The Improvement Of Water And Water-Dependent Resources Under The Great Lakes Charter Annex, Sandi Zellmer, David Gecas, Kori Anne Mann
Nebraska College of Law: Faculty Publications
The Governors of 8 states and Premiers of 2 Canadian provinces signed a supplementary agreement to the Great Lakes Charter on June 18, 2001. This agreement, known as the Annex or Annex 2001, established principles for a new decision making framework for reviewing proposed withdrawals of Great Lakes water. Annex 2001 is the first step toward a set of binding water management agreements to be negotiated by June 2004. Directive 3 of the Annex provides that proposals to withdraw water will not be approved unless they will produce "an improvement to the waters and water dependent natural resources of the …

FOCUS on Boise State
Boise State observes its 70th anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion, the staff of FOCUS has selected 70 alumni of note to illustrate the depth and breadth of the achievements of those who have attended what began as Boise Junior College in 1932. From Nat Adams to Christian Zimmerman n (both of whom were decorated for heroism), our list contains physicians and filmmakers, educators and executives, athletes and authors, soldiers and scientists along with many others - all of them outstanding in their own way. An Economic Analysis Of The Arsenic Standard On Nevada, Jill S. Dale
An Economic Analysis Of The Arsenic Standard On Nevada, Jill S. Dale
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
In 2001, the arsenic standard for drinking water was lowered from 50 parts per billion to 10 parts per billion. The clean-up costs for Nevada are estimated at approximately 400 million dollars. The purpose of this project is to examine the economic impacts the State of Nevada will absorb as a result of the new regulation. Research of historical data will be the basis for the project. National data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and data collected from the State of Nevada will be accompanied by comparable research data found through other sources
The Impact Of The Winter's Doctrine On Water Allocation To The Gila River Indian Community, Deana P. Benally
The Impact Of The Winter's Doctrine On Water Allocation To The Gila River Indian Community, Deana P. Benally
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
Can the Gila River Indian Community rely upon the Winter's Doctrine (1908) to obtain more water than the past? The purpose of this thesis is to examine the impact of the Winter's Doctrine on the Gila River Indian Community (GRIC). This research paper uses the case study method to evaluate the relevance of the Winter's Doctrine on current negotiations. Results indicate that the Winter's Doctrine is not expected to have much of an impact on current negotiations with the U.S. Congress.

The proposal for development is in a high growth region near the southern tip of the Baja peninsula in the state of Baja California, Sur, Mexico. The Pacific coast of southern Baja has seen little development and consists largely of non-developed shoreline. The current economic base of …

Habitat Conservation For Birds In The Mississippi Headwaters/Tallgrass Prairie Ecosystem, Rolf Koford, Heidi Stallman
Habitat Conservation For Birds In The Mississippi Headwaters/Tallgrass Prairie Ecosystem, Rolf Koford, Heidi Stallman
Great Plains Research: A Journal of Natural and Social Sciences (through 2013)
Land management agencies need to plan and prioritize their activities to best use limited resources. To implement ecosystem management, the US Fish and Wildlife Service has defined watershed-based planning units, such as the Mississippi Headwaters/Tallgrass Prairie Ecosystem. To identify important habitats for migratory birds in this ecosystem, we ranked habitats according to their importance for breeding birds of conservation concern, using rankings of the birds' conservation priority within this ecosystem. Grasslands and wetlands were the highest ranked habitats because 12 (46%) and 9 (25%), respectively, of the species breeding in these habitats had "Partners in Flight" scores greater than 19 …
