Yated V. Ministry Of Education, Dalia Dorner, Edmond E. Levy, Theodor Or

Translated Opinions

Facts: The Special Education Law, 1998, provides that the State must provide special education, as per the definition of that term in the statute. Petitioners are the parents of children with special needs who are integrated into the regular educational system. They claim that that State does not provide financial aid to aid them with the expense of educating their children. Petitioners assert that this infringes their children’s fundamental rights, discriminates against them, and violates the provisions of the Special Education law.

Held: The Court held that the right to education is a fundamental right. This right is recognized by …

Identity Theory, Stephan Desrochers, Jeanine K. Andreassi, Cynthia A. Thompson Aug 2002

Identity Theory, Stephan Desrochers, Jeanine K. Andreassi, Cynthia A. Thompson

WCBT Faculty Publications

Basic Concepts & Definitions:

Identity theory is a microsociological theory, which links self attitudes, or identities, to the role relationships and role-related behavior of individuals. Identity theorists argue that the self consists of a collection of identities, each of which is based on occupying a particular role (Stryker, 1968; Stryker & Burke, 2000). Identities can be defined as one's answers to the question 'Who am I?" (Stryker & Serpe, 1982). Many of the "answers" (e.g., "I am a father") are linked to the roles we occupy, so they are often referred to as "role identities" or simply, "identities." For example, …

Head-Mounted Display With Eye Tracking Capability, Jannick Rolland, Laurent Vaissie Aug 2002

Head-Mounted Display With Eye Tracking Capability, Jannick Rolland, Laurent Vaissie

UCF Patents

The eye-tracking system is based on the reflection of four light emitting diodes (LED)s at the cornea of users eve. The LEDs emit infrared light at 900 nanometers and the virtual images formed behind the cornea as well as a near infrared image of the pupil are displayed on a charged couple device (CCD) sensor. The optical system used to display virtual environments is also used to conjugate the virtual images of the LEDs to the CCD sensor. This optimizes the integration of eyetracking system into the head mounted device (HMD). The four LEDs are laid out around the imaging …

Theses and Dissertations

This is a state-level analysis of the impact of state building on woman suffrage legislation in the United States. This study examines all states in which state legislatures were conferred the power to submit a constitutional amendment to the electorate for approval. I use a sequential random-effects logistic regression model to estimate the effects of state building on legislative outcome. Legislative outcome is measured in three stages: whether or not a bill is introduced in either the House or the Senate during a legislative session, whether or not a bill is voted on in either the House or the Senate …
