Purpose: No studies have been identified that analyze the association between religious affiliation and college students' awareness of human papillomavirus (HPV) and its possible consequences. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between knowledge of HPV and the type of college (Christian or secular) a student attends. Methods: The study sample included 195 college students, 18 years of age or older, attending either La Sierra University, Loma Linda University, San Bernardino Valley College, or University of La Verne. OBJECTIVE: To determine the patient perceptions regarding healing during a physician-patient consultation.
DESIGN: A questionnaire-based survey.
PLACE AND DURATION OF STUDY: Family Practice Center of the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan, in June 2004.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: A questionnaire was designed that included the demographic profile of patients comprising age, gender, education and occupation as well as questions in line with the study objective. It was administered to 111 patients, visiting outpatient department of the hospital. Participants were explained the study objective, a written consent was taken and full confidentiality was assured.

BACKGROUND: Patient expectation survey at the Emergency Medical Services can improve patient satisfaction. A need was established to conduct such a survey in order to recommend its use as a quality improvement tool.
METHODS: The study was conducted on patients visiting the Emergency Medical Services, Aga Khan University, Karachi. A questionnaire was used to collect information on the demographic profile, and expectations of patients. The ethical requirements for conducting the study were met.

A procedure for the separation and preconcentration of trace amounts of copper is proposed. It is based on the adsorption of copper(II) ions solution onto a column of Amberlite XAD-2 resin loaded with disodium 1-nitroso-2-naphthol-3, 6-disulfonate (nitroso-R salt). Copper is quantitatively retained on the column in the pH range 5.5-7.8 at a flow rate of 2 mL min^{-1}. The copper complex eluted with 5 mL of dimethylformamide (DMF) and copper was measured by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) at 324.8 nm. A new series of 12 complexes of oxovanadium(IV) with hydrazones of isonicotinic acid hydrazide, namely N-isonicotinamido-3',4',5'-trimethoxybenzalaldimine (INH-TMB) and N-isonicotinamido-2'-furanaldimine (INH-FUR) with the general formula VOX_2.nL (X = Cl, Br, I, NCS, NO_3, n = 1; X = ClO_4, n = 2; L = INH-TMB or INH-FUR) were synthesized and characterized on the basis of analytical, conductance, molecular weight, magnetic moment, infrared and electronic spectral data. The infrared data of the complexes reveal the bidendate nature of both ligands and coordination to carbonyl-oxygen and azomethinic-nitrogen atoms. Giorgio Agamben’s slender but profound monograph on the state of exception is an intervention into a world that is becoming more and more exceptionalist. The events of 9/11, the War on Terror, and the successive decrees and acts authorizing fingerprinting, interrogation, and indefinite detention of suspects in terrorist activities, all testify to Agamben’s prophetic portrayal of contemporary politics in which the state of exception—normally a provisional attempt to deal with political exigencies— has become a permanent practice or paradigm of government. I assessed the influence of the Keweenaw Current and spring thermal bar on the distribution of larval fishes and large zooplankton in Lake Superior. In 1998 and 1999, samples were collected from inshore (0.2 – 3.0 km from shore) and offshore (5.0 – 9.0 km from shore) locations on three transects off the western coast of the Keweenaw Peninsula, Michigan. For larval fishes, density and size distribution patterns of lake herring (Coregonus artedi), rainbow smelt (Osmerus mordax), burbot (Lota lota), deepwater sculpin (Myoxocephalus thompsoni), and spoonhead sculpin (Cottus ricei) suggest …

Biogeochemical processes in the coastal region, including the coastal area of the Great Lakes, are of great importance due to the complex physical, chemical and biological characteristics that differ from those on either the adjoining land or open water systems. Particle-reactive radioisotopes, both naturally occurring (²¹⁰Pb, ²¹⁰Po and ⁷Be) and man-made (¹³⁷Cs), have proven to be useful tracers for these processes in many systems. However, a systematic isotope study on the northwest coast of the Keweenaw Peninsula in Lake Superior has not yet been performed.

This chapter is intended to identify options for legal permanency that state law and the federal Adoption and Safe Families Act (ASFA) commonly recognize to better serve children in foster care. Ideally, the child will ultimately return safely to his or her home of origin. But when a return home is not possible, the child welfare legal process should result in a safe and legally secure alternative permanent placement for the child. To extend the successful experience learnt from the Golden Organic Farming Programme in Tsuen Wan organized by Produce Green Foundation in 2004, a new farming programme entitled “Happy Farming” has been launched in Tuen Mun. A plot of land was leased to Good Tiding Church of Christian National’s Evangelism Commission in Lai Wai Tuen Mun (屯門泥圍佳音福音堂) by the Government.
