Reconceptualizing Elder Abuse: Treating The Disease Of Senior Community Exclusion, Donna Schuyler, Bryan A. Liang
Reconceptualizing Elder Abuse: Treating The Disease Of Senior Community Exclusion, Donna Schuyler, Bryan A. Liang
Annals of Health Law and Life Sciences
This article focuses on the phenomenon of elder abuse, which is one of the paramount symptoms of the larger community's failure to address the social, medical, and legal needs of the senior populace. Although there have been multidisciplinary efforts to address this problem, they are not responsive to the needs of the senior population itself. In response, the authors propose a model that takes into account the specific concerns of local senior communities and provides seniors and their stakeholder providers a stable infrastructure to ensure open, consistent, and effective participation and delivery of services.

Property Rights As A Precondition To Development: A Case Study Of Jamaica, Leah Kral
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Emerging research suggests that property rights play a significant role in the economic and social development of nations. To test this proposition, this study examines the case of Jamaica and whether there is a relationship between property rights and development. In order to carry out this investigation, this study gathers and analyzes existing research to:
1. define the extent that Jamaicans lack property rights and how this affects their everyday quality of life and vulnerability to poverty;
2. examine the relationship between the absence of property rights and underdevelopment; and
3. explore how the current international and local Jamaican policy …

Intercultural Human Rights Law Review
This article will examine whether it should be mandatory for victims of severe forms of trafficking to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in order to be eligible to receive critical victim protections. As part of this examination, this article will introduce the landmark TVPA, as amended by the TVPRA and VAWA, and in particular TNS, otherwise known as the T Visa provisions. Second, this article will analyze the practical application of the requirement, which mandates that victims of severe forms of trafficking must comply with all reasonable law enforcement requests to be eligible for a T Visa. The Cabining Of Rosenberger: Locke V. Davey And The Broad Nondiscrimination Principle That Never Was, Alan M. Trammell
Scholarly Articles
In Rosenberger (1995), the Supreme Court decided that the University of Virginia could not exclude religious organizations from an activities fund that subsidized student organizations. Nine years later, the Court in Locke v. Davey held that Washington could exclude students of devotional theology from a generally available scholarship program; there was, in the Court’s words, “play in the joints” between what the Establishment Clause forbids and what the Free Exercise Clause requires. The cases seemed to contradict one another.
This Note explores whether Rosenberger announced a broad principle of nondiscrimination with respect to religion and whether Davey reneged on that …
