Collectors, Collecting, & Collections: A Symposium Sponsored By The International Quilt Study Center Feb 2005

Collectors, Collecting, & Collections: A Symposium Sponsored By The International Quilt Study Center

International Quilt Museum: Resources

Welcome… to the 2005 Biennial Symposium of the International Quilt Study Center. Like all of the IQSC undertakings, the goal of this gathering is to celebrate quilts and quiltmaking. The focus of this Symposium is “Collectors, Collecting, & Collections.” Selection of this theme made good sense, since the IQSC is built around a wonderful collection. Designing Finance Structures To Satisfy Equity And Adequacy Goals, Richard A. King, Austin D. Swanson, Scott R. Sweetland

Education Policy Analysis Archives (EPAA)

… In this exploration of school finance policy, we advance a conception of adequacy as the ideal state of vertical equity, examine the evolution of this concept through judicial reviews, and discuss methods for determining the level of funding required to achieve adequacy. We then discuss economic and political problems inherent in institutional inefficiencies that are likely to derail efforts to raise achievement in poorly performing schools even after granting them an adequate level of resources. The paper concludes with a description of how a state funding formula might provide a foundation for adequacy in all districts.

The Strength Of Association: Population Density And Social Deviance, University Of Justice Center

Series 3: Neighborhood Characteristics & Police Calls for Service (2004-2005)

This issue of Anchorage Community Indicators provides a brief examination of the relationship between population density and social deviance in the Municipality of Anchorage. A commonly held belief is that social density is positively correlated with social deviance, despite only sparse scientific evidence in support of this theory. A previous issue of Anchorage Community Indicators ("The Strength of Association: Housing Density and Delinquency," ACI 3a(1) (Jul 2004)) found no evidence of a relationship between housing density and deviance. The current issue builds on these previously reported findings by introducing a second measure of social density: population density, once again finding …
