Online Postgraduate Course Registration And Payment System At Fsktm / See Chuan Kiat, Chuan Kiat See

Student Works (2000-2009)

An Online Postgraduate Course Registration and Payment System is developed for postgraduate students in the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM), University of Malaya (UM). It is a Web application development. The system is developed to facilitate student online course registration and payment of fees. The system overcomes the queuing problem during the course registration and fees payment. UM administrators can view, delete and update the course registration, student, and administrative record through the system. ASP (Active Server Pages) is used to develop the system. Microsoft Access 2000 is used to store the student database.

Using The Ltpp Database In A Pavement Design Course, Norbert J. Delatte Oct 2002

Using The Ltpp Database In A Pavement Design Course, Norbert J. Delatte

Civil and Environmental Engineering Faculty Publications

The Strategic Highway Research Program Long Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) database provides considerable information about a large number of pavement test sections. The information may be easily accessed using DataPave 2.0 software, available free from the Federal Highway Administration. This software provides information on approximately 3,000 sections, with several modules for data analysis and extraction. This paper describes the integration of LTPP DataPave 2.0 software into a pavement design course. The database was used at several points throughout the course, including lessons on traffic characterization, materials, reliability, performance, and design. Twelve Texas pavement case studies were used. Each student was …

“La Mère Humanité”: Femininity In The Romantic Socialism Of Pierre Leroux And The Abbé A.–L. Constant, Naomi J. Andrews Oct 2002

“La Mère Humanité”: Femininity In The Romantic Socialism Of Pierre Leroux And The Abbé A.–L. Constant, Naomi J. Andrews

History

It was during the July Monarchy in France, in the era immediately preceding the Revolution of 1848, that the ideology we call socialism became more than an abstraction held by isolated intellectuals and conspirators. A series of individuals, loose-knit associations, and more formal écoles were active during the 1830s and 1840s, developing a varied agenda of social reform, economic cooperation, or association, mystical Christianity, and women's liberation. Roughly lumped under the pejorative rubric of utopian socialism, and perhaps more accurately called romantic socialism, this movement was ultimately unsuccessful in achieving its diverse goals, but contributed significantly to the political discourse …

Speckle Observations Of Binary Stars With The Wiyn Telescope. Iii. A Partial Survey Of A, F, And G Dwarfs, Elliott P. Horch, Sarah Robinson, Zoran Ninkov, William F. Van Altena, Reed D. Meyer, Sean E. Urban, Brian D. Mason Oct 2002

Speckle Observations Of Binary Stars With The Wiyn Telescope. Iii. A Partial Survey Of A, F, And G Dwarfs, Elliott P. Horch, Sarah Robinson, Zoran Ninkov, William F. Van Altena, Reed D. Meyer, Sean E. Urban, Brian D. Mason

Articles

Two hundred thirty nearby main-sequence stars with spectral types in the range of A to G have been observed by way of speckle interferometry using the WIYN 3.5 m telescope at Kitt Peak, Arizona. The stars had no previous mention of duplicity in the literature. Of those observed, 14 showed clear evidence of a companion, and 63 were classified as suspected nonsingle based on a power spectrum analysis. The remaining stars discussed show no evidence of duplicity to the limit of the detection system in high-quality observations.

On The Choice Of Optimal Temporal Control In Renewable Resource Management, Amitrajeet A. Batabyal, Hamid Beladi Oct 2002

On The Choice Of Optimal Temporal Control In Renewable Resource Management, Amitrajeet A. Batabyal, Hamid Beladi

Articles

This paper addresses the following hitherto unstudied question in renewable resource management: How should a resource manager set the temporal control optimally for renewable resources such as rangelands and fisheries that are managed with spatial and temporal controls? We use a dynamic and stochastic framework to first derive the resource manager’s long run average net cost function. We then demonstrate how the temporal control can be chosen to minimize this objective function.

Urbanisms With Japanese Culture And Its Living Style, Madoka Yuasa Oct 2002

Urbanisms With Japanese Culture And Its Living Style, Madoka Yuasa

Architecture Senior Theses

"The current urban Japanese houses have lost its richness closely related to its nature, landscapes, and seasonal events which their traditional architectural spaces had an important role as a part of their lives. This situation is due to rapid economic grows they followed in the process of modernization after the WWII, and the urban situation with respect to architecture in their city is complex. In this project, I would like to propose a housing system that has their traditional design aspects to incorporate five senses with nature and also complex contemporary urban situation to enhance their livings."

Negotiating And Analyzing Electronic License Agreements, Duncan E. Alford Oct 2002

Negotiating And Analyzing Electronic License Agreements, Duncan E. Alford

Faculty Publications

Mr Alford analyzes license agreements for electronic resources and suggests certain negotiation points to consider when entering into such an agreement. He begins by describing the results of a survey of law librarians about their preparation for and techniques used when negotiating electronic license agreements and the legal strategies used by publishers to support the licensing of electronic information. After reviewing selected principles of licensing issued by library associations and several standardized electronic license agreements, he identifies provisions in a typical agreement that should concern libraries and suggests certain arguments to use in negotiating terms more favorable to the library.

Compounds Encoding The Protective M-Like Protein Of Streptococcus Equi And Assays Therefor, John F. Timoney, Sergey Artiushin

Veterinary Science Faculty Patents

The present invention relates generally to molecular compounds which encode the protective M-like protein of Streptococcus equi (SeM), the amino acid compound which is thereby encoded, and compositions of matter which incorporate either the encoding compounds or the cellular components for which they encode. For instance, vaccines which utilize the amino acid compounds or vectors and cell lines useful to make the amino acid compounds described herein are subjects of the present invention. The present invention provides methods to stimulate S. equi-specific immune response in horses. It also provides diagnostic assays for Streptococcus equi.
