Adaptation Of The Team Problem Solving Assessment Tool For Teambuilding Applications, Timothy R. Borton, David L. Groves Jan 2002

Adaptation Of The Team Problem Solving Assessment Tool For Teambuilding Applications, Timothy R. Borton, David L. Groves

Visions in Leisure and Business

Team building is popular with business, organizations and universities because of its ability to improve performance through group's processes. Even though teambuilding is commonly used by businesses, there are few tools that measure the effectiveness of teambuilding quantity. One author suggests that there is a large amount of anecdotal evidence that teambuilding is effective, but quantity measures of teambuilding related to the outcomes it produces exists. The purpose of this project was to adapt the Team Problem Solving Assessment Tool (TPSAT) by Armando J. Rotondi for teambuilding events. A Delphi approach was used with content experts to modify the instrument.

Summarizing Concepts About Teacher Education, Learning And Neuroscience, Terry Armstrong, Teresa J. Kennedy, Porter Coggins

Northwest Journal of Teacher Education

Despite on-going reform. teacher education today is virtually unchanged from models used in the 1920s. The achievements of the past century however have been remarkable in every way. Neuroscience records and the human genome project hold the prospect of truly expanded conceptualizations for teacher educators. This article summarizes concepts relating to the human cerebrum that speak to individual uniqueness derived from neuroscience research of the past several decades. Five areas of investigation are noted that could provide the theoretical underpinning for teacher education collaboration with neuroscientists. Neuroscience theorists are identified in anticipation that their work may provide insights to teacher …

Grandparent Care In The Latino/Hispanic Population, Jan Mutchler, Seungah Lee, Lindsey A. Baker

Gerontology Institute Publications

The purpose of this report is to provide information on Latino grandparent caregivers in the United States. Many grandparents are responsible for grandchildren who live with them in the same household. The 1996 Welfare Reform Act mandates that statistics be collected on grandparents who serve as caregivers to a grandchild. In response to this requirement, questions were developed for the 2000 Census of Population asking each adult about care for grandchildren living in the same household. We use the census information to identify grandparents who are caring for grandchildren in two different types of households: skipped-generation households, in which a …

Biodiversity Hotspots : Threats And Conservation Efforts, Edyta Dowksza

USF St. Petersburg campus Honors Program Theses (Undergraduate)

Biodiversity is a fairly new word. It is a combination of the words: biological and diversity. "The contracted form 'biodiversity' was apparently coined by Walter G. Rosen in 1985 for the first planning meeting of the 'National Forum on Biodiversity' held in Washington DC in September 1986, the proceedings of which brought the notion of biodiversity to the attention of a wide field of scientists and others (Heywood, 1995).

Noise Control And Speech Intelligibility Improvement Of A Toll Plaza, Luc Mongeau, Robert J. Bernhard, Jeffery P. Feist Jan 2002

Noise Control And Speech Intelligibility Improvement Of A Toll Plaza, Luc Mongeau, Robert J. Bernhard, Jeffery P. Feist

JTRP Technical Reports

Vehicular toll roads are one component of many municipal transportation systems. Open communication windows, often used in tollbooths, facilitate essential communication and monetary transactions. However, the vehicle noise generated outside the booth is easily transmitted into the booth via the open window. Personnel working at toll collection plazas are exposed to extended, continuous traffic noise. Sustained noise levels of this nature may cause hearing loss, induce fatigue or stress, and reduce worker productivity. The annoyance and discomfort related to continuous noise exposure may create an unpleasant working condition and may affect the hospitality of the tollbooth operators and their attitude …

The study examined the reliability and validity of the Beliefs About Voices Questionnaire-Revised (BAVQ-R) in a sample of psychotic outpatients experiencing refractory auditory hallucinations. The present study consisted of 91 subjects; 57 men and 34 women selected from four separate community outpatient settings, who experienced …

Becoming Visible : A Qualitative Analysis Of Female To Male Transsexuals' Coming Out Experiences, Emily R. Chernicoff

PCOM Psychology Dissertations

This research explores the coming-out processes of 11 transgendered individuals who underwent female-to-male sex reassignment. Its purpose is to expand upon the cultural literacy of clinicians called upon to support transgendered clients who present with the intent to transition. The thesis is predicated on the argument that the differently-gendered constitute an understudied and discrete cultural minority, similar to ethnic, racial and sexual minorities, for whom identity formation is similarly impacted by socio-cultural influences. Qualitative content analysis of transcribed semi-structured interviews was conducted. Phase analysis was found to parallel both Cass's 1979 stage-model theory of sexual minority identity formation, and Devor's …

Concurrent Deficits In Behavior Inhibition, Non-Verbal Working Memory And Psychological Sense Of Time In Adhd, Roya D. Mccloskey

PCOM Psychology Dissertations

According to the Hybrid Model of Executive Function for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), hyperactive and combined types, a delay in behavior inhibition causes secondary deficits in four executive function; non-verbal working memory, verbal working memory, reconstitution and self-regulation of affect/motivation/arousal. This single case study investigated concurrent deficits in behavior inhibition, non-verbal working memory and psychological sense of time in a 1O-year-old male with ADHD, combined type. Three interrelated components of behavior inhibition were measured by the …
