Khys-Nano: Deterministic Topological Rectification And Aperiodic Folding Of Pathological Macromolecules Via The Macena Invariant, Donevin Frownfelter

Defensive Publications Series

Background: Current computational models in structural biology and therapeutic target discovery rely heavily on probabilistic heuristics and 60Hz grid alignment. This high-entropy approach creates severe semantic turbulence when attempting to drug intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) or stabilize neurodegenerative aggregates. We propose a departure from probabilistic simulation in favor of Topological Certainty.

Methodology: We introduce KHYS-NANO, a structural dataset and deterministic folding framework built upon the AB-01 Universal Braid Syntax. KHYS-NANO abandons traditional variables and neural-network "guessing," mapping complex amino acid sequences directly into high-dimensional Grassmann manifolds. Utilizing the Macena Invariant and Floquet Engineering, the framework drives protein folding via a …

Ghost Developer Protocol (Gdp): A Persistent Intent Architecture For Self-Evolving Software Systems, Johny Manuel-Devadoss, Deepthi Prasad May 2026

Ghost Developer Protocol (Gdp): A Persistent Intent Architecture For Self-Evolving Software Systems, Johny Manuel-Devadoss, Deepthi Prasad

Defensive Publications Series

Modern AI coding systems are predominantly reactive, prompt-conditioned, session-bound, and human-supervised. They generate outputs in response to explicit requests but do not persistently evolve software systems over time without user initiation. This paper introduces the Ghost Developer Protocol (GDP), a conceptual and architectural framework in which software repositories contain persistent autonomous engineering entities that continuously observe, simulate, and modify systems without external prompts. These entities, referred to as Ghost Developers, form a continuous intent layer embedded within the repository, enabling long-horizon architectural evolution, predictive refactoring, and autonomous system governance. The repository transitions from a passive artifact into an active computational …

Space For Life Below, Anthony J. Iadevaio May 2026

Space For Life Below, Anthony J. Iadevaio

Bachelor of Architecture Theses - 5th Year

Architecture is traditionally understood as the design of spaces for people. Buildings, cities, and landscapes are typically evaluated through how humans move through them, occupy them, and experience them. My thesis begins by asking a simple shift in perspective: what happens when architecture is designed not for humans, but for other living beings, specifically aquatic life?

My research focuses on understanding how spatial design principles can be used to create better environments for fish and aquatic ecosystems. Rather than treating aquariums as decorative objects or displays for human enjoyment, I approach them as lived-in spaces where fish are the primary …

Designing Through Perception: Testing Spatial Regulation Using Virtual Reality, Denisse Rosa May 2026

Designing Through Perception: Testing Spatial Regulation Using Virtual Reality, Denisse Rosa

Bachelor of Architecture Theses - 5th Year

College students across the United States are experiencing high levels of stress, sensory fatigue, and burnout, yet most academic environments are not designed to support mental well-being. Research in biophilic design and environmental psychology shows that warm materials, natural light, and intentionally organized sensory zones can reduce academic stress and create conditions for calm and focus. This thesis explores how neuro-inclusive and biophilic design principles can reshape learning spaces into environments that actively support student wellness. The framework development and virtual reality testing documented here represent the completed phase of this research; formal data collection with human participants constitutes the …

One Man's Trash: Spent Fuel Recycling As A Path Forward For The U.S. Nuclear Energy Industry, Wilson Barlow May 2026

One Man's Trash: Spent Fuel Recycling As A Path Forward For The U.S. Nuclear Energy Industry, Wilson Barlow

Fordham Environmental Law Review

The U.S. nuclear energy industry currently operates using an open fuel cycle in which uranium is mined for fuel, used in reactors once, and then disposed of. The alternative is a closed fuel cycle where spent nuclear fuel from reactors is reprocessed and reused. As the modern-day nuclear industry seeks to expand, the shortcomings of the closed fuel cycle are becoming apparent and may stifle further growth. This Note explores a series of historical events and policy choices dating back to the early days of the country’s nuclear industry to explain why the United States currently has an open fuel …

Paying For Climate Resilience: A Tax Incentive For Climate Adaptation In New Jersey, Kaeli Brennan May 2026

Paying For Climate Resilience: A Tax Incentive For Climate Adaptation In New Jersey, Kaeli Brennan

Fordham Environmental Law Review

Climate change poses a significant threat to the health and safety of New Jersey’s coastal communities. Scientists predict rising sea levels and intensifying storms will bring increased flooding, erosion, and other climate-driven coastal hazards. In January 2026, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (“NJDEP”) adopted the Resilient Environments and Landscapes (“REAL”) rule amendments. While the REAL rules made New Jersey the first state to adopt forward-looking climate-adaptation land-use regulations, New Jersey’s economic and environmental interests conflict. The REAL rules lack sufficient funding to support compliance without deterring development. Further, the high costs associated with sustainable development risk that developers …

Maroonage: A Framework For Environmental Justice And Racial Freedom, Ryan Whyte May 2026

Maroonage: A Framework For Environmental Justice And Racial Freedom, Ryan Whyte

Fordham Environmental Law Review

Environmental hazards cause significant harm across society, with certain communities bearing the brunt of these burdens. In response, environmental advocates formed the environmental justice movement to promote equal environmental treatment for all. Closely related to this concept of environmental justice is environmental racism, which focuses on how people of color are disproportionately affected by environmental risks. While efforts to address environmental justice and racism have led to some successes, they have not fully addressed the persistent challenges affecting communities of color.

