Statistical Tools For Digital Image Forensics, Alin C. Popescu
Statistical Tools For Digital Image Forensics, Alin C. Popescu
Dartmouth College Ph.D Dissertations
A digitally altered image, often leaving no visual clues of having been tampered with, can be indistinguishable from an authentic image. The tampering, however, may disturb some underlying statistical properties of the image. Under this assumption, we propose five techniques that quantify and detect statistical perturbations found in different forms of tampered images: (1) re-sampled images (e.g., scaled or rotated); (2) manipulated color filter array interpolated images; (3) double JPEG compressed images; (4) images with duplicated regions; and (5) images with inconsistent noise patterns. These techniques work in the absence of any embedded watermarks or signatures. For each technique we …
The Meyer-Neldel Rule For Diodes In Forward Bias, Ralf Widenhorn, Michael Fitzgibbons, Erik Bodegom
The Meyer-Neldel Rule For Diodes In Forward Bias, Ralf Widenhorn, Michael Fitzgibbons, Erik Bodegom
Physics Faculty Publications and Presentations
We analyzed the temperature dependence of the forward current of a silicon diode. Instead of representing the data in the ordinarily used current versus voltage graph, the currents are plotted for different voltages as a function of the inverse temperature. The constant voltage curves can be fitted linearly and the extrapolations of the fits seem to merge to one common focal point. Hence, we demonstrate that a real diode follows the Meyer-Neldel rule (MNR). It is shown that the MNR is due to a shift of the current from ideal-diode to high-injection-diode behavior. We will argue that the merging of …
E-Learning In Business, Heidi Schweizer
E-Learning In Business, Heidi Schweizer
College of Education Faculty Research and Publications
e-Learning is replacing face-to-face classroom instruction in a growing number of businesses, but what is the prospect for the continued proliferation of e-learning in business? On one hand, the quality of instruction, the cost effectiveness of new technology, a supportive e-learning educational culture, an expansion of the Internet, an increase in online courses, shorter business cycles, mergers, and increasing competition encourage business use of e-learning. On the other hand, employee reticence in using learning technologies, insufficient corporate investment, lack of business-relevant university courses, narrow bandwidth, and Internet access issues are constricting the business use of these technologies.
Song Of The Outcasts: An Introduction To Flamenco [Book Review], Antoni Pizà
Song Of The Outcasts: An Introduction To Flamenco [Book Review], Antoni Pizà
Publications and Research
Robin Totton's Song of The Outcasts: An Introduction to Flamenco is actually a judicious, balanced overview of flamenco, its styles, history, and practitioners. And although its author is very passionate about his subject matter, facts and opinions are not blurred or mystified, but rather presented with clarity and concision (in only 224 pages). Totton defines himself as an "explainer by trade" (p. 12), and explain he does. The challenge, though, is to explain verbally an art form that defines itself around the notion of ineffability.
Childhood Experiences Of Appalachian Women Who Have Experienced Intimate Partner Violence During Adulthood., Amy L. Reeves
Childhood Experiences Of Appalachian Women Who Have Experienced Intimate Partner Violence During Adulthood., Amy L. Reeves
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Recent national surveys in the United States estimate one in five females will experience abuse by an intimate partner during her lifetime. Previous quantitative research linked childhood victimization to repeated victimization in adult relationships. This qualitative study explored the lived experiences of childhood in eight female victims of intimate partner violence who were born and reared in southern Appalachia. Interviews were analyzed using a descriptive-interpretative phenomenological method, as described by Van Manen. The three essential themes from childhood were identified as: living 'as if' an orphan; surviving in chaos; and, manifesting a devalued self. These themes were congruent with findings …

The Effect Of Heat Treatment On The Magnetic And Mechanical Properties Offe - Ni Alloys., I.K. Jassim
Baghdad Science Journal
The aim of this work is studying the binary system ??'??? Ni?)with two ratios (y=36,80) by using casting method for preparing the samples.Magnetic and Mechanical properties have been studidt different httrea^nttem^rature. All the alloys were found a ferromagnetic behavior and sensitive to the heat treatment. Best properties were found at the heat treatment 1100 C°.A significant different results were found above 1100C° for lower magnetic and mechanical values. This is possibly due to the change on the degree of magnetic moment orders, in which most of the moments are started to remove from coupled ferromagnetically.?
Sici_Xnxthin Films Preparation By Tea-Co2 Laser Induced Vapor-Phase Reaction And Study Of The Nature Of Chemical Bonds And Some Their Electrical And Optical Properties, Majda Ali Ameen
Baghdad Science Journal
A pulsed (TEA-0O2) laser was used to dissociate molecules of silane ethylene (C2I-14) and ammonia (NH3) gases, through collision assisted multiple photon dissociation (MPD) to deposit(SiC i_xNx) thin films, where the X-values are 0, 0.13 and 0.33, on glass substrate at T,----648 K. deposition rate of (0.416-0.833) nm/pulse and thickness of (500-1000)nm .Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR) was used to study the nature of the chemical bonds that exist in the films. Results revealed that these films contain complex networks of the atomic (Si, C, and N), other a quantity of atomic hydrogen and chemical bonds such as (Si-N, C-N, …
Extension Of High Reflectance Band Width For Far Infrared Spectral Region : (1), Haifa'a Gh. Rashid
Extension Of High Reflectance Band Width For Far Infrared Spectral Region : (1), Haifa'a Gh. Rashid
Baghdad Science Journal
Extension of bandwidth for high reflectance zone for the spectral region (8-14pm) was studied adapting the concept of contiguous and overlapping high reflectance stacks. Computations was carried out using the modified characteristic matrix theory restricted to near-normal incidence of light on dielectric , homogenous and isotropic symmetrical stack. Certain precautions must be taken in the choice of stacks to avoid deep —reflectance minima from developing within the extended high reflectance region. Results illustrate that the techniques of extending the high reflectance regions are applicable not only to mirrors , but also to short-and long-edge filter and to narrow band pass …
The Effect Of Grain Boundaries On Schottky Diode Parameters, S.Y. Taha, J.M. Majid, Y.M Hassan
The Effect Of Grain Boundaries On Schottky Diode Parameters, S.Y. Taha, J.M. Majid, Y.M Hassan
Baghdad Science Journal
The activation energy and optical band gap of different regions (p-type) polysilicon have been measured. Both microscopic studies and current-voltage characteristics of diodes prepared on different surface regions were carried out. Comparison of diodes parameters and microscopic studies indicate that the type of angles between boundaries has a significant effect on diodes parameters while the boundary lengths per unit area has less effect. The mechanism of Al-interaction with grain boundaries and their intersecting points at different temperature were also studies. The X-ray fluorescence spectrometry has been used for detection of diffused A1%.

Calculation Of Excess Molar Vol-Umes Of Some Ternary Liquid Mix-Tures At 303.15 K, Eman T. Kareem
Baghdad Science Journal
Excess molar volumes of five ternary mixtures of 2- methoxy ethanol(1) +butyl acetate(2)+benzene(3), +toluene(3), +chlorobenzene(3), +bromobenzene(3), and +nitrobenzene(3) have been measured at 303.15K. The excess molar volume exhibited positive deviation over the entire range of composition in the systems 2-methoxy ethanol(1)+ butyl acetate(2)+ benzene(3),+toluene(3) and sigmoid behavior in the case of the remaining systems. Flory's statistical theory have been extended to predict the excess molar volumes of the five ternary mixtures at 303.15 k over a wide range of composition . An excellent agreement has been found between the experimental and theoretical excess molar volumes , both in magnitude and …
