The degree to which actual practice conforms to research-based best practice in early childhood specialEducation, in the state of Indiana, was the primary focus of this study. The relationship between best practice and actual practice in different types of inclusive early childhood settings and in different geographical locations, as well as the association between practice and teacherEducation level were also examined. Participants were directors and lead teachers from inclusive early childhood programs in school districts throughout the state of Indiana. In Thought, Word, And Deed: Suicidal Behaviors Of Adjudicated Youth, Kevin Corcoran, Thomas Crofoot Graham

This study examines suicide ideation, plans, and attempts by youth in two juvenile justice settings: incarcerated youth (n=83) and youth with community service sentences (n=144). The incarcerated sample reported 51% suicide ideation while the community sample reported 22%. For both samples, suicide contemplators were quite likely (60-70%) to have a suicide plan, while about 35% reported a suicide attempt in the past 12 months. Contemplators were distinguishable from noncontemplators on scores for external problems of delinquency and aggression, internal problems of anxiety, depression, withdrawal and somatic complaints, general depression, and general health status. The associate of applied science degree program in child development at Southwest Missouri State University-West Plains contains a management of early childhood programs course. The course is listed in the catalog and is required for successful completion of degree requirements. The problem was that the course had never been taught, did not have a course syllabus, and needed careful curriculum consideration prior to implementation.
