Debye Series Analysis Of Scattering Of A Plane Wave By A Spherical Bragg Grating, James A. Lock
Debye Series Analysis Of Scattering Of A Plane Wave By A Spherical Bragg Grating, James A. Lock
Physics Faculty Publications
The Debye series decomposition of the partial-wave scattering amplitudes of a multilayer sphere is derived. The partial-wave transmission and reflection terms appearing in the Debye series are multiple-scattering amplitudes written in terms of four basic quantities and combined together layer by layer in an identical way. The resulting expressions are then used to calculate the scattered intensity of a spherical Bragg grating covering a dielectric core particle and to analyze a number of new structures appearing in the scattered intensity. Wiley Rutledge And Executive Detention: A Judicial Conscience For His Time And Ours, Craig Green
Wiley Rutledge And Executive Detention: A Judicial Conscience For His Time And Ours, Craig Green
ExpressO
Wiley Rutledge is a Justice whom biographers forgot -- until John Ferren's recent book. This Review of Ferren's work shows that Rutledge was uniquely important in WWII cases concerning executive detention. Comparing cases from that era to Rasul, Hamdi, and Hamdan, I suggest that Rutledge's legal approach (and the continuation of such efforts on today's Court) uncover two novel arguments for judicial review of military commissions. Rutledge's story also invites us to rethink how we evaluate judicial "heroes," and which judicial biographies are truly worth reading.

Does Agreeableness Help A Team Perform A Problem Solving Task?, Frederick R. B Stilson
Does Agreeableness Help A Team Perform A Problem Solving Task?, Frederick R. B Stilson
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The relationship between mean team Agreeableness and team performance has not been shown definitively. The present study was performed looking at archival data from a study that assessed team performance from 62 two person teams using the DDD and involving two types of training and two types of information probes during the computer task. In addition, each of the participants took a personality test based on the IPIP with an emphasis on Agreeableness and its 6 facets. Using HLM analysis, it was determined that Agreeableness does not have a significant effect on team performance for a problem solving tasks (delta …

An Appellate Mechanism For Review Of Arbitral Decisions In Investor - State Disputes: Prospects And Challenges, David A. Gantz
An Appellate Mechanism For Review Of Arbitral Decisions In Investor - State Disputes: Prospects And Challenges, David A. Gantz
ExpressO
Current support for such an appellate mechanism is largely derived from Congressional and NGO concerns regarding certain arbitral decisions rendered under NAFTA’s Chapter 11, where questions as to the consistency of tribunal interpretation of investment rules have been raised. Incorporation of such a mechanism or mechanisms in free trade agreements and bilateral investment treaties is effectively required by the President’s 2002 “Trade Promotion Authority.” Negotiation and drafting of an agreement establishing such a mechanism will commence shortly (three months) after the United States – Central America – Dominican Free Trade Agreement enters into force, probably January 1, 2006. The article …

Analyze This: Using Taxonomies To Scaffold Students' Legal Thinking And Writing Skills, Christine Mary Venter
ExpressO
This Article describes the deficiencies in current pedagogies used in many law schools. It suggests refocussing attention on the development of students' analytical skills, and describes the use of learning theory and taxonomies to achieve that goal. The argument is made that by specifically developing students' analytical skills, students can become more effective writers and lawyers.