This Note seeks to apply a maroonage framework to address environmental racism and achieve environmental and racial justice for …

Dissociation Between Physical Reasoning And Tool Use In Individuals With Left Hemisphere Brain Damage, Shuchen Liu, Seda Karakose-Akbiyik, Alfonso Caramazza, Filipa Dourado Sotero, Laurel J. Buxbaum, Aaron L. Wong May 2026

Dissociation Between Physical Reasoning And Tool Use In Individuals With Left Hemisphere Brain Damage, Shuchen Liu, Seda Karakose-Akbiyik, Alfonso Caramazza, Filipa Dourado Sotero, Laurel J. Buxbaum, Aaron L. Wong

Moss-Magee Rehabilitation Papers

Tool use and physical reasoning are often assumed to rely on shared cognitive and neural mechanisms. At some level, this correspondence is expected: using an object typically requires understanding its physical properties. However, both capacities are complex and multicomponential, so the relationship between them may vary across levels of representation and task demands. Here, we asked whether third-person physical reasoning about object dynamics can dissociate from tool use (i.e., performing a tool's typical action) in individuals with left-hemisphere stroke. We tested 11 patients, five of whom showed impairments in tool use. Physical reasoning was assessed using a novel collection of …

Apoe Ε2 Potential Protection Against Long-Term Consequences Of Traumatic Brain Injury, Rebecca Faith Mesidort May 2026

Apoe Ε2 Potential Protection Against Long-Term Consequences Of Traumatic Brain Injury, Rebecca Faith Mesidort

Graduate Student Dissertations, Theses, Capstones, and Portfolios

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can alter the quality of life, often resulting in cognitive decline, neurodegeneration, or death. There have been no biological advances to resolve the long-term consequences of TBI. The APOE ε2 gene is well known as a neuroprotectant against neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. However, the biological mechanisms of how APOE ε2 protects against neurodegeneration are unknown. The purpose of this study is to investigate APOE ε2’s response to an environmental stimulus that leads to neurodegeneration, TBI, and further investigate APOE ε2’s biological mechanisms. After inflicting blunt force trauma to our model organism, …

Economic Survival And Chosen Kinship: Analyzing Intersectionality’S Role In Reframing Trans Representation In Tangerine, Lydia Britton '27 May 2026

Economic Survival And Chosen Kinship: Analyzing Intersectionality’S Role In Reframing Trans Representation In Tangerine, Lydia Britton '27

Student Research

Transgender representation in mainstream media has grown in recent years. However, these portrayals are often hegemonic, clinging to a traditional worldview. Depictions of trans characters prioritize Whiteness, higher socioeconomic status, and transitions that adhere to the binary. Additionally, transgender characters often have access to gender-affirming care and are supported by their families throughout their transition (Mocarski et al., 2019). Research on the media representations of transgender and gender diverse (TGD) individuals points out how these portrayals reinforce ideals surrounding transnormativity, or the idea that trans people’s identities and experiences must be applied to the dominant binary and medicalized framework (Bradford …

Fifty Years And Counting: Middle School Principals’ Experiences, Beliefs, And Preparation For Serving Students Of Color With Disabilities, Lourdes Rodriguez Flores May 2026

Fifty Years And Counting: Middle School Principals’ Experiences, Beliefs, And Preparation For Serving Students Of Color With Disabilities, Lourdes Rodriguez Flores

LMU Theses and Dissertations

This study explored how middle school principals understand and support students of color with disabilities (SOCWD) on comprehensive school campuses. This topic is deeply personal and professional, shaped by my experiences as a mother, special education teacher, and district leader who has witnessed ongoing challenges in how schools serve students with disabilities, especially Black and Brown students. Guided by Disability Critical Race Theory (DisCrit; Annamma et al., 2013) and Social Justice Leadership (Theoharis, 2007), this study examined how race and disability intersect in school systems and influence leadership decisions, practices, and access to opportunity. Using a qualitative approach, I conducted …

Placemaking On Peachtree: Breathing Life In To Downtown Atlanta’S Outdoor Environment Through Wellbeing-Centric Design, Rachel Pickert May 2026

Placemaking On Peachtree: Breathing Life In To Downtown Atlanta’S Outdoor Environment Through Wellbeing-Centric Design, Rachel Pickert

Bachelor of Architecture Theses - 5th Year

Why do outdoor public spaces in Atlanta not prioritize pedestrian well-being by providing comfort, safety, and service to their daily life? The built environment is a key determinant of overall well-being through the opportunity for social interaction, stimulation, safety, comfort, and a sense of belonging. The vehicular-centric design of Downtown Atlanta has resulted in pedestrians seeking comfort away from the ground level using viaducts, subterrain transit, and sky bridges. This historic removal of pedestrians from the streets of Atlanta has resulted in un-activated outdoor public spaces which do not fulfill the basic needs for pedestrian wellbeing. This thesis uses existing …

Learning To Get Out Of The Wing - The Motivations Of Learners Incarcerated In Québec Provincial Prisons, Frédérick Armstrong May 2026

Learning To Get Out Of The Wing - The Motivations Of Learners Incarcerated In Québec Provincial Prisons, Frédérick Armstrong

Journal of Prison Education Research

41 men and women incarcerated in the Québec provincial prison system were asked why they enrolled in educational activities. Relying on self-determination theory’s to describe and categorize their motivations, we found that most respondents had extrinsic motivations to participate in educational activities and that only three respondents could be described as intrinsically motivated. Respondents joined programmes to escape boredom, to receive financial compensation or to receive some other benefits; not for the pleasure of learning. These results are different from other research reporting that a majority of incarcerated learners were intrinsically motivated. After addressing this contrast and arguing that it …
