Pembaharuan Dalam Undang-Undang Islam : Kajian Terhadap Status Hakim Wanita Di Indonesia, Mahmud Zaki Fuad Jan 2002

Pembaharuan Dalam Undang-Undang Islam : Kajian Terhadap Status Hakim Wanita Di Indonesia, Mahmud Zaki Fuad

Student Works (2000-2009)

The Indonesian principal of constitution which comprise of various communities including religious pluralism are based towards majority importance without affecting cosmopolitan principals and egalitarianism towards other communities. This political social culture mechanism will surely benefit the Muslims as allocated law and recognised the existence of Islamic Religious Justice and Islamic Law Compilation procedure as a reference for judges in addressing issues pertaining to marriage, heir, hibah, intaq and sadaqah, not including hudud and qisas or other cases under the jurisdiction of the civil court. Problem is, the said act did not address the gender classification pertaining to the appointment of …

Differences Of Opinion And The Cross Section Of Stock Returns, Karl B. Diether, Christopher J. Malloy, Anna Scherbina Jan 2002

Differences Of Opinion And The Cross Section Of Stock Returns, Karl B. Diether, Christopher J. Malloy, Anna Scherbina

Faculty Publications

We provide evidence that stocks with higher dispersion in analysts' earnings forecasts earn lower future returns than otherwise similar stocks. This effect is most pronounced in small stocks and stocks that have performed poorly over the past year. Interpreting dispersion in analysts' forecasts as a proxy for differences in opinion about a stock, we show that this evidence is consistent with the hypothesis that prices will reflect the optimistic view whenever investors with the lowest valuations do not trade. By contrast, our evidence is inconsistent with a view that dispersion in analysts' forecasts proxies for risk.

Surcharge And Standing: Bankruptcy Code Section 506(C) After Hartford Underwriters, David G. Carlson Jan 2002

Surcharge And Standing: Bankruptcy Code Section 506(C) After Hartford Underwriters, David G. Carlson

Articles

The Supreme Court's decision in Hartford Underwriters Insurance Co. v. Union Planters Bank, N.A., which limited standing under 11 U.S.C. § 506(c) to bankruptcy trustees, fails to conclusively resolve the issue of who can bring such claims. The ruling creates legal complexities, as it does not fully address ownership of the proceeds or provide clear guidance, leading to potential workarounds by secured creditors and trustees. The article argues that the decision may be circumvented, and the current framework for handling § 506(c) claims remains unsatisfactory, necessitating further legislative or judicial clarification.

Patterns In Glass : The Interpretation Of European Glass Trade Beads From Two Protohistoric Sites In The Greater Lower Columbia Region, Gretchen Anne Kaehler Jan 2002

Patterns In Glass : The Interpretation Of European Glass Trade Beads From Two Protohistoric Sites In The Greater Lower Columbia Region, Gretchen Anne Kaehler

Dissertations and Theses

The issue of social status as it manifests in the archaeological record has long been a problematic one. Glass beads are often the most numerous class of historic artifacts recovered in protohistoric sites in the Pacific Northwest. Ethnohistoric accounts indicated that these beads might have functioned as prestige items and as a form of "primitive cash" among the aboriginal peoples of the Lower Columbia River in the early to mid 1800s. To what extent were glass beads indicative of status and can their spatial distribution within protohistoric sites be used to address this question?

The purpose of the present study …

Efficient Algorithms For Creation Of Linearly-Independent Decision Diagrams And Their Mapping To Regular Layouts, Marek Perkowski, Bogdan Jaroslaw Falkowski, Malgorzata Chrzanowska-Jeske, Rolf Dreschler Jan 2002

Efficient Algorithms For Creation Of Linearly-Independent Decision Diagrams And Their Mapping To Regular Layouts, Marek Perkowski, Bogdan Jaroslaw Falkowski, Malgorzata Chrzanowska-Jeske, Rolf Dreschler

Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications and Presentations

A new kind of a decision diagrams are presented: its nodes correspond to all types of nonsingular expansions for groups of input variables, in particular pairs. The diagrams are called the Linearly Independent (LI) Decision Diagrams (LI DDs). There are 840 nonsigular expansions for a pair of variables, thus 840 different types of nodes in the tree. Therefore, the number of nodes in such (exact) diagrams is usually much smaller than the number of nodes in the well-known Kronecker diagrams (which have only single-variable Shannon, Positive Davio, and Negative Davio expansions in nodes). It is usually much smaller than 1/3 …

Generalized Inclusive Forms — New Canonical Reed-Muller Forms Including Minimum Esops, Marek Perkowski, Alan Mishchenko, Malgorzata Chzanowka-Jeske

Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications and Presentations

Reed-Muller (AND/EXOR) expansions play an important role in logic synthesis and circuit design by producing economical and highly-testable implementations of Boolean functions [3–6]. The range of Reed-Muller expansions include canonical forms, i.e. expansions that create unique representations of a Boolean function. Several large families of canonical forms: fixed polarity Reed-Muller forms (FPRMs), generalized Reed-Muller forms (GRMs), Kronecker forms (KROs), and pseudo- Kronecker forms (PKROs), referred to as the Green/Sasao hierarchy, have been described [7–9]. (See Fig. 1 for a settheoretic relationship between these families.)

Long-Term Outcomes Of Acute Myeloid Leukemia In Adults In Pakistan, G. N. Kakepoto, S. N. Adil, Mohammad Khurshid, I. A. Bumey, S. Zaki

Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Objective: To describe the long-term outcomes of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and to study clinicopathological features at presentation, morphological subtypesand remission rates.
Methods: Demographic information, response to therapy and survival of patients (>14 years of age) admitted between January 1988 to August 1996 with acute myeloid leukaemia was retrieved and analysed.
Results: Seventy-four patients were admitted with a diagnosis of AML during the study period. There were 43 males and 31 females. Age ranged between 15 and 70 years with a mean age of 38 years. The most common presenting feature was fever (67.5%) and the …
