Gender Moderation Of The Relationship Between Hours In Role And Work-Family Conflict: A Test Of Competing Theories, Lucas D. Gray

Americans' roles as family members and workers have been clashing in recent history. The past fifteen years have expanded the work-family conflict (WFC) literature considerably. Gutek, Searle, and Klepa (1991) proposed and tested two views of how WFC may be affected by sex. The rational view predicts that WFC originates in the role that the person spends more time in. However, the gender role view predicts that the more time a person spends outside traditional gender roles increases conflict. Thus, the two theories make incompatible predictions regarding the relationship between time spent in a role, gender and WFC. The current …

The purpose of this study is to reveal the state of public speaking courses in Japan. The survey was conducted as a heuristic study for future Japanese Communication Education. Six out of 80 Japanese universities or colleges participated in this survey. The sample included two private universities, two private colleges which were classified as intensive language schools, one private college which was an intensive business school and one university or college that did not indicate what kind of school it was. Training functionally unstable ankles has been performed using many techniques, producing various results. There is debate as to which method is the best. No studies have been done on the effects of trampoline training on functionally unstable ankles. The purpose of this study was to determine whether dynamic (trampoline) or static (solid floor) training methods produced greater stability gains (postural control) in individuals with functionally unstable ankles. Thirty-seven university students (17 men and 20 women; age 21.6 +/- 1.9 years; mass, 78.2 +/-13.8 kg; height, 177.0 +/- 7.9 cm) with functional ankle instability volunteered to participate in this study.
