Improving Arithmetic Circuits For Solving Constraint Satisfaction And Optimization Problems, Marius C. Silaghi Oct 2004

Improving Arithmetic Circuits For Solving Constraint Satisfaction And Optimization Problems, Marius C. Silaghi

Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Faculty Publications

In the recent years we have proposed a set of secure multiparty computations for solving distributed constraint satisfaction and optimization problems, with applications to areas like distributed scheduling, configurations, team-making, and auctions. Some of the newest versions were based on an arithmetic circuit for selecting a random element out of the elements with a given value in a (secret) array. Here we show how to improve that arithmetic circuit by a factor of at least 4. The improvement is based on an optimization of the functions and on the usage of CSP solvers to exploit public constraints.

Effects Of Disability Disclosure And Acknowledgment On Ratings Of Interviewees With Visible Disabilities, Lisa Lynn Roberts Oct 2004

Effects Of Disability Disclosure And Acknowledgment On Ratings Of Interviewees With Visible Disabilities, Lisa Lynn Roberts

Dissertations

While some authors stress the benefits of disclosing one's disability prior to the interview in order to eliminate interviewer surprise, attention-related research suggests that such disclosure is likely to result in self-focused thinking by the interviewer, reducing the ability to judge performance accurately. Similarly, verbal acknowledgment of a visible disability during an interview has been predicted to reduce interviewer anxiety, yet some authors contend that acknowledgment is a violation of the rules of interviewing and adds to discomfort. The present research addressed the question: What are the effects of an applicant's pre-interview disability disclosure and disability acknowledgment during the interview? …

Fabrication Method For Adhesive Pressure Bonding Two Components Together With Closed-Loop Control, Gary B. Hughes, James P. Mcdonald, Arthur V. Schweidler, Lloyd D. Ingle Oct 2004

Fabrication Method For Adhesive Pressure Bonding Two Components Together With Closed-Loop Control, Gary B. Hughes, James P. Mcdonald, Arthur V. Schweidler, Lloyd D. Ingle

Statistics

Two components are bonded together in a bonding apparatus using a bonding medium of malleable metallic spheres and a curable adhesive. The two components are bonded by positioning the components in a facing-but-spaced-apart relation in the bonding apparatus with the spheres and the adhesive between the first component and the second component. The bonding apparatus forces the first component toward the second component with sufficient force to bond the spheres to the first component and to the second component, while monitoring at least one measured bonding reaction of the first component and the second component, and controlling the bonding apparatus …

Compact Lens Assembly For The Teleportal Augmented Reality System (Cip), Jannick Rolland, Yonggang Ha

UCF Patents

The projection lens system is designed for the head mounted projective display (HMPD) system to provide a wide field of view up to seventy degrees. The lens is optimized from a double-Gauss lens composed of two singlet lenses, one diffractive optical element (DOE) lens, one aspheric lens and a stop surface in the middle of the lens said lens has a focal length as low as approximately 23.9 mm whereby it has a field of view (FOV) of up to approximately 70 degrees and more. The lens can be combined with an additional field lens whereby the resulting lens combination …
