Project Grow: A Plan To Grow An Edible Garden In A Poverty-Affected School To Improve Parent Involvement And Increase Student Knowledge Of Nutrition, Wendy Michelle Wickersham
All Graduate Projects
Growing an edible garden in a poverty-affected school serves multiple purposes. It provides a way to increase parent involvement at the school while increasing student knowledge of nutrition. This comprehensive plan prepares a school to implement a school garden run solely by teacher, students, parents, and community volunteers. The potential results are that parents will get involved at their child's school while the students can learn about nutrition along with their families.

Ischemic Stroke In The Vertebrobasilar System. Risk Factors, Etiology, And Localization, Fusun Mayda-Domac, Goksel Somay, Handan Misirli, Hakan Somay, Nuri Y. Erenoglu
Neurosciences
OBJECTIVE: To investigate and determine the clinical findings, lesions, risk factors, and variety of etiology in Turkish patients suffering from vertebrobasilar ischemia. METHODS: The clinical, radiological, and prognostic features of patients with ischemic stroke in the vertebrobasilar system (VBS) are not homogeneous. The mechanism, localization, and severity of the vascular lesions and the presence of coexisting vascular risk factors influence the prognosis. The study included 134 patients with ischemic strokes in the VBS that were evaluated according to age, gender, clinical findings, risk factors, lesion localization, echocardiography, Doppler sonography, and cervical magnetic resonance angiography at Haydarpasa Numune Education and Research …

Neurosciences
OBJECTIVE: To investigate different diagnosis aspects, prescribed drugs and self-medications of migraine in Iran. METHODS: We selected 210 migraineurs from high school and university students in Kerman, Iran over a period of 6 months in 2002 by multistage randomized screening based on the International Headache Society criteria. We classified them into 2 groups on the basis of whether they had consulted a physician or not. We then evaluated the physician prescriptions, and prevalence of self-medications. RESULTS: Only 49% of migraineurs consulted a physician, and only 53% were correctly diagnosed by physicians according to the International Headache Society criteria. Our study …

Nebbe's Nature Nest : A Summary Of An Animal Assisted Therapy Camp, Trisha L. Ames
Graduate Research Papers
Two graduate students conducted a small animal assisted therapy camp. The main goal for this camp was to enhance and promote the campers' socialization skills and self-esteem through the use of animal assisted therapy. Two pre and post measurement scales were used to evaluate the children's loneliness and self-concept. The campers participated in a one-week camp lasting approximately three hours a day. To meet desired lesson goals, the campers engaged in direct animal contact and specific animal assisted activities. The following is a complete description and reaction to the animal assisted therapy camp led by Trisha (Hobbiebrunken) Ames, Nicole Whisler, …

Revenue Sharing And The Salary Cap In The Nfl: Perfecting The Balance Between Nfl Socialism And Unrestrained Free-Trade, Clay Moorhead
Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment & Technology Law
This note argues that the League must reform the current revenue sharing model in order to correct the widening revenue gap between the lowest and highest revenue teams, which if not adequately addressed soon could severely impair the future popularity and success of the NFL. Part II describes the emergence of revenue sharing in the NFL; its evolution due to past challenges initiated by profit-oriented owners; and the details of the current revenue sharing system in place today. Part III establishes how the emergence of unshared "local revenue" has eroded the NFL's collective mentality, thereby causing a variety of problems …

A Study Of Juror Expectations And Demands Concerning Scientific Evidence: Does The "Csi Effect" Exist?, Hon. Donald E. Shelton, Young S. Kim, Gregg Barak
Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment & Technology Law
This article is the first empirical study of jurors designed to investigate the existence and extent of the "CSI effect." The authors conducted a survey of 1027 persons who had been called for jury duty in a Michigan state court during a nine-week period in June, July and August, 2006. This survey examined the summoned jurors' demographic information, television viewing habits, their expectations that the prosecutor would produce scientific evidence and whether they would demand scientific evidence as a condition of a guilty verdict.
This study of juror expectations and demands about scientific evidence in relationship to other types of …

Eleven subjects in 4 regions were newly employed by a corporate veterinary practice. This research is framed by theories of adult learning, workplace learning, and occupational community. The study was guided by 3 research questions about learning orientations, approaches, strategies and tactics veterinarians applied in the workplace. Question 1 asked about orientation toward learning. Question 2 aimed …
