Dawn Warner

Landscape Architecture Masters & Design Theses - Archive

In the vacant spaces between buildings, in the corners of school yards, in open fields - wherever community gardens are deliberately placed - the space between culture and nature grows smaller. When ETHOS students went to Chinantla in the summer of 2007, DECAMP was working hard to develop a women’s program and to expand the albergue (student dormitory). The objective of the women’s program is to create confidence among the mothers and daughters of Chinantla. Social events such as volleyball games, cooking big meals, and evenings of music and dancing are …

Forum Encourages Students To Consider Careers In Physical Therapy, Office Of Public Affairs Aug 2007

Forum Encourages Students To Consider Careers In Physical Therapy, Office Of Public Affairs

Press Releases

The statistics underscore the need. In 2002 there were more than 137,000 jobs for physical therapists, but fewer than 100,000 trained personnel to fill them. As the population ages, as more trauma victims survive, and as more babies are born with disabilities, this need is expected to grow. To help get the word out about career opportunities in physical therapy, and to help recruit minority students to the field, Governors State University and Project Purposefu lRecruitment of Minority Physical Therapists (PROMPT) met this summer with more than 30 local …
