Analyze This: Using Taxonomies To Scaffold Students' Legal Thinking And Writing Skills, Christine Mary Venter
ExpressO
This Article describes the deficiencies in current pedagogies used in many law schools. It suggests refocussing attention on the development of students' analytical skills, and describes the use of learning theory and taxonomies to achieve that goal. The argument is made that by specifically developing students' analytical skills, students can become more effective writers and lawyers.

How Family Religious Involvement Benefits Adults, Youth, And Children And Strengthens Families, David C. Dollahite, Jennifer Y. Thatcher
How Family Religious Involvement Benefits Adults, Youth, And Children And Strengthens Families, David C. Dollahite, Jennifer Y. Thatcher
Faculty Publications
A growing body of empirical research demonstrates that a family’s religious involvement directly benefits adults, children and youth in many ways. Divorce rates are lower and marital satisfaction and quality scores highest among religiously involved couples. Religious practices are linked with family satisfaction, closer father-child relationships, and closer parent-child relationships. There is less domestic violence among more religious couples and religious parents are less likely to abuse or yell at their children. Religious involvement promotes involved and responsible fathering and is associated with more involved mothering. Greater religiosity in parents and youth is associated with a variety of protective factors …

Fighting Fraud On Faith: Federal Securities Regulation And The Limits Of Disclosure, Shannon R. Selden
ExpressO
In the past ten years, Congress passed three major reform acts to address two diametrically opposed concerns: It first restrained what it believed was an excess of securities fraud litigation, then responded to an explosion of securities fraud. This Article contends that despite the competing provocations and ambitions of the reforms, they share an unwarranted adherence to the principle of disclosure as the best means to attack market malfeasance: The Article examines the basis for and consequences of that undeserved legislative fidelity. Applying behavioral economics and cultural theory to the recent legislation and its underpinnings, the Article concludes that a …
