The research consortium comprised of representatives from several universities and national laboratories has successfully generated internal and external dose conversion coefficients for twenty radionuclides produced in spallation neutron sources. In addition, the group has identified twenty radionuclide that are missing electron capture files and eighteen additional radionuclides missing substantial physical data.

Fluorapatite, fluorinated calcium phosphate, has been identified as a potential matrix for the entombment of the zirconium fluoride fission product waste stream from the proposed FLEX process. If the efficacy of fluorapatite-based waste-storage can be demonstrated, then new and potentially more-efficient options for handling and separating high-level wastes, based on fluoride-salt extraction, will become feasible. Thickening of finger extensor tendons in hemiplegic hands of stroke patients has never been reported. We reported 11 patients with stroke who experienced gradual onset of a painless swelling at the dorsal aspect of the hemiplegic wrist. Soft tissue sonography revealed that the swellings were mainly composed of thickened finger extensor tendons. This thickening typically involved the tendons of the 4th dorsal extensor compartment between the proximal carpal and mid-metacarpal levels. The maximal thickness of these tendons could reach over three times that of the corresponding tendons of the contralateral hand. The synovial tissue surrounding the thickened tendon was also …

There have been isolated reports in the literature of the natural history and less than complete knowledge of the epidemiology and the pathophysiology of endocrine alteration occurring after traumatic brain injury (TBI). This article describes one primarily adrenal-dysfunction patient with severe TBI who had no evidence of present or prior adrenal autoimmune disease, infection, hemorrhage, or malignancy. It is suggested that this distinct condition can be labeled as ”primary adrenal insufficiency (PAI) developing after TBI”.

A stress fracture is defined as a partial or complete fracture of bone due to the inability to withstand non-violent stress applied in a rhythmic, repeated, subthreshold manner. It could occur in any kind of sport. However, it usually occurs in running-based sports and running or jogging. Initial diagnosis of stress fracture is difficult. Pathogenic bacteria modify the lipid A portion of their lipopolysaccharide to help evade the host innate immune response. Modification of the negatively charged phosphate groups of lipid A aids in resistance to cationic antimicrobial peptides targeting the bacterial cell surface. The lipid A of Helicobacter pylori contains a phosphoethanolamine (pEtN) unit directly linked to the 1-position of the disaccharide backbone. This is in contrast to the pEtN units found in other pathogenic Gram-negative bacteria, which are attached to the lipid A phosphate group to form a pyrophosphate linkage. We examined the effect of conformational change at the β7 I-Iike/hybrid domain interface on regulating the transition between rolling and firm adhesion by integrin α4β7. An N-glycosylation site was introduced into the I-like/hybrid domain interface to act as a wedge and to stabilize the open conformation of this interface and hence the open conformation of the α4β7 headpiece. Wild-type α4β7 mediates rolling adhesion in Ca2+ and Ca2+/Mg2+ but firm adhesion in Mg2+ and Mn2+. Stabilizing the open headpiece resulted in firm adhesion in all divalent cations. Mafia has been a port on the monsoon trade routes from the Arabia to Sofala for almost 2000 years. The Island has not changed significantly since ancient times and retains a traditional culture of fishing and subsistence agriculture. By 1991, development of tourism on the Island seemed very slow. Factors limiting the number of visitors include lack of adequate travel connections between the island and the mainland, and inadequate and poor hotel services. Cassava processing machines previously introduced in Tanzania were chippers and graters of the International Institute Of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) design. Popularization of such machmes in Tanzania required thorough participatory testing with stakeholders. When tested with farmers in Muheza and Kibaha districts average throughputs were 11-18 kg/h, 752 kg/h and 270 kg/hfor the manual chipper, engine-powered chipper and the engine-powered grater, respectively. Despite their low throughputs the manual chipper and the grater were Veo difficult to operate, and therefore demanded improvement. The natural gas transmission pipeline network in the United States is a key component of the nation's energy supply infrastructure and extends for over 280,000 miles and has an average age of over 60 years. The integrity of the pipeline is maintained by periodic inline inspections using magnetic or ultrasonic pigs. Defect characterization algorithms developed using current pigging data are hampered by the fact that single inspection techniques (either magnetic or ultrasonic) do not yield sufficient information for accurately and repeatably characterizing defects. This paper presents a framework to plan organizational incentives for aligning usage behavior with organizational objectives across various IT adoption stages. Our framework is motivated by the introduction of incentive alignment as another dimension in Information Systems design (Ba et al., 2001) and is based on technology diffusion models presented in the literature. This research is testing the capability of several forewarning system models to predict bank bankruptcy. We apply these models on Indonesian commercial bank data during the period of 1994/ 1995 - 1999/2000. Dengan mempergunakan EMERALD (Equilibrium Model with Economic Regional Analysis Dimensions) yang merupakan model CGE multi region untuk Indonesia, paper ini menganalisa beberapa simulasi alternatif pembiayaan subsidi industri Tekstil di Jawa Tengah.Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa subsidi atas industri Tekstil dengan sumber pendanaan bukan pajak akan meningkatkan daya saing industri Tekstil diatas biaya sektor tradable secara keseluruhan. Secara riil, subsidi ini akan meningkatkan PDRB Jawa Tengah sebesar 0.21%. Jika subsidi tersebut dibiayai dari pengenaan pajak atas rumah tangga, akan meningkatkan PDRB Jawa Tengah sebesar …
