Consumer Protection Against Unauthorized Use Of Credit Cards In Malaysia: A Banking Law Perspective, K. Maruthavanar

Research Publications (2006 to 2010)

Plastic cards have invaded the monetary market as a payment instrument used to purchase goods and services. There are several types of plastic cards in the circulation namely, credit cards, debit cards, charge cards, stored value cards and smart cards. The first credit card used to eliminate the need to carry cash was the Mobil Oil, USA card issued in 1914 and the first form of charge card was the Diners card, which was used by businessmen in the 1950's to purchase meals on an expense account. Since then, a variety of cards have been introduced to customers that have …

The Effect Of Temperature On Fiber Composite Bridge Decks, Mahesh Gajula Nagabhushanam Dec 2007

The Effect Of Temperature On Fiber Composite Bridge Decks, Mahesh Gajula Nagabhushanam

Civil Engineering Theses - Archive

The use of Fiber composite honeycomb structure's as bridge decks gained importance, because of its low light weight and ease of installation. In this study, The Fiber composite bridge decks were subjected to thermal gradients. The Fiber composite bridge decks were fabricated in sizes of 2 feet x 8 feet x .5 feet and 4 feet x 8 feet x .5 feet specimens by Kansas structural composites Inc. The program consisted of 3 specimens of size 2 feet x 8 feet x .5 feet with ribs oriented along longitudinal direction, 3 specimens of size 2 feet x 8 feet x …

Deep Mixing Technology For Mitigation Of Swell-Shrink Behavior Of Expansive Soils Of Moderate To Deep Active Depths, Raja Sekhar Madhyannapu Dec 2007

Deep Mixing Technology For Mitigation Of Swell-Shrink Behavior Of Expansive Soils Of Moderate To Deep Active Depths, Raja Sekhar Madhyannapu

Civil Engineering Dissertations - Archive

Expansive soils are well known for their cyclic shrink-swell behavior due to seasonal related moisture changes. These cyclic movements of expansive soils are due to physico-chemical changes at particle level that are dependent on mineralogical composition of these soils. The subsoil depths susceptible to moisture changes are known as active zones and based on previous studies vary from shallow to deep depths. Movements from these active depths reflect to the surface and cause considerable damages to overlying infrastructures. These damages are slow and time dependent as the in situ moisture fluctuations are slow and continue with time. Since the current …

Identification Of Teacher Interpersonal Relationship Behaviors Related To High School Hispanic Student Success, Iris Torres Crews Dec 2007

Identification Of Teacher Interpersonal Relationship Behaviors Related To High School Hispanic Student Success, Iris Torres Crews

College of Graduate Studies: Theses & Dissertations

This study investigated high school Hispanic students' perceptions of their mathematics or science teachers' interpersonal relationship behaviors. The Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction (QTI) was completed by 572 high school Hispanic students in Georgia. Of these, 259 high school Hispanic students identified the teacher interpersonal relationships behaviors of their mathematics teacher and 313 students identified the behaviors of their science teacher. Ratings obtained from high school Hispanic students in a district with a large percentage of high school Hispanic students whose scores on the Georgia High School Graduation Tests (GHSGT) exceeded the reported state pass/pass plus percentage, and ratings from high …

Function-Technology-Based Product Platform Formation, Rupesh Kumar, Venkat Allada Dec 2007

Function-Technology-Based Product Platform Formation, Rupesh Kumar, Venkat Allada

Engineering Management and Systems Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

Product platforms have been effectively used by many successful companies for product family design. Technological advancements and changes in customer needs pose problems for robustly designing product platforms over a given planning horizon. to date, most product platform formation approaches are directed by structural (subassemblies and components) considerations and are seldom undertaken at the conceptual design stage. We argue that product platform design should commence at the conceptual design stage rather than the detailed design stage. It is noteworthy that physical structures are the end results of designs already frozen at higher level of functional abstraction. Hence, tackling the platform …

Time Series Prediction As A Problem Of Missing Values: Application To Estsp2007 And Nn3 Competition Benchmarks, Antti Sorjamaa, Amaury Lendasse

Engineering Management and Systems Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

In This Paper, Time Series Prediction is Considered as a Problem of Missing Values. a Method for the Determination of the Missing Time Series Values is Presented. the Method is based on Two Projection Methods: A Nonlinear One (Self-Organized Maps) and a Linear One (Empirical Orthogonal Functions). the Presented Global Methodology Combines the Advantages of Both Methods to Get Accurate Candidates for the Prediction Values. the Methods Are Applied to Two Time Series Competition Datasets. ©2007 IEEE.
